Prior 14 days
As Breder sat there on his stolen throne, he contemplated what to do next when suddenly a fellow child of his came to him and told him Layla would like to have a word with him.
[So, Layla what would you like to discuss] asked Breder as he stood amongst hundreds of eggs
[I was just wondering what you were going to do now, seeing as the chamber is already filled to the brim with eggs] replied Layla
[I see… while I plan on making a few satellite nests further down the mountain. To fix our biggest problem!] replied Breder
[problem?] replied Layla
[Yes! Our biggest problem is that up here in the mountains we don't have enough hosts for the children to grow! This is a major problem! Though thankfully that idiot of a goblin king started a war with the humans!] replied Breder
[And how is that a good thing?] replied Layla
[well, for one: as winter blows in, the snow will make it hard for them to fix any "holes" our good friend here the goblin king made in their settlement defensives! And most importantly of all… it isn't strange for people to go missing in the whiteness of the snow in the forest!] said Breder with a vile smile
[umm… Breder I know I asked this before but… why do you kill people so easily? I kind of understand since I killed a human in the cave a few days back…] replied Layla
[First off Layla I want to ask you something… how are you so sure I was human before… I don't remember telling you… could it be something the evil god told you?] replied Breder
[simple… it's because you don't talk like a monster… you may act like one, but you talk way to human… plus when you told me you made a deal with him, I could only speculate, but now I know for sure.] replied Layla
[you speculated since then?] replied Breder through squinted eyes
[well… not exactly… At that time all I thought about was vengeance. But after I vented out my frustration on the first human I killed, I began to question…] replied Layla
[I see... Well, I did tell you I would confine in you, after your first kill so… tell me how you felt after you killed the man.] replied Breder
[It was… it was… Exhilarating! Sure, at first, I was nervous but… when I remembered all my pain… I realized it wasn't enough! The hunger in me only grew… like I was… starving for so long…] replied Layla
[Aw yes… the hunger… I remember it all too well… When I was human, I was thrust into a world, where my only sin was that I didn't have enough money!] replied Breder to the much-confused Layla
[I see you are confused, let me elaborate further. You see in any world if you have tons of money, anything you did was forgiven, for you were untouchable! But in my youth and impatience I threw myself into my dark desires without discipline before the time was right!] Breder took a pause then continues
[Though I do not care for things such as fame or fortune nor did I do the things I did for revenge or purpose… I did them only to satisfy my heart's desire… and that's why I like this world! Where I can finally feel free to do so!]
[wait…so you only killed people because you felt like it?] asked Layla
[sigh, we all have our desires, some aspire to be heroes, other monsters… I simply chose to be the monster I always wanted to be! Nothing more!] replied Breder as his back faced Layla
[I see… I think I get it but… I am sorry if this is rude but… I think you are just a little bit psychotic! I mean…] replied Layla
[It's ok! In fact, I thank you for the compliment!] interrupted Breder
[compliment?] questioned Layla
[sigh, don't you realize by now, every hero is a psychopath, and every psychopath is a hero!] replied Breder
[How!] replayed Layla with a very confused expression
[Here I will give you an example, if a man makes war with the world but his people love him, is he not a hero to his people but a psychopath to his enemy? If that is not a good enough example, then let me give you one closer to home! If a man frees a slave, is he not a hero to the slave but a psychopath to the slave master?] said Breder
[um...]
Seeing the cogs turning in Layla's head Breder said:
[Think about it! To the slave master, only a psychopath would want to ruin a good thing like having slaves, they don't need to be paid, you can toss them out when you're done with them... Etc... who wouldn't want slaves when it can make your life easier or more profitable! You see it's all about perspective!] replied Breder
[I don't…] replied Layla
[Sigh, the heroes of this world that you know may be viewed as heroes to the humans, but they are no different than psychopathic monsters to the monster with wisdom!] said Breder
[ok I guess I kind of get it but then this leads to another question, if heroes and psychopaths are the same doesn't that mean that their deaths are also the same?] replied Layla
[Of course! For all roads lead to death, sure some might say heroes would have a more meaningful death, but so what! At the end of the day death is death and both will always end on the battlefield] replied Breder
[but… hold up if you truly believe that then… doesn't that mean…] Layal pauses as she sees the most wicked skin crawling smile Breder had ever given!
With shocking eyes and mouth agape she said:
[you knew! Since the very beginning! But why then? Why accept the devil's deal!] continued Layla
[I already told you… to satisfy my hungering heart!] replied Breder as he called his kids to gather for a meeting.
