I placed my hands on my eye, it was bleeding. My beautiful eyes, I could gorge his out but yet, I sniffed as I chanted the rule solemnly in my heart without humming.
Now it seems as if the realisation has dawned on me. This is the punishment for what my people did, they were strictly warned by my mother when things were still right but they ignored her and their ignorance cost them their lives, claiming both the sinful and the innocent and my mother too.
" We better get her to the pack doctor before it's too late". He warned.
" And waste quality medicine on this 'Barbarian " he snorted. " Just wash the eye, put a leaf on it for a while and give her painkillers. We are doing her a favour if she dies".
" Yeah, a great favour.
" If the Alpha finds out, I will deny you the other one said earnestly. He closed my eyes not making a move. He looked to see if there is any other injury and when he was satisfied he found none, he bent down carefully and with just one lift, he carried me up, roughly throwing me over his broad shoulder. " You smell" he spat. I didn't bother to reply to him. Why shouldn't I smell when I have been kept here for God knows how long and still expect me not to smell in this dungeon called cell !.
Wait, did he just say I smell? This is funny, I know that the bad smell oozing out of that place must have probably blocked his nostrils that he now blames the whole thing on me, " poor creatures", growled inwardly.
He sped out of the cell room, Running somewhere I don't know. With my good eye, I caught a glimpse of what I needed to see.
The packhouse was very beautiful than I have expected. I thought they would be living in some kind of old rickety house but what I saw made me gape in amazement. The house was well furnished and looks a bit modernized compared to the wooden structure we had on the island. He took me out to a pond somewhere d threw me on the floor as he cursed under his breath. He knelt in front of me and touched my hand which was on my eye '.
" Let go of your eye", he growled. I didn't let go. He forcefully pulled away from rolling his eyes at the damage I received. " Maxwell just wants to get me killed, acting foolishly all the time… " He grumbled. He grabbed the scruff of my neck, holding it in place. He dipped his hands into the water which rippled at impact and cupped out as much water as his large hand could carry. The moment he stretched his hands Towards my damaged eye I shrugged at the thought of pains I would pass through all in the name of treatment.
He ignored me and stretched his hand a little further as he gently and softly washed my bleeding eyes, ignoring my hiss and whimpers. When he was done washing it, he ran off.
My eyes ached badly, the pain was like I had a needle stuck in my eye. The pain was transferred to the other eye. By the time all this will end, I will be blind, deaf and probably dumb. I sighed.
My mind wandered to Kale, the charming wolf. I kept wondering if he already had a Luna. If he doesn't have, then I guess that other female wolves will be dying for him to make them his Luna but that doesn't work that way in this Wolf's dimension because mating was some kind of a lifetime bond and not just some forced or random marriage the humans normally have with the person that one loves or with the one they don't.
I loathed him, for ending my mother's life. I know he suffered but my mother had nothing to do with the killing, neither did i. I was still wondering what that scent was, the one that pulled me out. What about that howl? I can swear that howl was meant for me but why?
"But why did I perceive that scent? Why?
"How did I perceive it?
"What or who does it belong to
" Who howled
" Why was I drawn to that howl
My fingers tingled, a sudden cold washing came over me when I remembered how Alpha kale touched me; he's cold and yet intriguing. sure had the authority and dominance in it a very intimidating cold voice but somehow, I wasn't intimidated by his voice. If there was anything his voice did to me, it was to make my stomach churn with a weird feeling I was yet to fathom. Remembering his eyes, those bold eyes that hate me with passion, something hit me in the chest. " What's in your silly Head Vanessa? Wait when did I start thinking about this? Kale is nothing but an enemy to you, a murderer. He killed their mother and had her body dismantled feeding her precious body to those heartless creatures of his.
Just remembering what happened in the past made me blazed like an inferno. I just felt as if a phoenix in me has been Awakened, ready to crush and destroy everything that crossed my path. I felt as if I expelled this powerful aura that could kill at an instant, just by the thought of remembering how her sweet smile faded away as those werecreatures munched her body beyond recognition.
" I don't think I could even keep this vow of not killing these creatures but am just vulnerable because I swore in my mother's presence and that of the gods to keep the rule and it was customary that you can't Break a promise once made," I murmured.
The wolf that was treating me returned and forced a wet chewed up leaf on my eye, I flinched but didn't scream.
"What kind of girl are you? You don't even scream or beg", he said with annoyance, tying the leaf in place with a piece of cloth. " Did you save Zelda and her children? I didn't reply. He smacked my head, I didn't flinch, didn't cry, "I stared. He groaned and stood up.
" Keep that leaf on your eye for the next twelve hours, then throw it away. I'll take you back to your cell when you recover".
