Gods Among Us (Part 8)

[Immortal's Point of View]

A few years ago, after the god wave, Immortal noticed that his body had changed over time. An ethereal energy began to form within him, gradually accumulating. However, when Inmo attempted to use this energy, he couldn't do much except for flying. Nevertheless, this ability to fly was enough to put a smile on his face for weeks. Though he could now walk through the air, it wasn't like now, where he could break free from gravity's shackles and soar freely through the sky. Over time, Inmo continued to test this new energy and realized that it was formed from the faith of those who believed in him. Upon studying it further, he noticed that this energy was emanating from all the people in his city and some scattered around the world.

Being overjoyed, he decided to proceed with his plan of teaching his people about electricity, biology, physics, and chemistry. With the emergence of the gods, he wanted his people to be intelligent enough to understand how the world works and not easily fall for the lies of pagan gods (gods that arose from the god wave).

[Citizens' Point of View]

Lately, Immortal has been very happy, always sporting a smile on his face, which has made the atmosphere in the city increasingly cheerful. Some days have passed, and Inmo graced us with new knowledge of how the world functions. Everyone is putting in effort to learn and comprehend as quickly as possible. As years go by, the first deities are born, such as Gaia and Uranus. The society Inmo has formed is now called the "Observers," whose lives are dedicated to staying by his side, learning, and cataloging every location in this universe, accompanying Inmo on his quest until their end—a way to prevent Immortal from being alone in his long and eternal life.

The Observers already possess technology comparable to the year 2000, having harnessed hydroelectric power as their main source for inventions. They have satellites in orbit to observe the world beyond their country. When they witnessed the beginning of the war between gods and Titans, they informed Immortal, who stated they wouldn't join the conflict but to notify them if any of them came near. Years passed as the Observers explored the world, and they eventually noticed the movements of Oceanos and Hyperion, who were exterminating the human race. They rushed to inform Inmo, but Hyperion had already reached their main city and was about to destroy everything. However, in the final minutes, Immortal stopped him and took him out of the country. The Observers followed Inmo's battle from the beginning to his arrival at Mount Otris, constantly sending information through the communicator he possessed. This way, they kept track of Oceanos, even when he was in the sea. However, the satellites couldn't observe Inmo's fight against the Titans due to a massive storm that formed in the area. They were concerned for several days until Inmo contacted them to inform that he had dealt with everything and was returning. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief and began organizing a massive celebration to commemorate Inmo's achievements. Once again, he performed a legendary act that would forever be imprinted on our murals and stories passed down to future generations.

[Immortal's Point of View]

As Inmo communicated that he was returning, he could hear laughter and cheers in the background. He couldn't help but smile. Over the years, Inmo had grown very close to them, truly accepting them as part of his life. Although it hurt when one of them left, he knew that this was one of the downsides of being immortal. Some might view it as a curse, but he knew that the souls of those who departed inhabited another plane. In this universe, death was not the end.

This time, he was genuinely grateful for their help. There were several instances when he would have lost Oceanos if not for their information. It was truly incredible how they evolved into a complete society. He always appreciated the powers that granted him an eidetic memory, allowing him to pass on the knowledge from his past life; otherwise, he wouldn't even know where to begin.

With these thoughts in mind, he returned to his country, where he was greeted by a grand celebration that lasted for a week, and he enjoyed every second of it. As years passed, the gods never came close to their territory. Meanwhile, his people continued to evolve their society and technology peacefully. However, this was just the calm before the next storm.
