Writing quality:4. There are mistakes, but nothing major.
Stability of updates:5. pretty frequent. can be attributed to the fact that the chapters are relatively short.
story development:2. the story is moving along but with the use of lots of time skips to get past things so you can't really say things have developed. Even the first mission in the new team 2 ended up as MC escort merchants -> gets attacked -> chase enemy off -> end.
character design:2. characters are feeling very bland. the cause could be the lack of description as author seems to assumes everyone read the manga or watched the anime (we probably did and that is why characters in this novel seems bland in my opinion). another cause could be how author is explaining everything with 3rd person narrations.
world background:2. suffers from same reason as character design. follows the Naruto plot but there is little description of everything because again, there is probably the assumption we read the manga/ saw the anime.
Chapters are very very short. the cause of this is the summarization of just about everything into a few paragraphs which then leads to poor character design and world background. To fix this, the author should realize that while many readers of fanfics have probably seen/read the anime/manga, the novel is a separate entity. Details (no matter how little or how much) are a must in order to paint a vivid scene for the reader's imagination. It would also serve to lengthen the short chapters a bit.
MC has reincarnated and wanted to change how things became yet all we have seen is the MC just training. In the recent chapters we have seen MC realize this and then lashes out when the family questions Itachi...and then nothing because MC just lies down and wonders how the future has changed. perhaps MC will actually do something in the chapters down the line, but as of the current status, its as if the author wants to change things but doesn't know how to go about it. MC is basically all talk and no action because author wants to change things but not deviate the storyline too far because he doesn't seem to know how to develop the world afterwards. This is the feeling i'm getting so far.
PLOT HOLES.
#1. THE BIGGEST ONE EVER. Danzo, leader of the root, places seals on all root members so that they cannot betray him. The author's belief that Ren can just up and leave when he is done is just the widest gaping hole there could ever be. Even if Ren wants to break the seal, author has not written about anything about seals and/or about Ren learning it. Given how weak the author wrote Ren to be, its hard to imagine him ever breaking free.
#2 Another plot hole. a seven swordsman of the mist attacks Ren and his team on their first mission. First of all, in the original manga/anime, the 3rd great shinobi war is already near its end by the time Itachi was around a couple years old. As a twin, Ren should also be of similar age at this time, not even in the academy yet so the fight between Ren and the original seven swordsman is impossible because they were dead in the middle of the war and heir weapons mostly lost. MC wants to change things but hasn't really done anything at all so therefore, time line events should still closely follow the lore of the manga/anime, making this fight virtually impossible logically.
#3. MC only knowing chidori is quite a big plot hole for a supposedly reincarnated person who has watched the entire series. watching the entire series, even if the village doesn't have jutsu, he could try to learn what he saw in the anime. even if he doesn't know the hand seals he can just develop them because he already has the direction from seeing it in the anime. Yet, all we have seen is MC learning only chidori in his entire life... even if it could be stretched out and made to work, what about other jutsu? shadow clone? or even the most basic clone taught to students? limited by chakra? why not try the 8 forbidden gates whose only requirement is taijutsu?<- might require learning from Might Gai or from scrolls which shouldn't be a problem seeing how he joined anbu and should have access to them.
If you can stomach the flaws, then you can probably enjoy this novel or it will at least be a good time waster while you wait for other novels to update. If you can't, you had best go elsewhere because you probably won't like this.
