Prologue

After a dreamless night, full of wiggling and quiet snores, Anna woke up to some loud noises coming out of the hallway and gazed at her neatly arranged belongings. Affording this much privacy had been a miracle in itself, even when her unit was so fucking small.

She endured a quick cold shower, hurriedly put her long dark hair up in a messy bun, and sat down on her bed.

After waiting anxiously for over six months, Anna was thrilled that the new VR set had finally arrived.

As she grabbed the helmet, excitement washed through her body. It had been a tough week, but this was her escape. With the headset in place, she shut out the cold reality and embraced the new realm, ready to escape far away from the monotony of her daily life.
