The Hearts Divided

CHAPTER ONE

Samantha

"Stop talking about them now!"

I stare at my best friend who has been talking about my crush and the girl who has been acting clingy over him. She's sitting opposite me with her leg crossed and her eyes shone with amusement over me not showing any sign of jealousy seeing the person I like for three years with some other girl.

"I won't Sam, she's your rival jeez!, you need to buckle up and stop acting all innocent. Chris Is the right one" she says in a calm voice.

    I stood from my seat to stand at the class window and Blessing followed. As we look through the window, some boys were playing soccer on the field and my eyes spotted my so-called crush. "I can't do anything about it, he isn't mine anyway besides he likes her, I can see it "I say as I turned to face Blessing who is standing beside me. She gave me a defeated look and I let out a  sigh as I returned back to watch the boys playing soccer. The school bell rang and as the guys were leaving the field, I spotted Kay run to hand over a bottle water to Chris and they both smiled. He really likes her, I thought. Everyone went back to their classes,

I and Blessings went  to take our seats and watch as Chris and Kay enter the class. Class began and I opened my backpack to take my history note but was no where to be found "oh my god I forgot my note" I blurted out without knowing which caught the attention of everyone in class, I found out I spoke too  loud and gave them an awkward smile. Everyone continued with the class and then I noticed some pair of eyes  staring at me , it was Chris, he then walked to my table and dashed the book at my face and went back to his seat. At this point, I got so confused why he was with my note and why he reacted that way.

  After school that day, it was my turn to close the windows and keep the class tidy. As I was packing my bag ready to leave the class, Chris walked in " so you're tutoring at his place huh?, you even forgot your note with him" he says. This got me wondering why he cared and how he got note, then I faced him, let out a sigh asked "how did you get my note, thanks and yes I'm tutoring at his place because he knows history better and I have been lacking behind"

    Chris looked at me with a smirk on his face and crossed his arms "do you like  Oliver that much?, I offered to tutor you but you refused why" he asked. Why do I feel like he is trying to pick a fight, did he just notice me today after his lovey dovey with Kay. This got me angry and I didn't know when I let out what I

had in mind…

"I didn't want to be the third person between you and Kay, you tutor her so why are you bothering me?" I said this with an exhausted look, truly I was tired because I don't really know what I and Chris are. Picked up my backpack and left him there without waiting for his reply.

The next day, I was on the hall way walking to my class and my mind contemplating on how I have to ignore Chris no matter what, if I ignore him I  will get over him in no time, I said to myself. I heard someone called my name and I looked back to see Blessing who is trying to meet up with my pace "what's up, you look worried and pale" she said me with concerned eyes. As we walked into class I told her all that happened  between I and Chris the previous day and then she asked me to resolve any misunderstanding I have with Chris.

Entering the class room, a group of girls around my seat and Kay on my seat  "hey, you're on my seat" I said to Kay then she burst out laughing and her  group joined her. She stood up ,two of us now facing each other, she said to me "you can seat on my seat or get somewhere else, I want to sit close to Chris". This got my blood boiling but I have a very good maintenance in keeping my  temper "what do you mean Kay, I've been on this seat for a year now and you're telling me to go somewhere else because you want to sit closer to Chris"

 I say this with the urge to slap her face. My best friend Blessing was about to interfere when Chris and two other guys came into the class laughing, this got everyone's attention and Kay started tao smile stupidly but I just wanted her to leave my seat. With a calm voice I said to the class president "good morning can you please tell Kay to leave my space" I looked at Chris. Chris has  been the class president for six months now and his reign has been going smoothly, I thought he was going to solve the little problem by saying the right thing but "you  should seat somewhere else Samantha, she is your friend isn't she? Let her be"  my face was filled with disappointment and for that reason I felt really broken in my heart, did Chris just take Kay's side?!
