A hunt

Next day Sergeant Jax gather the squad leaders inside his office for extra report and informations. He gave each of them a scroll, opening it they found a map of a dark forest showing were to find different types of beast tiers.

Gathering infront of the main depot were none other than students. They were in groups waiting for their squad leaders.

It didn't take long as the double doors were swung opened, from the inside three students could be seen came out of the building each holding a scroll.

Walking to their respective squad, they exchanged words for some time before every group took their own path.

Walking away from the outpost Squad 11 pass through a river to the other side, the group was silence while continue with their match toward their destination. It was hard to tell if it was because of their misunderstanding or something else.

At some point Ethan raised his right arm, it was safe for everyone to understand they were indicated to stop their movement.

Everyone did....

"According to a given map, we are now inside a danger zone. We should be careful from now on."

It didn't take long for them to spot a beast roaming, it was a board type beast with two strange thing like trunks that came out of it's mouth. It wasn't that long either, it was around one meter tall. When it spotted them, it made some strange noise before it started charge toward the group of teenagers.

"Stay in battle formation." Ethan shouted.

They both created an arrow type shape like formation, while taking their fight stance. Though their was Xander who hasn't act either, he just stand behind them with his arms folded around his chest.

When the beast reached some distance Ethan sprinted forward, he jumped on the air with his hands closed together. Reaching the ground he swung them hitting the land, the ice spread in straight direction toward the beast. When the ice made contact with a beast it froze it on a place.

Attempting to break free a green energy type blast hit the beast right on it's bell, a hole could be seen and blood poured from it. It scream in pain but then a fire ball hit one of it's leg and break it right and there. However the last attack has melted the ice a little bit which break the beast free.

Out of furious it charged in with it's three legs, it wasn't as fast as before but still it was faster enough to surprise it's enemy. But then a disturbance of wind appeared and the beast's neck was cut, it was a clean cut which separated it's head away from it's body. They all turned to look at the one who made an attack. She smiled at them before walk to the lifeless beast laying on the ground.

She made a cut on a beast chest, she slid her hand inside a chest through a cut she had made and out of it she drew a small tennis sized crystal. Handing it to Ethan, she winked at Xander who was still standing at his original position folding his arms.

Ethan looked at Xander's direction who was standing comfortable observing them.

"You are useless." Ethan sighed.

Claire winked to Xander while wearing a knowing smile on her face. She knew Xander for a long time now, they have been sharing things here and there. Despite of knowing that there is something he has been hiding from her, she believe Xander's prowess is on another level.

Their next encounter was a buffalo type beast, it looks the same as a normal buffalo except for it's three large red eyes, large frame and strong mascular legs. It was around two meters tall with a fierce look on it's face.

Just as before it charge toward them when it noticed their presence, it gave them a challenge but then they defeated the beast while Xander was on the side watching them again. This goes on for a long time as they met with different types of beast and kill them.

Reaching at what looks like a plain the group heard the sound from the ground, it seems like it was shaking a little, they could tell something was off since even their bodies were responding on the shaking ground.

"Is it just me or everyone can feel it?" Aston asked.

"I can feel it too. The ground is shaking." Raya answered.

Before anyone can understand what was going on, out from the bush behind them a beast came rushing toward the group.

Turning around they could see a rhino type beast rushing to their side. It was around two meters long with three long horns grew from its snouts. It's body was light purple while it's horns were dark red in colour.

Everyone jumped at the side avoiding a charging beast but still for some reason they were thrown apart. Picking themselves from the ground they all wore a surprising expression.

"What happened?" Aston nearly shout. "Is it a middle tier beast?"

"Wait, where is Xander?" Claire asked in a panic voice.

Then everyone at that time looked around but Xander was no where to be seen.

"That bitch, where did he go and when?" Ethan shouted. "Don't tell me he is..."

"Stop jump on conclusion." A familiar voice resounded through there ears. When still wondering where the voice had came from, Xander landed right infront of them. "And yes, it's a middle tier beast. A rhino stage four beast."

In terms of beast's tiers, there were three tiers, low, middle and high tier. Were as a low tier was composed of stage 1 to stage 3, middle tier was composed of stage 4 to stage 6 and high tier composed with stage 7 to stage 9.

"What is a middle tier beast doing he...?" Aston was forced to interrupt his sentence since a beast was right on their side.

They react and get out of the way as posible but Aston failed to react on time as the beast was a few inches away from him.
