THE BEGINNING.

"Sleeping is the best way to escape pain, but what if you can't sleep?."

"Yuko why haven't you gone home yet, the bell has already rung." Ms. Hiroshi asked. I plastered a fake smile then looked at her, "Oh sorry, I.... Forgot." She looked at me, baffled and as she walked away said "You weird boy." As soon as I reached home aunt Akane asked me how my day was, but I just ignored her. In my room, I fell flat on my bed, I couldn't hold it in anymore, tears rolled down my cheeks and all of a sudden I remembered that night. It was my 10th birthday. My parents and I were going to Huis Ten Bosch, the largest amusement park in Japan. On our way there, I poured hot tea on my father when he was driving, he lost control of the steering wheel and crashed on the side of a truck.

Prior to the impact, my mother covered me with her soft body, basically taking all the impact for me.The doctors tried to save them but to no prevail. The only thing I have left of them is a pendant that belonged to my mom.Ever since that day I keep on wondering why I had to live... someone like me? I wiped my tears and picked up my phone, I dialed suicide control but ironically, no one picked up. I found it funny so I chuckled, I opened the fridge to check if their was anymore ramen, unfortunately they were over.

I decided to go buy some so I wore my rain coat and went to the grocery store. After I bought the ramen, I decided to walk around. I stopped at a bridge under which was a deep river. When I looked down to the river, I felt like it was calling me, TELLING ME TO JUMP IN. I stood on the guard rail, ready to jump in. However, someone said to me "That wouldn't make the person who left you happy." In shock I fell off the guard rail but not into the river. As I turned around to see who that was, it was Sora Aya, a girl in my class. "What do you want," I said. Nothing, just don't want you to jump. She walked away mysteriously. "Who the fuck does she think she is, an angle," I said to myself.

After sitting their for a while, I decided to go home and sleep. "Yuko I was so worried darling , where were you?" She asked worriedly. "I was just going out to buy ramen." I said. She let out a slow smile,"Okay, let's eat dinner." As soon as I ate dinner, I laid on my bed and fell asleep. The following day in school, I sat next to Emi, the popular girl, she was also my girlfriend. "Hey Yuko, wanna meet after school, we can go to my house." She said while rubbing her finger on my chest."Oh, sorry I am busy today." I said with a shaky voice. She said "Too bad," while pounting her lips. " Yo, what's that pendant your wearing, let me see it." She pulled it out breaking the clasp. I snatched it back then pushed her. "What the hell are you doing." I shouted. Everyone in the class looked at me. Murmurs filled the air."I... am sorry." Emi said in a low voice.

Immediately after, the principal had an announcement, "Yuko, please come to the principals office, I repeat....." Thanking God for breaking up the awkwardness. I quickly took my bag and left the classroom. No sooner had I entered the office than I ass as t down. "Ms. Hiroshi, what is the matter." I asked. "After classes let's meet at the spear class1, don't be late." Disappointedly, I left the office, "I just wanna go home." I said to myself. At the afternoon, when I entered the spare class to my  surprise, their were 5 other people including ms. Hiroshi. They all looked at me and after a few seconds recognised them. They were other kids from my class, however, they were the non-popular ones.

Ms. Hiroshi signalled me to take a seat. "Yuko, I bet you are wondering what's going on here, one of the students here reported to me that you were about to end yourself yesterday? Is that true?" She asked. With a shaky voice I said, "maybe." "What do you mean maybe, you were standing on the guard rails of a bridge." A dull voice said from behind. It was Sora, the girl from the bridge. "What do you know," I said. "Probably more than you cause I don't wanna jump of a bridge." She said. "Did you just hear what she said?" I asked ms. Hiroshi. "That's enough,"she yelled "Yuko, this is the double S club, in full STOP SUICIDE club.

Every high school in Japan has one of these clubs, and the goal of this club is to reduce the rate of deaths due to suicide. Everyone in this room has gone through a traumatising incident... including me, by the end of high school everyone inside this room should be happy with their lives, any questions, no? Okay, from tomorrow we will introduce each other, we will also have several trips to different places in the future, you are all dismissed." Immediately after I went home wondering why this had to happen to me.
