An Unlikely Ally

The next day

9 AM

"Sir, may we form a small team for exploration? Griffins would enable us to explore swiftly and securely," George proposed as I concluded my breakfast.

"I approve. Send two griffin riders and three Radiant Light for the exploration. We need to be cautious; our numbers are still limited," I informed the Crusader as we left the canteen.

Observing the city still in the process of construction, I couldn't help but appreciate its beauty. "This is truly magnificent," I reflected silently.

With the upgrade of the city and the fact that I could now recruit people directly from the buildings each week meant that in less than a year I would have a strong army and a lot of population.

[Weekly Recruitment

0/7 Sentinels

0/9 Praetorians

0/5 Crossbowmen

0/10 Sisters

0/2 Radiant Light

0/2 Griffins

]

This was a grand total of 35 troops per week but there was a little complication with that

[Gold : 421]

Recruiting these troops came at a considerable cost, to the point where opting for elite creatures seemed impractical, except for the complimentary Radiant Light each week.

"George, what do you believe should be our next course of action?" I inquired of the Crusader, noting the contemplative gaze on his sword.

"I propose we seek out another civilization and attempt to establish friendly contact or even engage in trade with them," he suggested, sheathing his sword.

"I share the same opinion," I concurred, glancing at the riders preparing to embark on their griffins for the exploration of our surroundings "Even if we continue to expand, one day we should encounter another civilisation, and we best be prepared if they are hostile"

George regarded me with surprise at my words. "You have changed, my Lord. I don't see the indecisive boy who summoned me on the first day."

"I don't think it's a change," I responded. "I've simply become aware of what needs to be done for the prosperity of my people."

"A king must prioritize the prosperity of his subjects above all else, not be consumed by doubt and ignorance" I concluded, casting my gaze beyond the newly rising wall, toward the farms diligently tended by my people with the assistance of my golems.

George followed my gaze for a moment, a smile forming on his face. "I believe you'll prove to be a formidable ruler, my Lord," he remarked while donning his helmet.

"I hope to live up to the expectations," I replied with a smile, turning my attention back to George, who was now mounting his gleaming horse.

"And you, my Duke, do you anticipate being a capable ruler?" I inquired, curious about his response.

"I'll strive not to disappoint you or my subjects. Observing and learning from your actions is, I believe, the best way for me—a former peasant—to grasp the art of governance," he responded.

I chuckled at his answer before composing myself. "A thoughtful approach. Now, go and ensure a good patrol along the farms," I bid farewell to the Crusader, turning my focus back toward the City Hall.

"Wishing you a good morning, my Lord," George bowed before urging his mount to depart swiftly. From the corner of my eye, I noticed the griffins taking flight, with Aurelia and her sisters trailing behind them, heading eastward from our city.

"Perhaps they will discover a civilization or come across rare resources," I pondered as I observed my chief architect examining the progress of the wall's construction.

"How are you holding up, Aldor?" I asked the young man, momentarily overlooking his initial role as a sentinel. I remembered his aversion to combat but acknowledged his involuntary conscription to fight in the Second Eclipse against the tumultuous hordes of Sheogh. He had disclosed this to me during our recent conversation about castle construction.

Despite our aspirations, the current expense of building a castle was prohibitive. It necessitated more than just a wall, and obtaining a crown was crucial for quest completion. The town's resources couldn't be spent recklessly at this stage. Nonetheless, we had outlined a blueprint for a palace, requiring a substantial amount of Light Crystal and a significant sum of gold.

[Blueprint: Castle of Elrath]

[Rare]

[A blend of Cathedral and royal Palace, exuding sanctity and opulence]

[10,000 gold, 70 Pure Crystals of Light, and an abundance of furniture and tapestries]

Creating the Pure Light Crystals wouldn't pose much difficulty, especially with [Light Magic III]. It felt as if light had become an extension of my body, a tool I could freely wield to either sear enemies or mend fatally wounded individuals. Despite the proficiency granted by my artifacts, I sensed a potential weakness in my mana pool in the long run. Yet, the question lingered: how could I expand it? I already had crystals in my equipment that facilitated mana control.

Drawing on my knowledge from Warcraft, I recalled that in that world, Arcane Energy flowed through the ground in discernible patterns. There existed a 'Nexus,' a focal point where a substantial amount of pure Arcane energy was stored. For instance, the strongest of these Nexuses served as the Blue Dragonflight's refuge in Azeroth.

