'It was risky, we don't know them. If they are strong they can probably take care of it. Opening the gates is just giving the beasts at their back a chance for them to enter as well.'

Mao Fang nodded as he felt that he cannot do anything about it. The other person is clearly just an outsider roaming around the Riverdale Plains until they get lucky enough to get chased by a thousand magical beasts.

"Elder Mao Gang, what should we do about now? They are already about a hundred meters far from us. Should we open the gates?"

"No, we don't know them and other beasts might be able to enter the town. Your family and children can die if we let them enter without using our heads properly."

Another elder chimed in as he frowned deeply. He too wanted to help Zhou Mengyao and his gang but unfortunately, the move is just too risky. The gates might get breached if they opened them for them to enter.

The three elder all shook their heads, they focused their attention on the young buds below the gates instead. They gathered everyone since the soldiers of the town only numbers to about a hundred.

The soldiers are also very weak which will not do well when in comparison to the beast tide that has hundreds of strong beasts.

They will just be cannon fodder but everything that can stall them time is much better than getting erased in the whole world.

"Elder Mao Fang, look. Their leader raised a flag and he is showing it to us!"

"What are you talking about?"

Elder Mao Fang raised his eyebrows as the burly young man pointed in the direction of Zhou Mengyao. Mao Fang looked at it for a second before one can see his expression getting dim.

"Why would they be even here? I thought that they are busy because of the war at the western front!"

Mao Fang whose expression looked grim at first suddenly regained color. This is an opportunity to be able to save the town!

"Quick open the gates! That is the banner of the main family of the Zhou Family! We can get their favor if we help them!"

"The Zhou Family? Aren't that one of the top factions of the Kingdom and they are just near our town!"

The other two elders beside Mao Fang frowned but they also agreed that letting them enter is worth the shot. If they still did not help them even after knowing their identity then they will be fucked up if it is investigated.

"Everyone get in the walls! Prepare for defense! Prepare the arrows and the oil!"

"Open the gates and let the gentlemen riding the magical beast enter!"

"Quickly form a line! Ready your bow and arrows! The moment the beasts enter the 200-meter mark line release the arrows!"

Under the three elders' leadership, the men that numbered around 200 ranging from young and old managed to quickly get in their post and form a line to release their arrows. The town is on alert so every man, young or old is stationed at the walls to protect the town from imminent danger.

"Hold on! Steady! Fire!"

Hundreds of flaming arrow can be seen in the sky flying as its targets the thousands of beasts that are approaching the town.

"Another round! Steady! Fire!"

Another round of arrows is shot as the momentum of the beast tide can be seen to finally be affected, some wolves are shot by multiple arrows setting them on fire. The fire set around confusion among the beast tide but it is not enough to stop them.

"Quickly go inside the town!"

Zhou Mengyuao shouted as they are less than 20 meters and the beasts are just a hundred meters apart from them. Although they are just near, the long-ranged attack of the leader of the beast tide is the one that is dreading them.

He looks up into the sky and he can see that the arrows are set ablaze, he looks back and realizes that the attack is effective but he knew that they can't probably use this attack method for way too long. The materials used are just expensive to be used like this.

Besides, the fire is probably just used to caused confusion in the beast tide. Even if it does some damage, it is not something that can be noticed easily.

One can even notice that the fire in some of the arrows is already dead the moment it even hits the said beasts. The materials used are very poor so it is to be expected that some of them will not even work properly.

BANG!

Two rays of electricity hit the town's wall as Zhou Mengyao and the group managed to quickly dodge it.

The walls can be seen to be damaged for a little bit but the wall is made of stone and it stood tall for a long amount of time so it naturally will not be destroyed just like that.

As a crater can be seen in the wall, Zhou Mengyao wiped the sweat on his forehead. He can already see that the gate made out of iron is being opened albeit slowly as it is probably heavy.

"Young master duck!"

Zhou Mengyao heard Lin Xia's voice and he quickly ducked his head as a ray of electricity that seems to be weaker than usual almost hit him.

"They are running out of qi! We can use this opportunity to be able to escape!"

The gates are just in front of them, the passageway is very narrow as it is not opened properly. The gates are just heavy which made it harder to open and opening a huge passageway might also cause some beasts to be able to enter.

As Zhou Mengyao is in the lead, he naturally is the first one to be able to enter the gates, but he falls off from his mount as thirty men came to receive him as they are just in the front of the gate forming a line with their weapons.

Zhou Mengyao felt a headache as he can hear his horse neigh after stopping so suddenly, when the horse stopped suddenly, it threw him to the ground. Luckily, he has a very tough defense. He would have been groggy if he flew to the ground at a high speed.

As he felt confused for a second due to being thrown in the ground, a young boy at 13 years old with his thin and sickly body quickly pulled him as the young boy saw Zhou Mengyao being thrown just in his front.

The young boy's forehead creased as he felt that Zhou Mengyao's body is just too heavy and with him having a terrible body build, he did not even manage to pull him for a meter before he felt short of breath.

As Zhou Mengyao got pulled around, he suddenly pulled all the shit that is confusing him altogether. He looks at the face of the young boy who looks like he just ate a very sour lemon as he tries his best to pull him.

Zhou Mengyao taps his hand as the young boy stopped and looked at him, he stood up as he quickly took a look back at the situation.

BANG!

A ray of electricity shoots out as it hit three unlucky people as they are closing the gates before they can even completely close the gate, another ray of electricity shoot up and it hits two people who are responsible for closing the gates.

Zhou Mengyao also noticed that Lin Xia, Hu Jia, and Teng Hu are all fine. Their heads are bleeding after being thrown into the ground but they stood up and brushed the pain in their head.

The people who are forming the line quickly saw the approaching beasts so they all panicked and everyone rushed to push the gates to close it. As they did so, another five people are shot with the ray of electricity. They are electrocuted but they are not dead yet.

They can still be saved if treated immediately.

Seeing that the townsfolk are having trouble with closing the gate, Zhou Mengyao also chose to help them as he too rushes to close the gates.

'How far are they? twenty meters? Dang, how can this guy still shoot out this caliber of attack! When will he run out of qi?'

Sweat continuously falls on Zhou Mengyao's forehead as he felt the tension and adrenaline rush to his veins as every passing second made it impossible to breathe.

"Come on! If you still wanted to see your family quickly push the gates!"

The men shouted at the top of their lungs as they felt the dread, seeing the powerful attack of the leader of the Thunderwolves have sent chills to everyone. No one wanted to die so they pushed even harder.

If a single beast were to enter then it will spell their death and even the family that they wanted to protect.

Seeing that Zhou Mengyao has also put his best to close the gates even after being besieged by the Thunderwolves. Hu Jia nodded as he expected Zhou Mengyao to just cheer and watch everyone since he is a young master of a prestigious family that will definitely not put his life in danger.

Seeing that even he is willing to risk his life when he can just hide is enough to convince him that he will be serving a good master.
