Intense Spar

On a plateau, two people could be seen standing apart from each other. The terrain had cracks and pits all around and this indicated the kind of destruction was probably caused by the two people standing there.

One of them was a woman who had short, brown hair and wore a tight-fitting black dress with an alluring figure and anyone who saw her could not take their eyes off her bewitching vertical green eyes. She looked serious and prepared to attack her opponent upon the slightest opening.

The other person to the side was a blond-haired young man with golden pupils and a handsome face who was wearing a sorcerer's robe. He also had a very focused expression and his eyes were like that of an eagle, observing every inch of the woman's body and his surroundings, not leaving himself open in any way.

The brown-haired woman, who was Mayra, held her hand forth and performed her attack.

Dark Sorcery: Dark Serpents!!

From her right hand immediately burst forth countless black snakes made of dark elemental particles, hissing loudly at the opponent. The black snakes closed the distance and arrived in front of the young man in the blink of an eye and he could not dodge them.

But the young man had no intentions to dodge from the very beginning as azure-white elemental energy swiftly materialized in front of him and was rotating at high speeds.

Wind Sorcery: Wind Spiral Barrier!!

Boom!!

The two attacks smashed into each other with amazing force, generating an earth-cracking impact and strong gusts of wind in the area. The dark serpent sorcery possessed incredulous attack power though as it managed to possess the upper hand in the impact and pushed the wind spiral barrier backwards and overpowered it.

The dark serpents, almost like sentient creatures did not end there and after destroying the barrier, three of them still managed to pass through the barrier and approached the young man from tricky angles, about to land a finishing blow on him.

Wind Sorcery: Wind Blade

The young man with golden pupils, seemingly calm, responded calmly as he stretched forth his right index finger and also cast three wind blades instantly.

Swish, swish, swish!!

The wind blades met the remaining dark serpents and collided with each other, preventing the serpents from moving an inch further and both attacks lost power and dispersed soon after.

" That was a nice move and some quick thinking, August. I knew I had to take you seriously." Mayra said with a smile that could not hide her pride. She was right about him from the very start. From her experiences, this one attack of hers could kill many intermediate sorcerers without suspense. But this young man in front of her was still able to deal with it calmly.

But she did not just stop here and was now eager to see where August's limits lay. Although it was supposed to be a spar, she still wanted to battle him more intensely, and defeat him!

"You went easy on me, Mayra. I know that sorcery was the weakest attack in your arsenal. Don't hold back," August coolly said.

"Then I will not hesitate anymore!" Mayra declared.

With very quick motions, she quickly flashed towards August and swiped her right hand. Her right hand was black and did not look like a human hand. Instead, it looked like the hand of some strange beast and her normal fingernails now looked like claws and it was glowing with an ominous green and black light.

Medusa Bloodline Ability: Gorgon's Talon!!

Wind Blade!

She was confident that she could end the battle with this attack. This was because this sorcery was not just normal sorcery. Instead, it was an innate bloodline ability!

Different from the other types of sorcerers, bloodline sorcerers are commonly known as the best sorcerers when it came down to battle prowess within the first three ranks of the sorcerer profession. This was due to the innate bloodline abilities of mythical creatures that they possessed.

These innate bloodline abilities, allowed them to be proficient in performing sorceries of a particular affinity that complimented their bloodlines faster and easier than their counterparts. In this case, Mayra's Medusa bloodline made her obtain a very powerful darkness affinity which made her darkness-type sorceries more powerful, stronger and easier to cast- just like breathing air.

Also, they were able to perform specific powerful bloodline abilities unique to only themselves and this made them very powerful opponents!

Hence, her bloodline ability- Gorgon's Talon only required her bloodline power and some amount of magic power, making it possible for her to use it for prolonged periods in battle.

Swish, Swish, swish!!

Mayra snorted when she saw August launch three wind blades in her direction and immediately used her claw to slash them apart one after the other, her speed not slowing down in the slightest. However, even she could not help but pause momentarily and brace herself for impact when she saw August's real attack.

Wind Sorcery: Wind Spear Rain Shower!!

As much as she wanted to charge straight at the caster of this sorcery, she had to admit that if she was not careful, she could suffer some injuries even for an elite sorcerer such as herself. Hence she chose to wait it out until she got an opening.

Darkness Sorcery: Dark Veil!!

Sounds of several projectiles colliding with a hard surface could be heard. A thin black cocoon covered a small area around her as the barrage of swift and sharp wind spears could only collide with it without managing to penetrate its layer.

Mayra smirked inwardly when she saw the end result. "It is meaningless, August. My dark veil can withstand attacks of up to 35 degrees. Your wind spears may be powerful, but enough to defeat me."

August said nothing however and continued to attack with his wind spears. After the attack died down, Mayra immediately charged towards him and slashed him with her claw, only to have to face a spiral barrier that immediately materialized to block her attack.

She did not hesitate for a slight second and her claw swiped downwards, dark green light flashing ominously as it tore apart the spiral barrier as if it was paper within an instant!

BOOOM!

The spiral barrier immediately exploded, revealing August who was a few meters away from where he originally was. Mayra however stared unblinkingly at August in shock because her dark green talon attack that was supposed to have landed a blow on him earlier was locked into place by the wind.

Wind Sorcery: Air Lock!!

She was careless. She had seen him use this sorcery before but did not pay attention to it during this battle and let her guard down when she did not see him use it. Now she had paid the price for it.

Although it was for an instant, her attack movements got stalled and gave August enough time to evade her attack. He is strong. Although he was still an intermediate sorcerer, he was able to hold out to this extent.

Mayra got more and more impressed with August, who had also begun casting his wind-blade sorcery again.

"Still using this attack again? Is that all you have got? In that case, then perhaps it is time I used my trump card! Prepare yourself, August," Mayra shouted. She said that in order to test his emotions to see if he would get infuriated and attack recklessly but as she expected, his expression did not change at all.

"Okay let's end this!" As she said this, she gazed at August who had a cautious expression on his face as even he could tell that she was preparing some form of attack. Her eyes which were originally normal, suddenly became dark and had vertically shaped pupils, like that of a serpent, and flashed with a bright green light!

Medusa Bloodline Ability: Gorgon's Allure!!!

In the blink of an eye, August, who had an expression of alert on his face, suddenly became listless and unfocused as he stared at her blankly. It was as if his soul had left his body and was standing there was simply a shell of his mortal self.

When Mayra saw this, she smiled broadly as she knew that this battle was over! This was because her attack just now was a spiritual attack that did not attack one's body but rather one's spirit. "You are truly strong, August, but no one has been able to evade this attack of mine. It's over," Mayra said without doubt as she pointed her right hand, which had now returned to normal, towards August's direction.

Darkness Sorcery: Dark Serpents!!

She launched her finishing attack and was prepared to stop it from hitting him at the last minute if he was not able to recover from the spiritual attack. The black serpents flashed through the air and were about to reach their target when a spiral barrier formed around August, repelling the attack and countless wind blades subsequently blasted the serpents away afterwards.

She looked at August's face in shock, and he also looked at her with a mysterious smile on his face. His expression returned to normal as if nothing happened to him just now.

"That was some good pressure I received from you once again, I am truly grateful for the sparring session that we have been having, Mayra!" he said as he gave her a slight bow.
