Squad Dynamic

(Kin Pov)

Me, Shino, and Hinata gazed at each other. Today, we would all be fighting against each other. And, of course, as team leader, I had two fights back to back. First against Hinata and then against Shino.

I gazed at Hinata.

[Hinata Hyuga]

[Genin]

[Threat High]

Kurenai said, "Now, unlike the academy today, you will not be holding back. A team needs to understand each other and their skill sets, so put on a show!"

I attacked Hinata with screws from a distance. Hinata deflected them with her hands, but at a small price as a small amount of blood poured out of her hands. But these attacks limited her movements. And, with my slight speed advantage, I knew she could never reach me. Maybe that was the point?

Kurenai said, "Alright that's enough." I thought, what was the point of that? None of us could do anything significant. "Ok, let's Shino, Kin you're up."

I gazed at Shino.

[Shino Aburame]

[Genin]

[Threat High]

Unlike Hinata, we were both ranged fighters. Would this be a showcase of skill or something different?

Kurenai said, "Begin," and I tossed a few screws at Shino. However, he smirked and unleashed bugs, which deflected my screws and rushed toward me. I bit my lip. Shino had the edge in the ranged department.

With ranged attacks out of the question, Shino forced me into the same situation as Hinata. With a decent chakra flare, I sprinted towards Shino, preventing his bugs from reaching me. [-4 chakra] Of course, it was not a tactic I could use for long.

Shino ran away from me while adding kunai to his ranged attack but also hiding them behind his swarm. I countered by surrounding myself with chakra strings, protecting myself from Shino's ranged attacks for a good amount of time. [-10 chakra]

Kurenai yelled out, "Well done, everyone!" Me and Shino stopped our fight and jogged toward our instructor. "Alright guys, now that we've seen a little of everyone's skill set, what will be your basic formation?"

I rubbed my chin. "Hinata's taijutsu will be the focus of everything. It's best to attack from range and have Hina deal with anyone who makes it close to us."

Shino nodded. "Indeed, Kin can harass our enemies from a distance, and Hinata can provide a moveable safe zone, of course, I can also support him from range."

I noticed Hinata looking at the floor. Did she think we were underestimating her? "I don't agree, I think Hinata is the strongest and she should do more."

Everyone lifted their brow, but I continued. "With Hinata in our team, we will always win close-range battles, which is nearly half the battle. If Shino and myself focus on long-range attacks, few teams can beat us."

I gazed at Hinata and said, "But that makes you the cornerstone of our team. Not only will you have to deal with anyone that breaks past us, we will also need your commands while me and Shino attack our enemies. And, worst case, we will end up supporting you in close combat, which is going to put you in the spotlight."

Kurenai said, "Shino, Hinata, what do you think?"

Hinata puffed her chest and yelled out, "No one will get past me without a fight," while Shino simply nodded.