However, on this planet, pinpointing the location of a Nexus is uncertain. It's crucial to remember that Arcane energy here draws attention, much like Azshara and her Highborne, who, in their pursuit of greater power, attracted the attention of Sargeras's minions to Azeroth.

A sigh escaped me; things were proving to be more complex. Before long, I found myself standing in front of my workshop. The city required additional builder golems and harvester golems to expedite our expansion further.

Hours slipped away within the confines of my workshop as I tirelessly crafted more golems to propel our expansion.

[Advanced Golemancer 1085/5000, 0/1 -> 1400/5000,0/1]

[Advanced Jeweller 1100/2000, 0/1 -> 1415/2000, 0/1]

In total, I produced approximately 200 harvesters and 115 builder golems. I quickly ordered the harvesters to go to different gathering points and the builder golems to go and start to create more fields and start to create more roads.

In total, I manufactured around 200 harvesters and 115 builder golems. Swiftly, I directed the harvesters to various gathering points and assigned the builder golems to initiate the creation of more fields and roads.

[You discovered a kingdom: Darkblade Clan]

[Dark Elves Clan]

[Status: Friendly]

[Power: Modest]

[Resources: Enormous scarcity of food due to being underground, an abundance of rare crystals]

[History: A remarkably young kingdom, similar to yours; these Dark Elves haven't formed a pact with the Faceless but are still worshiping Malassa as they God]

[God: Malassa, Weaver of Shadow]

"WHAT?" I exclaimed from within my workshop. Was I not the only one from Ashan here? Perhaps there was a mass teleportation from Ashan, or another reincarnated individual like me. The question lingered: Why were we reincarnated here, if that were the case ?

[Elrath's demand for you to purify these heathens!]

[Malassa implores you to make the right choice and, for once, not heed her idiotic brother.]

[Urgash laughs at the prospect of another Elder's Wars in this new world.]

[Shalassa is saddened by the prospect of another war.]

[Sylvanna is content, knowing that the bodies will nourish the soil.]

"Is a war truly the best way to approach this?" I contemplated as I hastily exited my workshop.

"Everyone!" I shouted, "Grab your weapons and armor. The scouts have discovered what appears to be a Dark Elves outpost. We'll move quickly and assess the situation ourselves."

I seized a passing sentinel by the shoulder. "Go and gather the others working in the fields," I instructed as I swiftly returned inside my workshop, ensuring to take a plethora of gems and crystals to replenish my mana in case of conflict.

As I exited I saw around forty people in armors waiting for me, I commended half of the remaining war golems to follow us in case a conflict break out

"Your Majesty," said George, "Are we going to war ? " he asked the question that everyone was dmeanded themselves.

"I hope not George" I replied "I hope that an accord could be reach with the other kingdom, despite our belief in our gods"

[Elrath is furious about your choice but decide for now to see how it turns out]

[Malassa is relieved with what you said, you truly are different from the rulers from Ashan]

[Urgash's happiness has deflated]

[Kha-Beleth is saying that an alliance with the Dark Elves will always be an error, just like with Raelag]

"Let's go ! " I said to the group as we soon departed, strong of around 300 troops.

Being the first to encounter the Dark Elves could be deemed unfortunate. I was well aware of their lore—a group of backstabbing individuals, an inherently evil race with a complex and troubled history. However, at present, they hadn't formed a pact with any Faceless, which might be considered a stroke of luck.

Malassa, a dragon goddess, operated in the shadows, choosing her moments to strike most opportunistically. She initiated the Elder's Wars because her children killed angels, who were aiming to obliterate the demons of Urgash. This act aimed to maintain balance between Order and Chaos. But it still created one of the worst wars in the history of Ashan.

She is the goddess of knowledge and dark secrets too.

The whole way toward the entrance of the subterranean kingdom was grim, the first encounter with a truly intelligent civilisation and a known one to boot. Angels and Faceless, Elrath and Malassa, Light and Darkness. I couldn't see even how to resolve such a colossal conflict without the help of the chief of the Dark Elves, if he wanted war I would crush him, but if he wanted peace and trade opportunities then I would be more than happy to help him and his kingdom.

Malarion Darkblade POV:

I was stressed after seeing the purple system's window appear in front of me.

