Long ago, during a time of intense magical warfare, a project was put into place. It was called "Overkill" and it's main objective was to genetically engineer mages of unfathomable strength and use it to put an end to the chaos. The best scientists and mages of the era were gathered in one place to work on the project, the current ruler attempting to change the tides and bring about peace.
"Overkill" took over a decade to complete, but before it could be put to use, a peace treaty was signed and the century long warfare came to an abrupt close and the project was immediately abandoned.
Three hundred years passed and the world once again found itself on the brink of destruction, entire nations breathing down each others throats, promising bloodshed. War looked to be inevitable and, with the prospect of war, the subjects known as "The Colored Mages" were released into the world.
