Chapter 30: The Abengers Part 3

*Kirari POV*

"Ugh…"

I once again woke up feeling like shit but not as bad as before.

I got so used to waking up with the Full Rest mod that not feeling its effects just feels… wrong. My Health and Energy are back to full and my State is Healthy on my system, yet I didn't feel like my usual self.

Checking the time on the wall clock in my room, I thought about what I had to do today.

First, I had to set up a meeting with Mei.

I need her help to remake some of my equipment like my pierrot mask and Air Trecks.

I lost most of my arsenal last night, and re-equipping myself will take too long if I try to do it discreetly again.

Of course, I won't be telling her that I will use the equipment to hunt down Villains.

Sadly, we'll have to keep it a secret from Momo since she's too much of a law-abiding citizen. She might report us to the authorities if she found out that Mei and I will be making "support items" without a license.

I reached out to my nightstand to where I usually leave my phone so I could call Mei, but then I remembered that it was destroyed in the explosion.

"Haaa. Guess I'll borrow mom's phone. She's probably awake by now." I grumbled as I got out of bed.

(Scene Break)

The phone call with Mei went easier yet more tiring than I thought. I was able to get her to agree to come over for a sleepover tomorrow night. Now I just need to plan what I'm going to say to her.

"Here's your phone back, mom. And here's a cup of tea." I said while handing them to my mom.

I joined my mom on the couch with my own cup of tea that I made for myself. We sat in the living room and watched the morning news on TV. She already approved of the sleepover since it will be on a Friday night and Mei didn't have school the day after.

My mom had temporarily stopped doing hero activities due to her pregnancy.

In another month or two, she will give birth to my little sister, much to Nii-chan's dismay. He wanted a little brother while my parents wanted another daughter.

They said that they did not feel like they got the full "daughter experience" out of me because I was too mature and tomboyish, which was understandable considering I was male in my past life.

I tried my best, really, but skirts just didn't make me feel "safe" enough to wear… My mom still hasn't given up trying to make me wear one though.

Hopefully, my future little sister will help take some of the heat off me.

"Thanks, Kirari. What happened to my old phone that I gave you?"

"Um… I sort of took it apart to study the components and stuff. It stopped working even after I put it back together…" I said the excuse I thought up with a guilty expression.

"Well, I guess it can't be helped. If it can't be salvaged, then make sure to dispose of it properly." Mom said resignedly since she knew of my tendencies to tinker with stuff especially when Mei is around.

"Un! Dad also said that I'll be getting a one of the new phones that I helped create so no need to buy me a new one."

"That's great honey. But don't use it too much and get distracted, okay? How are your studies going? Make sure not to neglect them. Your dad and I had a hard time convincing the school to allow you to study at home you know…"

When it comes to the education of me and Nii-chan, mom can get a little scary. It was hard to convince her to allow me to homeschool.

Elementary school would just a waste of time for me. I did graduate and got a degree in my last life after all. The only subjects I really have to study are this world's history and customs as well as Japanese language.

"No worries mom. I'm doing alright. There's going to be a test next week to check if I'm keeping up with my grade's curriculum. I can ace them all with my eyes closed! I even bet that I can take Nii-chan's tests and still score higher than him. I already help him with his homework sometimes."

"That's my little genius!" She said while ruffling my hair with the legendary anime head pat.

"Honestly, it's like you are the older sibling instead of Denki."

"Yeah~ Maybe Nii-chan should call me 'Onee-chan' instead?" I said merrily.

Now that I think about it, that would be a good punishment for Nii-chan the next time he fails one of my challenges.

Got to put pressure on him by showing him that his little sister is above him, but is still within reach. Knowing him, it might motivate him to do better and improve himself.

"Hahaha! Now that would be something… Still, you taking care of your brother and keeping him out of trouble takes a load off of our shoulders. Your dad can focus on work, and I can focus on the little one here." Mom said while rubbing her belly.

"It's what I should do as the best daughter in the world!" I stated proudly with my chest out as I took a sip of tea.

[… Last night, an underground gas explosion caused numerous manhole covers to dangerously shoot up into the sky…]

"PFFTT *cough cough*" I was caught off guard by the news report and did a glorious spit take.

"Kirari!"

