Li Meifeng's usual flirty tone was something Li Zhiyan was well familiar with. But even now, he found himself instinctively glancing at Ruan Shiyun.
If Auntie Ruan really wanted to "feed" him, he thought, he wouldn't have to worry about food at all.
Feeling Li Zhiyan's gaze linger on her, Ruan Shiyun rolled her eyes at Li Meifeng. She'd considered making Li Zhiyan her godson, yet here was Li Meifeng steering the conversation into such suggestive territory.
What could she do with a friend like this?
"Can you stop talking nonsense in front of the child?" Ruan Shiyun chided.
Li Meifeng shrugged nonchalantly. "It's not nonsense. Doesn't he like aunties? Otherwise, why would he confess to Gu Wanzhou? I'd bet he secretly wishes you'd feed him too."
Even Li Zhiyan, with all his experience in handling awkward comments, felt his defenses weaken.
"Li Aunty, what exactly is the issue with your company's system?"
If he didn't change the subject now, this conversation would veer completely out of control. Not that he didn't enjoy the idea of being "fed" by Auntie Ruan, but…
"Oh, it's like this, Xiao Yan. There's an issue with the clock-in system at Auntie's company, and some employee files can't be accessed through their ID numbers."
Li Meifeng had tried finding technicians online, but the prices they quoted were exorbitant, and none had guaranteed they could fix it. Remembering how capable Li Zhiyan was, she felt confident he could solve the problem.
"Alright, Li Aunty. Let's head over so I can take a look."
The three of them made their way into the building. In the elevator, Li Meifeng couldn't resist teasing again.
"Ruan, your charm really is something. Our company's General Manager Liu heard you were coming today, so he made sure to be here too."
"He's still hoping you'll agree to be his lover."
Hearing the name Liu Huan, a look of disdain flickered across Ruan Shiyun's face. She truly disliked this man. He might be attractive, but he was infamous for his wandering eyes and had deceived more than a few married women.
There was no way she would become his lover.
"Of course, not that you'd be interested," Li Meifeng continued, a playful grin on her face. "You're too busy these days feeding this little guy to worry about finding a lover."
Finally, Ruan Shiyun couldn't take it anymore.
"Keep it up, and I swear I'll tear that mouth of yours to pieces!"
"Alright, alright, I'll stop. We're here."
Li Meifeng straightened up as they stepped out of the elevator and into the office space. Her habit of saying outrageous things was best saved for private moments. But as she glanced back at Li Zhiyan and Ruan Shiyun, she couldn't help but feel that one day, this kid would be more than well-fed by Ruan Shiyun.
"Good morning, President Li."
"Hello, President Li."
Employees greeted Li Meifeng as they passed. Li Zhiyan took note of her company; it wasn't large, with only about a few dozen employees, but considering her lifestyle, she was definitely doing well for herself. The bosses he'd met recently all operated at a similar level and were part of a close-knit social circle.
Once they entered the manager's office, Li Meifeng turned to Li Zhiyan.
"Xiao Yan, have a seat. Auntie will get you a glass of water."
Just then, a man by the window, wearing sunglasses despite the indoor setting, turned around. Though he appeared to be in his forties, his demeanor exuded the confidence and charm of a mature, good-looking man.
Li Zhiyan looked at him and resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Sunglasses indoors in broad daylight—was he trying to look cool?
Well, this was someone from another generation, after all. Their idea of style was different from his own.
"Shiyun, you're here," Liu Huan greeted her with a smile. "Are you free tonight? Let's have dinner together."
His eyes wandered over Ruan Shiyun's shapely figure. He had been with many women, but someone as fair-skinned and curvaceous as Ruan Shiyun was rare. Those long, snowy legs of hers were hard to look away from, and her full figure was… impressive, to say the least.
Imagining what she looked like under all those layers made his heart race with desire. But Ruan Shiyun had always been indifferent to his advances.
His wife might also be a stunning woman, but after so many years, he had grown tired of her. Right now, his only goal was to get Ruan Shiyun to agree to spend a night with him.
"Give it a rest, old Liu," Li Meifeng teased. "She's not interested in you. She likes younger men."
She glanced at Li Zhiyan and winked at Liu Huan, giving him a light nudge on the shoulder. "See this? This is exactly her type, so she's busy taking care of him."
Liu Huan was momentarily speechless, glancing between Li Zhiyan and Ruan Shiyun. Could it be that she'd really been feeding him? The thought made jealousy rise within him, but he had to hold his composure—he couldn't lose face in front of this kid.
The idea that this young boy might have "tasted" what he so desperately wanted only made the jealousy burn brighter.
"Auntie Li, which one is the main computer? I'll get to work right away."
If he didn't start now, this bizarre exchange would only keep spiraling. While he might not mind such innuendo in small doses, this conversation was starting to stretch even his limits.
"It's the one on the left," Li Meifeng replied, finally adopting a more serious tone.
This was, after all, an important task.
After she pointed out the system, Li Zhiyan took a sip of the tea she'd brought him and got to work.
"Li Meifeng, is this 'expert' technician you hired really just this kid?" Liu Huan scoffed.
Liu Huan seemed to understand now why this boy was close to Ruan Shiyun—probably because he'd boasted about his skills to her.
"Of course. He may only be eighteen, but he's a programming prodigy. You, on the other hand, can't compare. That's why Ruan Shiyun has such a fondness for him."
Smirking, she leaned closer. "I think you should give up."
Liu Huan clenched his jaw, but his years of self-control prevented him from showing much emotion. Watching Ruan Shiyun's admiring gaze toward Li Zhiyan only fueled his envy. Had she truly been caring for him in such an intimate way? Had he enjoyed the very privilege Liu Huan craved?
"Shiyun, we're both adults in our forties. You shouldn't take a child's words so seriously," Liu Huan said, forcing a smile. "At his age, how much can he really know about computers? Being so close with a kid isn't exactly appropriate. You should draw a line between men and women."
"People will talk if they see it."
