The cloning trial

Few hours later, Robin came to Douglas's lab. Douglas welcomed him into his office. After exchange of pleasantries, "You sent for me" Robin asked

"Yes" Douglas replied while he sat up and placed his hands on his table "Molly told me about your decision with regards to her research" he asked meanly

"Yes" he replied "Is anything the matter?" he asked in return

"Not really, I'm only worried you decided not to tell your mom" Douglas quarried

"Yes, Mom won't let it happen" he said "See, I'm doing this for dear Molly and dad, please let it be the only good thing I will do for her" he pleaded

"Ok, I'm sure you know what you are getting yourself into because anything can happen" Douglas warned meanly

"Now you are scaring the shit out of me" Robin said leaning back on his seat

"I only want you to dispose your mind for it" he tried to calm him down

"Come on it's just a trial, not like I'm gonna be stucked as an animal?" he questioned

"Sure" he said "Its fine if you want to pull through with it" he concluded

"Cool" Robin said and stood up to leave "Please keep it away from mom, don't tell no matter what" he requested

"Ok" he agreed and Robin left.

In the evening, Molly put a call through to Douglas informing him of the outcome of the meeting she had with the medical team she contracted.

"The doctor demanded to see Robin for some biochemical tests and as well assess his medical fitness for the trial. He also asked of the family medical consent and approval signatories, I told him I will endorse that. I suppose he will see a dietitian and physiotherapist too" She reported

"Ok" Douglas replied

"I told Robin already, I think he has an appointment with the doctor tomorrow" she said

"Alright" Douglas replied slowly

"You seem cold about this, are you ok?" she asked worriedly

"No, I'm fine, the lab will be ready anytime. When is it going to be?" Douglas asked trying to be lively

"In three weeks' time" she answered

N

"Cool" he replied

"Bye" she said and hung up the call

A week later. Susan went to see Douglas. She is worried about Molly's strange happiness and her sudden alliance with Robin. She asked Douglas if Molly mentioned her source of happiness or if he knows what they are up to, but he denied having knowledge of anything they have in plans.

On the speculated day, Robin and Molly left very early to the lab. The doctors, dietitian and physiotherapist had monitored him for the past three weeks to ascertain his fitness. Molly and the veterinary doctors played their parts well to ensure the extracted somatic fluids aren't contaminated, they also checked the appropriate dosage for him and made sure they have every factor pertaining to the cloning trail under control.

Molly and Robin signed on the family's medical consent and approval form. Douglas signed as the surety. As they stepped out of the room, one of the personnel handed over the theatre cloth to Robin.

"Please, wear this" she said as she handed it over to him

"Ok" he replied and collected it

"I will be here" Molly said as Robin went to change

In a short while, he came back dressed in the cloth which is a bit over size for him.

"I look so weird on this" he said while looking at himself on the mirror and laughed

"Yeah" Molly affirmed as he sat by her "Your hands are shaking" she noticed

"Yeah, maybe I'm tensed, but I will be fine" he assured

"Ok" Molly replied

Immediately, Doctor Larry in charge of the medical team walked up to them

"Hi" he said while he waved at them smiling

"Hi" they replied simultaneously

"Yeah, how are you feeling Robin?" he asked

"I'm fine" Robin replied

"That's good, from your laboratory test results conducted this morning, it shows you are fit for the cloning trail" he said smiling

"Alright" Robin replied as Molly smiled

"I will be in the theatre" he said and left. Then Molly turned to Robin

"Thanks for doing this for me" Molly said puffing her cheeks to smile

"It's ok" he replied rubbing her hand

"Yeah, I will be back" she said

"Ok" he replied as Molly stepped out

Molly went to make sure Douglas is at home with what they are about to do, he confirmed he is comfortable since it's just a trial. When she returned she couldn't find Robin. After some minutes, he came out of the toilet.

"We are ready" Doctor Larry announced

"Thank You Robin, I will be waiting for you right here" Molly said

"Why do you sound and act like I'm going to die?" Robin asked "Come here" he said and dragged her closer "Relax, I will be fine. I love you so much sis" he said and kissed her forehead.

"I love you too" she replied as they hugged each other

"Goodluck" Douglas said and patted his back

"Yeah" he replied smiling as he moved into the theater.

Molly, Douglas and a technician (Douglas's staff) were separated from the theater by a transparent glass that enabled them see and hear all that was happening. Inside the theater is Robin, a nurse, anesthetist, veterinary doctor and doctor Larry. The medical team stood close to the bed Robin laid on in a circular form all ready to start. Then the technician switched on the theater's camera to capture all that will happen.

The theater is illuminated by white lights that can enable one see the tiniest thing the eyes can capture. Medical instruments to be used are all situated in their respective positions.

"Good morning everyone, today we are here to carry out a cloning trial proposed by Molly Chopkins on Robin Chopkins. It involves injecting the somatic fluid gotten from proposed animals into Robin then watch and monitor his reactions to it for military advantage" then he pursed and picked up the nurse's report

"Your vital signs assessment this morning suits a normal condition for this trail. Blood pressure 120/86mmHg, blood sugar 98mg/dl, pulse rate 88 beats per minute, not pale, not anemic, no signs of malnutrition, no fractures and internal bleeding. With this, I medically predict we are safe to start" he addressed them and turned to put on his gloves and glasses.

"Now, before we commence. I would like to ask, Robin how do you feel? What do you have to tell us all present here?" Larry asked

"I thank everyone present here, the medical team, Mr. Douglas and my lovely sister Molly. I decided to embark on this to appreciate Molly's efforts and revive my father's lost name. I hereby dedicate this cloning trail to my dad, Donald Chopkins. I also appreciate my mom for everything she has done for me and Molly since our father's demise. I was a bit scared but right now I'm cool" he said laughing "So, let's do this, to prove the cloning method is worth it and go home" he concluded smiling.

Molly's smiles during Robin's speech depicted a clear sign of self-fulfillment, love and satisfaction. She felt indebted to Robin for his willingness to be part of her research. As Robin concluded she decided never to neglect family for his action.

"Alright," Larry said "We appreciate you too" he added

"Please check all instruments and make sure they are ready for use" Larry said to the nurse. She checked, "Ready" she replied

"Now we will start, ready?" he asked looking at Robinh

"Yes" he answered "Good" Larry nodded

"Ready?" he also asked the other medical practitioners

"Ready" they chorused.

Then the technician switched on a popular classical music, I do it for love by Laurel Clarion. The music played in a stereo and is heard through speakers in the theater and outside where Molly and Douglas stood. The classical is to calm down nerves and tension already in air. Also, predict a successful trial.