Alright a fourth of you will remain behind to protect the nest! As for the rest of you, you will follow me down the mountain but you three! You three will be undergoing evolution into carriers!
[carriers?] interrupted Layla
[yes, we need carriers to carry the face huggers for they can't live long once they leave the egg.] replied Breder
[They can't?] question Layla
[Nope… sadly, face huggers can't eat, thus they can't replace the minimal energy they expend and end up dying.] replied Breder
After explaining the face hunger situation to Layla, Breder looked around his children and realized he only had 30 surviving drones! Doing quick math Breder, remembered he lost five in the bloody church, while he captured four of the king's men. Then by making three of them into carriers, that leaves him with 27 left to divide. Annoyed by the odd number, Breder decides to make 14 of them into spitters, while the other 13 into warriors!
He also realized at this moment that he didn't get his hands on a single living animal in this dam goblin base! Upset, Breder than remember blacky and Collins can undergo their next evolution now! Breder wasted no time in making them both ravagers!
Unfortunately, because of all the evolutions going on, Breder had to change his plan of scouting out the old goblin fortress outside the mountain for a couple of days!
[well, at least it's nice to be outside for a few… sigh I hope Layla will calm down in a few days….] thought Breder to himself as he had to extract the royal jelly from Layla in order to rush his three carriers!
While outside enjoying the feeling of the cold snow between his hands, Breder raised his tail and blocked the sudden sword that struck down at him from behind! While slowly turning around Breder faced the invisible women whose armor was greatly inspired from a predator's design.
As the woman turned off her cloaking device, many others around her did the same. As Breder looked around, outnumbered and out gun he said unflinching:
[so… what bargain do you wish to make with me?]
[what happened to the goblins that called this place home?] ask the mask woman
[dead to the last man, women and child… but the question is, why do you care?] replied Breder
[shut up monster! We're asking the questions!] replied the woman.
Calming nodding his head, Breder waited patiently for the woman to continue her questioning.
[since you killed all the goblins! Then you will take up their charge! Bring us the food they had stored!] demand the woman
[that's… not possible...] said Breder as the women pointed their weapons in aggressiveness
[sigh, look… the food you want… it's all burned up to ash! There's no food… not even for us!] continued Breder
Conversing with each other the woman asked:
[then what have you been eating all this time?]
[well… goblin and troll meat of course! I do say it's quite good!] replied Breder with a smile that could kill
While frowning in her mask, the woman asked:
[bring us food in weights of tons or we will kill you all!]
With a cheeky smile Breder replied:
[This isn't about food, and you know it… I know what sleep below my stolen throne, so the real question is do you wish for mutual destruction!]
Hearing his words, the woman turned to discuss with her companions,
[Ha! What does a star monster like you, know what sleeps below these cursed mountains!] said the woman
[I know it's a dark "god" that wants to consume the world! I also know you've been watching it for years! And I, to know you let the goblins live here because your stretch too thin watching two DARK GODS!]
Shocked by the aliens' reply, Breder continues
[you come to me with a show of force, under the pretext of wanting simple food that any monster can understand, for through your eyes we are but dumb savages that don't know any better! Though easy to corrupt, also easy to put down, no?]
Seeing this alien's extensive knowledge only made the woman grip her sword with anger, but more than anger, she wanted to kill it because she was afraid! Afraid that if this alien creature became corrupted, he would be their worst enemy they have ever faced in hundreds of years.
Feeling the souring mood Breder said:
[look, let's just get something straight, we both want the same thing here! I also don't want it to get out! Ever! I wasn't lying when I said I knew the horrors that slept just beneath my feet!]
[how can we trust you… for you also came from the stars!] said the woman
[you can't… and you shouldn't! But remember though… when star monsters come down here. They come for different reasons… and mine and his don't a line] replied Breder
[umm… history has shown that all-star monsters want, is to destroy! How is your goal any different!] replied the woman
[Because… my destruction brings life… while their corruption ends life… their servants aren't among the "living" even though they are alive] replied Breder
Think about what Breder had said, the women said:
[As long as you agree to stay within this mountain pass and not extend further out, other than going below the mountain. Then we can maintain peace... Oh! and also allow us to inspect your kind from time to time for "infection".]
Agreeing to their terms, Breder watched as the hot cat predator's women left, while the masked leader made a cheeky smile of her own to her empty right side.
He then said the glimmering shadow to his right:
[Though I appreciate the help, be more careful next time Blacky… she knew you were there the whole time! You need to train yourself more!]
Seeing blacky nod, Breder suddenly said out loud as he heard a notification from vice:
[ It's going to be a cold winter…]
[ding... Beep… your drone has been killed!]
