The Rat That Became God

Since the dawn of time, there have been 'Gates'. These gates lead to different worlds... Worlds filled with magical creatures. Humans, the dominating species on Earth, fight the monsters from gates and earn the favor of what you might call 'gods'. These gods are called 'Constellations'. There are many constellations, all varying in power. But, the greatest were the 'Celestials' and the 'Infernals'. The so-called Gods and demons. All humans sought to earn the favor and form a 'bond'. These bonds helped humans gain power and constellations gain fame.

But, all these trivial things don't bother me. After all, I'm a rat. All that matters to me is gaining food for the colony and surviving. Even the lowest of constellations don't bat an eye for anything like a rat. My father named me 'Gundu', after a human who saved him. My job in the colony is to collect food from trash bags in the city. It's a dangerous job but needed. I get enough food for my work too. I was living a good life until one fateful day... I was out collecting some nuts when a powerful-looking human passed by. He looked like he was at least in the S class! I knew I had to be careful since he can kill me by just looking at me, I was crawling slowly past him when I heard a *ding* sound. A bluish-purple screen appeared in front of me. My English wasn't that good but it appeared to be a bond... with a Demon Sovereign?!

I read it again. It was really a bond with a Demon Sovereign! But... Why would one of the most powerful constellations make a bond with me? I have heard some constellations make bonds with meager beings but never a Demon Sovereign! And this was a very good one for me! It said that I can control the Demon Sovereign's army and be on the same rank of command as the Demon Sovereign as long as I increase his fame! Anyone would be tempted! So, naturally, I accepted. I was transported instantly to the Netherworld. And standing in front of me... Was an army of 100,000! At the front were the lower-class beings, like the Daemons, Imps, Fiends et cetera. But at the back, were one of the highest class beings of not only the Netherworld but the whole universe! There were Elite Demons, Archfiends, and even Abyssal Lords! They are all at least 100 times stronger than a mere S-class human! These demons' presence was known throughout the cosmos! Yet, something was strange. They all seemed to be bowing down to me...

Let me remind you, I'm a rat. And these beings were a hundred times bigger than humans, I doubt I'd even get noticed. But why? They were all bowing down to me. I walked in between them and reached the end and I saw two thrones... And on one of them, was a Demon Sovereign! And not only that, it was Humuner, one of the most powerful! He asked me what my name was. I replied that my name was 'Gundu'. He beckoned me to come and sit on the other throne. Something was wrong, how could a Demon Sovereign, Humuner at that, make such a good bond with me?! I asked him my question. He chuckled and said that it was his fault. He was going to make the contract with the S-class but he... misclicked. He told me not to reveal it to his subordinates as they think I am some rat god. I was in awe. I couldn't believe I had this much power! I asked Humuner what I could do. He told me that I could do... anything! He made some personal servants for me, two Abyssal Lords and six Archfiends, and anyone under them. I could believe SS-class disasters were my personal servants! The most powerful under me was the Abyssal Lord, Demonic Grand Duke, Torkin. I was able to command half the Infernal forces and could command the other half if I asked for Humuner's permission! The Infernals were actually quite kind and also seemed scared of me! I moved my colony here and partied all day with the Infernals! We had grown quite close and this went on for half a year. I understood all their rankings and nobility system.

Demons were ranked as follows:

Meager Demons > Wicked Demons > Vile Demons > Malevolent Demons > Elite Demons > Archfiends > Abyssal Lords > Demon Sovereigns

And lesser Infernals like this:

Daemons > Imps > Fiends > Hellhounds > Nightmares > Shadows > Wraiths > Abyss dwellers.

The Infernals were given titles based on their achievements and contributions to society.

The Nobility was as follows:

Demon Baronet > Demon Baron > Demon Viscount > Demon Earl > Demon Marquess > Demon Duke > Demon Arch Duke > Demon Grand Duke > Demon Prince > Demon King > Demon Emperor

As soon as I arrived I was given the title, Demon Sovereign, Gundu. But there was a ceremony to crown me properly where all the Demon Sovereigns had to be present. And that was tomorrow.
