Chapter 8 - I'm sorry

An image of a hazy, feminine figure appeared in front of Ximen Wei, and magically, the dirty, filthy surroundings transformed into a beautiful sunflower field. The sun shone brightly and the birds chirped happily as the girl turned to face him. She was wearing a white robe that extended to her knees, and a sunhat adorned with a crimson red flower. Despite her facial expressions being blurry, Ximen Wei could tell that she was smiling at him.

His breath turned ragged and his heart pounded loudly as he reached out his arm to her, but just as he thought he was about to touch her, she disintegrated into a cloud of black particles that dispersed with the wind. 'I'm... sorry,' Ximen Wei said quietly, his arms dropping to his sides as tears streamed down his face. 'When I'm back... I swear... I will fix everything. I won't make the same mistakes again. I won't ever hurt you again.'

Surrounded by filth and garbage, Ximen Wei sobbed quietly in the dark corner, his heart heavy with sorrow and regret. But after collecting himself, he wiped away his tears and stood up, determination and resolve shining through his dark, lifeless irises. He clenched his fists and looked up, facing the sky and the earth as he made a promise – a promise to return home, return to Earth, and fix what he had broken. It was a promise that he would not break, no matter what the cost.

As he thought of the people he had left behind, an image of a hazy, feminine figure appeared before him. Magically, the filthy and dirty surroundings transformed into a beautiful sunflower field, with the sun shining brightly and the birds chirping happily.

The girl was dressed in a white robe that extended to her knees, and a sunhat adorned with a crimson red flower. She turned around and looked at Ximen Wei, and although her facial features were blurred, he could tell that she was smiling at him.

His breath grew rough and his heart thumped loudly as he reached out his arm towards her. But just as he was about to touch her, she disintegrated into a cloud of black particles that dispersed on the wind.

'I'm... sorry,' Ximen Wei whispered to himself, his heart heavy with regret.

Like a deflated balloon, Ximen Wei's arms dropped to his sides as tears streamed down his face. 'When I'm back... I swear... I will fix everything. I won't repeat the same mistakes again. I won't ever hurt you again,' he promised himself, his heart heavy with regret and sorrow.

He had never felt so alone and helpless, and all he could do was let the tears flow freely.

---------------

"Urgh! This humilation!" The fat middle-aged man with greasy, oily skin raged as he swept the table, sending a rain of plates, bowls, and cups crashing to the ground. "A lowly slave dares to escape?" Song Peizhi bellowed in anger, his face contorted with fury as he continued wreaking havoc in the mansion.

The maids and servants kept their heads low, fearing for their lives as they watched their noble master's rage unfold. They all wished they could escape and hide until his anger was subdued, but they knew they had no choice but to endure it.

The mansion was filled with the sound of breaking dishes and the angry shouts of Song Peizhi as he vented his frustration. It was a scene of chaos and destruction, one that left the servants trembling in fear and desperation. They knew that they would have to wait until their master's anger was spent before they could breathe a sigh of relief.

"Who tied up the lowly slave?" Song Peizhi lifted his head, his eyes brimming with anger, and asked a nearby butler. "S-Sir, it was Officer Fan-" The butler began to answer, but before he could finish his sentence, Song Peizhi erupted into a fit of rage. "Lock him up in the dungeon!" he yelled out loudly, his voice echoing through the mansion.

The butler cringed in fear, knowing that he had no choice but to comply with his master's orders. He quickly summoned a group of guards, who dragged Officer Fan away to the dungeon, where he would be locked up and punished for his failure.

Meanwhile, Song Peizhi continued to seethe with anger, his rage consuming him as he vowed to find Ximen Wei and make him pay for his escape. He would stop at nothing to see his slave brought back to him.

Everyone in Green Lotus City knew of Song Peizhi's depraved and twisted practices, and how he took pleasure in torturing others, especially children. His "dungeon" had gained a nasty reputation over the years, with countless innocent lives lost within its walls.

Despite this, no one dared to speak out against him. His status as a noble, coupled with his powerful backing, made people turn a blind eye to his evil actions, even the City Lord of Green Lotus City, a Rank 2 Qi Expert, said nothing about it.