[You discovered a kingdom: Holy Falcon Kingdom]

[Human Kingdom]

[Status: Friendly]

[Power: Mortal]

[Resources: Enormous amount of food due to instantaneous production, an abundance of rare crystals due to rich veins near the city, blessed by Elrath and Urgash]

[History: A remarkably young kingdom, similar to yours; their king is a just and gentle individual, wanting a peaceful coexistence over senseless wars. But don't mistake this for weakness as he will not tolerate attack on his people]

[God: Elrath, Light Dragon God]

'E-Elrath's chosen?' I exclaimed within my mind, glancing at my bandaged hands. "Perhaps I'm not the only one who has been abducted and thrust into this nightmare," I pondered, closing the window.

"Should we flee?" crossed my mind, but a wave of sadness washed over me as I looked back at the starving people under my protection. "It all went terribly wrong," I sighed.

Back on Earth, I was someone afflicted with an incurable illness, confined to a hospital bed for the entirety of my life. There wasn't much room for leisure, and the only solace that brought a smile to my face was immersing myself in films and books, particularly those of the fantasy genre, such as Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit.

Suddenly, I found myself in a white room, spinning the wheel of fortune. Then, I was thrust into some subterranean realm, with a system speaking directly into my head and issuing instructions.

Yet, I made blunder after blunder, choosing the Might section of the skill tree. In hindsight, I wished I could strangle my former self; being adept with magical knives, not strength, was what provided sustenance for my people.

Fortunately, I received assistance from fellow Dark Elves, [Assassins] and [Stalkers], who guided me in honing my combat skills. However, beyond dealing with creatures, I failed to contribute much else to my people.

Lianna, my mentor in the [Stalker] class, suggested I nominate myself as [Clan Leader]. I followed her advice, gained an [Elite Seed], upgraded my [Village Hall] to a [City Hall], and transformed Lianna into a [Matriarch]. Despite these efforts, an enormous shortage of food persisted.

Upon gaining enough XP to level up, I discovered with horror that my magic section offered no means to create food in these underground passages. We embarked on an expedition to find an entrance to the outside world. When we finally arrived, we encountered creatures resembling griffins from Harry Potter and some peculiar floating ladies made of Light.

Lianna explained that they were servants of the Human Empire in their world, urging us to leave immediately to avoid detection by angels, who could pose a lethal threat to our survival as a civilisation.

[New quest generated ! ]

[Survive your encounter with the King of the Holy Falcon Kingdom]

[The King of the Human Kingdom is en route, survive the encounter and you shall be rewarded]

[Rewards : ?]

[Failure : Death]

"Everyone" I started as everyone looked around panicked about being attacked by humans "We shall stay here and wait for their king to arrive" he stated

"Are you mad!?" Lianna exclaimed, her beautiful face contorting into an unsightly frown. "They will burn us in the name of Elrath! That's all that will happen."

"If you wish to leave, I won't stop you," I replied with a murmur. "I am no king; I understand how pitiful I must appear. All of you are paying for my mistakes. If you want to escape the impending humans, return to the underground. Perhaps you will find shelter and food there."

The dark elves surveyed their surroundings, but not a single one left. Even Lianna, who was giving me a stare so intense that, if stares could kill, I would have perished a thousand times.

"I am not going to abandon my clan leader," she declared, echoing the sentiments expressed by everyone else.

This display brought a tear to my eyes. Someone like me, who had never experienced friendship or care from anyone outside my family, to be recognized despite all my mistakes was truly comforting.

"Then we'll just have to wait here," I declared. The entire group consisted of [Assassins], [Stalkers], and civilians standing by my side.

'I hope you're as benevolent as the system makes you out to be, king of Humans,"'I silently prayed, gazing above at the circling griffins.

—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lucas POV:

After three hours of travel, I spotted the Griffins circling above us, and Aurelia descended to join us.

"Your Majesty, these Dark Elves haven't moved since we first spotted them. It's as if they knew you were coming," she remarked, puzzled by the unusual behavior.

"So, a system's user or Malassa may have warned them of my arrival," I thought, studying Aurelia.

"What course of action should I take?" I asked the Light, genuinely curious about her perspective on the situation.

She took a moment before responding, "I believe we should engage in a discussion before resorting to combat. Even if they worship Malassa, I still believe their souls can be saved."

"I see," I replied, considering her viewpoint. Our entire group emerged from the forest to confront the Dark Elves, the rhythmic thud of our armored feet echoing through the air. The Dark Elves' presumed leader appeared somewhat apprehensive at the sound of hundreds of armored feet hitting the ground simultaneously.

'Well, that doesn't help create a serene atmosphere,"'I thought, noting the stressed faces of the Dark Elves.

