Chapter 1: My Hard Fought Battle

Cancer is the name that many know it by, but the word cancer meant nothing other than the first-hand meeting that made contact with mine. The hand that soothed away the pain of reality. The pain that my body was experiencing. Losing a battle that I fought for so long, to say the least, was one of the best feelings I had ever come across.

Now at the end of my journey, I found myself alone, left behind in a world that had nothing other than white walls all around me. The noise of the monitor as my heart began to give up, the chats of the doctors and nurses all around me faded. What a journey, what a life I have lived.

Several years ago, before the incident*

Suzuki, an orphan at birth, is a student at Tokyo University. He is a major in Computer science, pursuing the dream of launching his own tech company. Suzuki works hard every day. Studying at random times, he always reaches his arm into the unknown, hoping to come across a result. A boy who knew nothing of human natures and understood nothing of human feelings, canceled from the world, lived inside of his mind. Having a part-time job at McRonald's he provides for his dorm and food every week. He has never missed a day of school or work. Committed to his dreams, he would even put extra time at work. Suzuki only had a couple of problems. The first one is that he never had a friend, and the second is that he is always alone. Knowing this, he thought that these things would scatter away if he became rich.

"Mmm, damn it, I can't figure this equation out at all!" He said to himself in his dark and damp room. "What the hell is with this teacher anyway?" He spoke softly to himself as he sipped on the cup of instant noodles. Then, knowing his homework due date was coming up in minutes, he began racing through the equations. Not really paying attention, he missed a question.

After turning in the assignment and taking a little break from his tensions by watching anime, he received a notification on his cell phone device.

Ding!

[Assignment Graded]

"Mhm, finally, he graded it!" In excitement, he said to himself, but his tone didn't sit for long as he blankly stared into his screen. "What the hell? 87 out 100? Is this teacher okay?" He rushed to his computer to email the teacher's response.

Tap! Tap!

He tapped away at his keyboard with incredible speed. He began rereading his email.

[Hello, Professor Tora, this is Suzuki, messaging you to understand why you're such an asshole. Thank you!]

Agitated, he erased the message and sat back down, "eh, whatever." He said to himself. Heading towards his fridge, he came to find out he had run out of coffee, which urged him to leave the house in a hurry and head towards a coffee shop. With his laptop inside of his side bag, he walked alone. In the cold streets of Tokyo, Suzuki bore a blank expression, his head titled down. He walked until he reached StarCafe. "Mmm, this will do, I guess."

Being next in line to order had his heart racing out of his body. "Hey, what can I get for you, sir?" Said a welcoming voice. But Suzuki's introverted side took over and replied with a shy tone. "A hot dark coffee, please." He then pointed his finger and gestured the number one.

"Dark coffee? What the hell am I saying? No, I wanted a Carmel milk hot coffee." He raged on in his head until he comprehended. "Will that be it for you today?" Unable to utter a word, he responded by violently shaking his head. "Okay, awesome. May I get a name for your order?" The cashier asked him. "Y-yes, Suzuki." He said as he immediately pulled out his wallet and paid. Walking away, he shook in fear of speaking to others, "damn, that was so hard!" He said to himself as he took a seat.

A few minutes later, he heard his name called upon by the server. He got up and headed straight to the barista, "t-thank you." He said as he picked up his coffee and ran to the Creamer section. "Shit, I said it! Mmm, some more creamer perhaps." He said to himself as he placed his coffee by his laptop. "Huh? The numbers have dropped?" He said with a shaken look
