Rising of the Shield Hero Re-Rise

"Oh wow…"

I heard the sound of people marveling at something and suddenly was awake again. My eyes weren't ready to focus on anything, but I pointed them straight ahead anyway. There were men in robes, looking at me in awe, and apparently speechless.

"What's all this?"

I turned in the direction of the voice and discovered three other people there.

They were quite familiar.

I flipped my head left and right and found that I was in a room. The walls were made of stone. Is that what they call brick?I think it was Somewhere I'd been before.

I looked at the floor. It was covered in geometric patterns that had been painted in some sort of florescent material. There was also an altar of some kind. It looked like something

We were standing on the altar.

It was the moment that I Realised, that I've (****ed up) came back in time.

Oh come on, not again!

"Where are we?"

Ren, the sword hero asked some men in robes.

"Oh Heroes! Please save our world!"

"What?!"

Three other heroes shouted in unison, since I knew what was happening

"What is that supposed to mean?"

Since I know what's going to happen next, let's just wait for the story to unfold itself and then I'll start my secret manuer!

"There are many complications in this situation, but to offer a simple answer to your question, we have just completed an ancient ceremony and summoned you four Heroes."

"Summoned?"

Yeah you fools

"Our world teeters on the brink of destruction. Heroes, please lend us your strength," said the robed men, bowing very deeply to us.

"I don't think so."

"Yeah, me neither."

"We can go back to our world, right? We'll talk about your problems after that."

What? Did they think it was okay to speak to someone like that? Someone that was bowing to us out of desperation? Why couldn't they save their conclusions until after they'd heard the bulk of the situation?

I glared at them in silence, and soon the three of them were looking me over. What were they smiling about? We could all feel the room growing tense.

Only then that I realised.

they were actually happy to be there. Think about if it were true! They'd get the chance to have adventures in another world. It'd be a dream come true! Sure, it's a cliché, but still, couldn't you at least hear them out?

The conversation is going just like the last time

Ren pointed his sword at the robed men

Oh I know what he's going to say, Don't you feel any guilt for calling people into your world without their permission?

"Besides," said the Itsuki, the hero with the bow and arrows, "Even if we save you and bring peace to your world, you'll just send us back home, right? That just sounds like a job to me." He was glaring at the robed men.

"I wonder how much you've considered our opinion on this. I wonder how it could be worth our while? Depending on how the conversation goes, keep in mind that we might end up enemies of your world."

For what he's so angry about?

Just like last time, they figured out their standing and demanded a reward.

"Yes, well, we would very much like you to speak with the king. He will discuss future compensation with you in the throne room."

One of the robed men, apparently their leader, leaned against a very heavy looking door until it opened, at which point he pointed in the direction we were to go.

"Whatever."

"Fine."

"I don't think it really matters who we talk to, but whatever."

My outspoken companions complained as they left the room in the direction indicated.

Last time, I didn't want to be left alone, so I followed them out. I have to do it this time too. I don't want the things to change much, not until I get Raphtalia and filo.

We walked out of the darkened room and down a hallway made of stone. how should I describe it? The air felt... fresh. Vocabulary has never been my strong suit. We stole a glance through a window, and the scenery took a normal person's breath away. Not mine since I've already seen it many times before.

The clouds were high, high in the sky for as far as you could see. below us, a town spread out from the building we were in, all the houses lined up pretty, just like one of those European cities you'd see featured in a travel brochure.

"Huh, so these kids are the four Holy Heroes?"

Trash was sitting there on the throne. He leaned forward as he spoke.

"My name is Aultcray Melromarc XXXII, and I rule these lands. Heroes, show me your faces!"

Since I've already heard this crap, let's just find a way to get away from it.

I bowed to trash, and said,"Oh king, I'm feeling a bit ill Right now. Therefore, can I rest for sometime? Also, I've made my mind of helping this world, it would be an honor for me"

"I appreciate your goodwill, Mr hero. Tell me your name" trash asked

"My name is Naofumi Iwatani" I just told my name, not more than necessary.

"Very well, maybe it's becouse of summoning magic that you're feeling a bit dizzy. You can rest for now. Guards, show mr Naofumi his room"

"Yes your majesty" both said in unison.

The guards led me to our, the heroes room. Can't they afford at least some private rooms for the heroes?

They headed towards the throne room. Now I was alone in this room. There were ornate beds prepared for us in the provided chamber.

I immediately took off my shirt. And, I'm a bit disappointed right now, no muscles, no six packs. A body just like a normal neet. Guess my body also got reset.

I focused on the icon hanging out of my peripheral vision and the icon expanded to take over my field of vision.

weapon book was empty since I only have this shield right now.

After doing some experiments, I heard the footsteps of some peoples, maybe of other heroes. I went to my bed and acted like I was sleeping.

"Hey Naofumi"- motoyasu tried to wake me up.

"Motoyasu, let Naofumi rest"- Ren scolded him.

Come to think of it, they all are pretty good. If only my circumstances had been better last time. But, there's no time to regret now. Life has given me a second time, and I'm not going to let it waste.
