TRINNNNG!!!

And the final bell saves us from the knockout of boredom once again.

Everybody walked out of their respective classes and I followed Scott to his locker, as I leaned against the door of my locker, I noticed Allison and her locker was coincidentally just across the hall.

She smiled at us, shy and unsure, I was going to go for it but then the self-proclaimed queen of Beacon hill walked in.

"That jacket is absolutely killer." Lydia said, approaching and appraising Allison with a knowing glance, up and down with an approving nod. Allison's attention was jerked from us to the redhead and I huffed impatiently. I could still hear every syllable, even through the noisy hall. "Where'd you get it?"

"My mom was a buyer for a boutique back in San Francisco." Allison answered Lydia, waving off her praise with an embarrassed shrug.

"And you are my new best friend!" Lydia declared, pointing at Allison with a possessive grin.

I snorted, rolling my eyes at Scott, who was staring at Allison. I noticed it ever since he came into the classroom, Scott kept glancing at the new girl time and time again.

Maybe he found her attractive, I mean who wouldn't.

I nudged my elbow into Scott's side to get his attention, which was for the best, since Jackson grabbed Lydia from behind and started kissing her neck.

A sight to make anybody sick.

'Kill her.'

All of sudden, every memory of Lydia flashed into my mind, every time she didn't notice my presence, every moment she was with somebody else and every kiss she had in the school hall, the humiliation I suffered when she rejected me, they all just showed up from nowhere, raising my anger.

I want to stab a pencil straight into her eyes. I felt the need to snap her neck and punch her face till it became unrecognizable. I wanted to burn her alive and hear her screams.

I am thinking of a thousand different ways to cause her pain and suffering.

"Stiles, you ok?" Scott asked, making me snap out of those bloodcurdling thoughts.

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine." I nodded and slowly looked at Lydia and Jackson still talking to Allison.

Why-Why did I just think all that?

I don't love Lydia anymore but it doesn't mean I hate her either, I-I just don't care about her.

I'm not some obsessive psychopath with personality issues, suddenly going all revenge on my non-existing Ex.

Today is so weird and it's definitely not good.

"Can someone tell me how a girl who's here for five minutes can already hang out with Lydia's clique?"

That was from my friend Lauryn, leaning up next to Scott's locker, clutching her history textbook and shooting dagger glares at Lydia and Allison's retreating backs.

I looked at Allison and back at Lauryn before answering with a smirk. "Because she is hot, beautiful people herd together, you know?"

I turned towards Scott and caught him still staring at Allison. I raised my brows while he gave a sheepish smile and looked down awkwardly.

"Anyway, you guys are going to miss your tryouts." Lauryn said pointing at her watch.

""Oh Shit!!"" Scott and I both cursed and immediately ditched our books into our respective lockers and ran towards the boy's locker room.

As soon as we got to the locker room, we began to change our casuals for the lacrosse uniform.

"Hey Stiles." Scott called, throwing his t-shirt on the table.

"Yeah?" I got into the shorts and stuffed my pants inside the bag.

"Did you know about the party in Lydia's house this Friday?" He asked, I dropped my shirt and turned back with my eyes widened in surprise.

"How did you know about that?!"

"I heard Lydia talking about it in the hall, when she was talking with Allison." He shrugged.

"You heard that too?!" I screamed, earning a few looks from the other guys but once they saw it was me, they just continued with their talks, unbothered by my presence.

Scott looked at me awkwardly and moved a bit away. "Yeah, I mean she was so loud, I would be more surprised if you didn't not hear it."

"No, I heard it!" I held his shoulders and pulled him closer. "But that's the problem, she was not loud at all."

"What are you talking about? It felt like she was practically standing next to me when she said it." He asked with his brows squinted.

"Except, she was not." I reasoned. "She was standing all the way across the hall and we were still able to hear it."

"So, what are you trying to say?" Scott asked, a look of doubt and worry over his confused face.