"Sorry mom! I just burned my tongue on the hot tea." I said while grabbing a paper towel to clean up my mess.

My attention, however, was on the TV.

[… Initial investigations showed that the explosion was due to a gas leak, however the cause has yet to be discovered. No injuries or casualties have been reported yet, and investigations are still underway…]

"Whew. Thank Dio no one was hurt." I unconsciously spoke.

"Dio?... Oh look. We live quite close to one of the affected areas. That's a little worrying…" Mom replied.

"Have you and dad considered moving to a safer and more secure neighborhood? Since my little sister is about to be born, I think we could use a house with more rooms. Maybe it could be closer to the company so that it will be easier to see dad. A bigger yard and garage could also help…" I suggested to ease her worries and distract her.

Unnecessary stress and worrying could have a negative effect on the baby…

"Hmm. You might be right Kirari. The last time we moved was when we had you. We moved all the way from Saitama prefecture to here in Musutafu. Maybe it's time to move again… I'll talk about it with your dad."

"Un!"

I refocused on the TV after confirming that mom was okay.

(Scene Break)

I spent most of the day hanging out with my mom.

When we weren't together, I patched up the holes in my trench coat and maintained all the gear I had left in my room.

When Nii-chan got home from school, I trained with him for a bit in the yard until dad got home from work and we had dinner together.

I made some inquiries about the company to distract my parents from being too lovey-dovey while eating.

That was my day, and now that it's nighttime, it's time to grind!

Even though I know I shouldn't go grinding without being fully equipped, I couldn't sit still because of the anticipation of what will happen once I reach max level 30.

Fischl was level 29 with more than half the exp bar full.

I had ordered Oz to go around and kill anything he could for exp throughout the day, but that barely increased the bar.

So, here I am, flying through the night sky on Oz's back, wearing my patched up trench coat, a hood to cover my hair, and a face mask in place of my missing pierrot mask.

Quite unstylish, but I've worn worse before. Like those sunglasses… Anyway, my getup isn't important. I just want to level up.

There was just one little problem…

"My Lady, your bloodthirst is leaking."

"I know, I know… But, how come there aren't any Villain activities going on?!" I whined impatiently.

For the past hour, Oz and I had flown through four different cities, yet we couldn't find a single hint of villainy going on. I even tapped into the police radio signals with Electroreception only to find nothing worth looking into.

"Perhaps the explosion from last night had spooked them into hiding?"

What Oz said made me ponder for a bit before I shook my head.

"No. Something small like that shouldn't have this big of an effect. Let's go down and find someone we can get info from."

It didn't take long for us to find a sketchy person from some back alley who gave us the information we wanted after a little bit of "persuasion". I was tempted to just take him out for the exp, but he didn't seem like an irredeemable bad guy full of evil karma, so I just let him go reluctantly.

From him, I found out that an underground turf war between two Yakuza gangs was happening tonight, and the Villains around the area have been recruited by one side to bolster their numbers.

I have no idea how such a war could go unnoticed by the police or the Hero Public Safety Commission.

But how can I miss an event that's practically screaming "EXP Grind here"!

Coincidentally, I am familiar with one of the gangs participating in the war.

It's the Abegawa Tenchu-Kai!

Maybe I can repay the favor much earlier than I expected.

"Let's go, Oz!"

We started flying towards Tokyo Bay where we heard the war was going to take place.

"The final Level 30 for my current set…"

Chapter End.

A/N:

Oooooh a fight chapter is coming up... Please give me some time to work on it...

In canon, Denki lived in Saitama prefecture, so I came up with a reason as to why they are in Musutafu now. Decided to avoid AU. I will try to stay loyal to the source material and any changes to canon will have to be directly or indirectly caused by MC. Or if I mess up somewhere... I will only supplement information that wasn't fully explained in canon like how Yaoyorozu got rich or how Mei became... Mei.

Timeline wise, the story right now should be around one year after All Might got injured fighting AFO and around the time the MC of MHA: Vigilantes (Koichi) meets Knuckleduster. This is four years before Deku meets All Might.

P.S.: I lost the 50/50 and got Jean instead of Arataki Itto… I cry. I need to scrounge up primogems to try and get him before banner ends.

Love his personality and his English dub is solid 10/10.
