The Pathos God

A massive mass of light engulfed the entire forest, and at its center stood a god, a being who had transcended the very limits of mortal cultivation and had become the representative of his own law.

As he stood in the middle of the forest, he scanned the trees for anything that could endanger him. He needed to act quickly because he was losing power at an alarming rate, he kept looking and looking until he made a discovery, a discovery that wasn't part of what he had originally bargained for, one that could change the very structure of his planned future... He was blind!.

Why? Why had the heavens decided to punish him even more harshly? Hadn't he been through enough?

Shiro thought as tears streamed down his cheeks, unable to see, he could only stand there and watch as all the power he had accumulated over the years vanished into thin air.

Shiro felt empty after a thousand years of effort had vanished like the wind; he had not expected the scroll of reincarnation to have such far-reaching consequences, including the loss of his sight.

As a mortal being, being blind was a minor inconvenience; all one needed to do was cultivate until they could use the divine sense to see, and most cultivators didn't even see the need to use their eyes, but for a god, things were different. As the representation of a law, if a part of the god was missing, that part would be missing from the respective law, meaning that one would have to cultivate until they could fill up that gap, or it would remain useless forever. Shiro, on the other hand, had no choice because laws did not exist in the lower realms.

Shiro once known as the Immortal Scholar, his law, the law of comprehension, allowed him to immediately master any technique that was related to his cultivation path.

He had become an important part of the seven planes since understanding any law or technique required first learning the law of comprehension.

Shiro stood motionless in the middle of the forest, his lack of sight a surprise because he hadn't planned or even expected it, his sense of direction had become scattered as he became unable to distinguish left from right.

'I need to cultivate before I can do anything else'

Shiro thought as he recalled a cultivation technique he had once used as a mortal.

Slowly, all of the spiritual energy in the area began to flow into Shiro's body; however, just as the energy was about to enter his dantian, it all rushed out.

Shiro was perplexed; did the damage to his soul prevent him from cultivating as well? He wasn't sure, so he tried again and again, but it didn't work.

Too many unexpected events had occurred; not only had he lost his sight, but he had also lost his ability to cultivate.

How should I proceed? What should I do?

Shiro's mind was filled with questions as his brain worked at breakneck speed to come up with solutions; this was one of the only ways Shiro was able to master the law of comprehension. He was the first and only god of comprehension due to his abnormal thinking capacity and otherworldly IQ.

Shiro split his mind into three parts, one for problem solving, another for basic functions like breathing, and the third for enhancing his senses. Shiro was still a god, even though he had lost his cultivation base, he could use their entire body capacity with little to no limitations.

Shiro used his third mind to greatly improve his hearing while also monitoring the direction of the wind. His ears were so sensitive that he could create a mental image of his surroundings simply by listening to the obstacles the wind encountered.

In theory, it sounded extremely simple, but in practice, only someone with Shiro's level of experience and understanding of the human body could make such an impossibility work.

Shiro proceeded to look for the soul phoenix flower, a treasure that could only be found in deep swampy forests like the one Shiro was currently in. Shiro's reincarnation forest was known as the phoenix swamp forest, and it was one of the few places in the lower realms where the phoenix soul flower could be found. A treasure formed from the soul goddess's remains, capable of healing any soul injuries and cleansing the dantian of impurities.

As one might expect given its scarcity, Shiro spent nearly half a day looking for a single flower. Once he had achieved his primary goal, Shiro picked up a stick and began navigating himself towards a nearby river.

Shiro placed the flower on a rock and began pounding it with the stick until it became paste.

Difficult! That was the first thing Shiro realized; without the use of cultivation and spiritual energy, many simple tasks had become so difficult that Shiro was left speechless, it made him wonder just how difficult it was to be a true mortal.

Shiro left the flower to dry after pounding it sufficiently.

'I guess I am done for now.'

Shiro thought as he began gathering wood for a fire, night had fallen and the weather had become unbearably cold, Shiro could not find shelter without his sight, and even moving around had become a very bothersome activity.

Cultivation! Shiro knew that was the one thing he needed the most; even the weakest cultivator could survive a single cold night.

Shiro had been unable to cultivate energy since his dantian had become blocked.

What could he possibly do? How should he proceed?

Shiro's mind raced at an impossible speed, concocting various solutions to his predicament. Shiro devised a solution in 0.0001 seconds, one that would not have been possible if not for his current situation...
