"Why do you want to be the chief?" Aru asked while calmly sitting on a chair near Kaan's bed.

The question made Kaan pause for a second. There was no doubt that he wanted to be the chief. 

But, why?

The question made him contemplate the real reason.

In the past, he reasoned his actions by saying that he was the strongest and most appropriate person to take charge. He thought he could give back as much as he received from the tribe. It was also true that he looked down on those who were weaker than him and still wanted to be the chief.

But, was that all there was?

No.

Kaan's original tribe was fragmented after a demon attack. Most of the people within his tribe escaped and were scattered across the continent.

During that time of unrest, he led a few who were willing to come with him to join the Boulder tribe.