'They seem extremely malnourished,' I observed as I examined their faces.

"Your Majesty, allow me to handle the introductions," murmured George. I nodded, granting him permission. The Sun Crusader's aura flared, resembling the brilliance of the sun.

"I am Sir George, Duke of the Wolf!" his voice resounded across the plain. "You are in the presence of the King of the Holy Falcon Empire, His Majesty Lucas Aldaric, Elrath's Chosen!"

I awaited the Dark Elves' response, but moments passed with no reaction.

"Huh, hi, my name is Malarion Darkblade, and I am the clan leader of the Darkblade clan. Uh, pleased to make your acquaintance," he replied in a sheepish voice, scratching the back of his head.

I noticed the woman behind him crush his right foot under her high-heeled boots.

'That must hurt,' I thought as I heard Malarion's little grunt of pain.

"Thank you, George," I said to the Crusader before starting to advance toward the Dark Elves.

"I would like to have a little conversation with you, Malarion," I said to the young Dark Elf.

"This will not happ—" started the woman, but before she could continue, the young elf put his hand on her mouth.

"Gladly!" he promptly replied to me as he departed from his group toward me.

We distanced ourselves from the group in complete silence.

"I'll be quick. Are you from Earth, Malarion?" I asked the young elf. Hearing my question, he looked at me with widened eyes, and well, I already had my answer.

"Yes," he replied with unmasked enthusiasm. "You too?"

I nodded before extending my hand in front of him.

"I would like to offer you and your kingdom an alliance between us," I began. The young man seemed eager to shake my hand immediately, but I put my other hand in front of him, halting him.

"Don't be hasty; this is a serious alliance. I will provide enough food and construct a farm in this plain for your kingdom's use—perhaps multiple farms if the partnership continues. In exchange, I want some crystals or other resources."

I extended my hand again.

"Do you accept the alliance?" I asked him once more. This time, he took a moment to truly consider my proposal.

"Do I truly have a choice?" he smiled as he shook my hand. "If I don't accept your offer, I won't have enough food to survive another week," he admitted.

"Then, in front of our Gods, I, Lucas Aldaric, swear to assist my ally in every situation."

"Uh, me too. Malarion Darkblade swears that I and my people will aid Lucas Aldaric in every circumstance."

The two of them saw a window appear in front of them

[Congratulations for your first alliance]

[Alliance Tab unlocked]

Malarion clicked on the tab faster than me, his speed was blazing

'So this is the power of a Might Hero ?' I thought, a bit scared about the power of an assassin Might Hero

[Alliance Tab]

[Darkblade Clan - Holy Falcon Kingdom : Friendly]

[Holy Falcon Kingdom : Extremely Friendly]

"So, the tab is just that, I see," I thought as I looked at the tab and opened the map. I observed that all the territories explored by the Darkblade Clan were now revealed. On the map, I identified around ten mines containing crystals and other ores.

'This is incredible!' I marveled in my head, appreciating all these gathering points.

"Mr. Aldaric," I heard the voice of the young elf. "I am truly grateful to you. Lianna explained to me the wars we had between our races in the past. I appreciate that you didn't kill me and my people," he expressed his gratitude.

"Everything is not resolved by war, it is something that our peers in Ashan forgot" I said to him as I started to depart toward the two groups in fear that they tear themselves apart

Returning to our group, we promptly explained to everyone our new alliance, and what that entailed for our future.

[Elrath don't know if this is a good thing or not]

[Malassa is looking at you, judging your moves]

"We shall return tomorrow with the necessary resources to construct a farm in this plain," I conveyed to the elves as Malarion turned back to look at us.

"Thank you, your Majesty. We shall wait for you in this plain," he replied, bowing curtly. It appeared that Lianna had taught him how to express gratitude effectively.

We soon departed with the whole army toward Falcon's Reach

—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Malarion POV:

[Quest completed]

[Reward : Marketplace]

Lianna was looking at me strangely

"You just struck a deal with this King ?" she asked skeptical as she narrowed her eyes at me "it seems that you are not as dull as I thought, your plan was perfect" she said as she departed toward the underground's entrance

'Plan, what plan ?' I thought as I responded with a tired smile "Yeah, it went all according to plan"

'His armor was so cool tho' I thought as I followed the group toward the underground's entrance

[You received Malassa's Blessing]

'What ?'

Well, I hope that you liked the chapter, don't worry the other reincarnators are very minor characters in this novel, they are more supporting character than main characters

See you soon