"I don't know, I just feel like something is wrong."

"Well whatever it is, I can't concentrate on it right now, I need to make it on the team." Scott mentioned confidentially, he took the net in his hands and moved out of the room.

I let out a frustrated sigh as I picked my net and followed behind him.

Scott was already a few feet before me when we reached the ground, he was turning the quick jog as his warm up session while I went heavy with carrying our bags.

"I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna do it." He kept mumbling as I threw the bags in the seats and got into the shoulder pads.

"But if you play, I'll have no one to talk to on the bench." I teased with a broad smile while Scott gave me a cold stare. "Are you really gonna do that to your best friend?"

"I can't sit out again! My whole life is sitting on the sidelines!"

I sighed, bowing once again to Scott's bone-deep sincerity. It was hard, being the best friend of a literal cocker spaniel.

The boy was one collar and one milkbone away from the man's best friend. And yet, I was one hundred percent here for Scott. Up to and including joining the goddamn lacrosse team, which should have been a subclause of the Geneva Convention.

I was about to answer when I saw Lydia and Allison picking their way up into the higher seats of the bleachers.

My logical mind knew that Allison was here to support her new friend's boyfriend, Jackson but my monkey emotions were convinced that she was here for me and I decided to go for it again.

"This season I will make the first line."

And I was distracted once more by Scott's totally irrational objectives.

I was about to call him out but then I saw that Scott was glancing up and to my left...oh. He was staring at Allison, perched next to Lydia. Of course.

I think Scott might have just skipped a whole lot of time in the relationship phase and fell in love with her at first sight.

Well that's gonna be a problem for him, cause Allison is a free game till she's dating him and a part of me doesn't want to step down just because Scott likes her too.

"McCall!"

"Yeah?"

Coach Finstock got right up in Scott's face, right in front of me, right in front of the rest of the team, including Jackson and Danny and Isaac and all of them.

"You're in goal!" Coach proclaimed, like a herald from Olympus.

I was a good enough friend to pretend I didn't see Scott flinch as he caught the equipment.

I fell in with the rest of the team, trying to keep breathing through my mouth to avoid the overpowering odor of jockstraps and unwashed jerseys.

God, what the hell is happening to me? Why am I smelling the lacking laundry skills of my fellow high schoolers?

"I-I've never played," Scott protested, blinking owlishly at Coach.

"I know," Coach returned placidly, smiling like he knew the secrets of the universe. "Scoring some shots will give the boys some confidence! First day back thing!"

Coach slapped Scott on the shoulder soundly, his grin going even more unhinged than usual. "Get 'em energized. Fire it up!"

"What about me?" Scott asked innocently, his face the usual puppish grimace.

"Try not to take any in the face?" Coach suggested glibly, turning away and letting Scott take the targeted spot in the goal. Danny made a distressed noise; Danny Mahealani was the usual team goal, and hated seeing anybody else take the place without practice. Or talent. Or knowledge of how the goal was played.

I couldn't feel much sympathy for Danny as there was something much more important to focus on, the fact that I could clearly hear Scott and Coach conversing from halfway across the field or how Lydia and Allison were leaning into each other and giggling.

Ugh. Distractions. So many fucking distractions, I took 3 pills of Adderall before stepping into the field, why were they not working?!

"Let's go, c'mon!" Coach shouted to the team, as they all lined up for practice, even Greenberg fell in, which was a surprise.

Scott took his place in the goal while I stepped into line behind Tally and Lahey but then, I had to pretend I heard nothing, nothing at all, not Scott's rabbiting heartbeat, not the other team members muttering, not…

"Who is that?" Allison asked Lydia, snatching my scattered focus out of thin air. I swiveled my head toward her, noticing that she was staring at me, her eyebrows furrowed, her full lips pouting.

"Him?" Lydia asked, pointing at me before shaking her head. "I'm not sure who he is."

My vision turned black.
