Ray's Totally Unconsented Reincarnation As A Ghoul

Hello. I am… I don't remember my name. Not like it is important anymore right now.

So, anyway. A while prior. I was sitting on my bed, in my own apartment, playing my online game until suddenly an email interrupted me.

Inside the email was a survey of sorts titled 'CYOA Reincarnation Express', asking me to fill the form.

[1. Normal world or fantasy world?]

Feeling bored, I fill the survey without any second thoughts. I chose fantasy world because fuck normal world, it's boring as hell. At least the fantasy world will have the typical monster and stuff and adventurer.

[2. Remain human or non-human?]

Non-human for sure. Humans are overrated. Maybe I can be a vampire or maybe a devil that can use magic.

After choosing non-human, the next question changed.

[3. Humanoid or not humanoid?]

Uh… I still want to look like a human please. So, humanoid. I don't want to look like a monster.

[4. Please choose a species.]

Hmn… next is a list of species. I dunno man. I could only choose one and there's a lot to choose from.

The list consists of werewolf, vampires, zombies, devil, angel and so on.

Thankfully there are brief explanations on their pros and cons. After reading through all of them, I become hesitant to choose my three main choices which are vampire, devil and angel because of their weaknesses.

Stronger species have stronger disadvantages of course. While some weaker ones without disadvantages aren't a good choice.

My criteria is humanoid and human-like so I can blend in with society.

After sifting through the list once again, I found one.

[Ghoul]

-A cannibalistic race that possess superior physique, superior regeneration and create natural weapons, a special mutation found in ghoul.

-Disadvantage, can only ingest human flesh and body will deteriorate when forced to ingest normal food and didn't eat human flesh for prolonged periods.

This one is the best choice in my opinion. Basically a discounted vampire but has lesser disadvantages compared to actual vampire. Not to mention the natural weapons that look damn cool!

[5. Choose a starting perk.]

I'm kinda half convinced at this point that this is some kind of survey for a game development or novel program.

Let's see… Random Pet, Portable PIP, Safe House and Random Gift Pouch.

The Random Pet is as explained, an egg that can hatch into a random companion/battle pet.

Portable PIP is a personal information processor that is like an ingame menu type of thing and it's a small bead implant that will be implanted in my character's arm.

Safe House is a token that can allow my character to create a hidden safe house on the go and it's portable. It looks tempting if it has a usage limit.

And lastly.

Random Gift Pouch that when opened can give me a random thing that varied from a normal stick to a ICBM. Again, look tempting but I don't trust my luck much to gamble on this.

My choice is the Portable PIP, it can show my status, record places I went like a map, upload an actual map and many more. This is the most useful that can benefit me from start to end game.

Though, it's odd. Why would a game require a specific perk for a game menu?

Anyway, the last question.

I tempted to put Emperor of the Blazing Hellfire but alas, there are limit on how much letters. It only allow six letters? Stingy.

I never understood why does the games always limit how many letters I can put in my name. All my usual game name is more than six letters…

Well, I can only go with that the…

"Hahaha… funny." I laughed a bit and didn't think about it anymore as I went back to my game.

"Damn it, I missed the boss spawn by 3 minutes…" I look at the screen as the boss was missing. I camp it for few hours only for it to get stolen.

*Sigh*

*BEEP* *BEEP*

"Huh?" I heard the sound of honking truck. I swear it sounded very close which is impossible because my unit is on the 7th floor.

*CRASH*

An actual truck actually crashed through the wall and… crushed me to… death…

'I must be dreaming…'

"Huu wai what!" I jumped up from a nightmare of a truck crashing through the wall of my apartment on the 7th floor and killing me.

The fuck.

I checked my body in a panic and sighed with relief when nothing happened.

"Must have been really damn tired."

Well, I can't help it because I was grinding for an ongoing event for my game.

I abruptly noticed this isn't my room. I froze up and looked around the room.

Where's my figurines? My novels? My PC?!

"This isn't my room!" I panicked and jumped off my bed.

The current room is a one big room that shares a living room and a very basic kitchen.

When I walked closer to the kitchen, I found two doors. One obviously leads outside because a shoe rack is next to it and the other one when I opened it, it's a toilet and the shower.

It took me a moment before I remembered what this place looked like. It's like a single apartment from the anime I watched.

I walk closer to the mirror in the toilet and take a look at my own appearance.

My wrinkly face caused by constant exposure to direct sun while working as manual labor at construction and really, any job that I can get my hands on has disappeared. It was replaced with a young teenage face and body…

My hair is still the same black and my eyes are light brown as before. Everything else is the same except I have turned younger. I reckon it's around 16 years old.

Then I noticed a green orb embedded almost entirely into the back of my left palm. There is when everything becomes clear to me. The form that I filled… it's…

"Real"

I can feel my heart beating stronger in response to my excitement.

Reincarnation! I am free from that shitty world! I am free!

"Argh!" I yelped in surprise by a sharp pain from the back of my waist.

Four red appendage sprouts out my back and I could control them instinctively like my own limbs. I also noticed my eyes from the mirror. They turned black and the pupils were glowing red. Also, a few red roots extended around the eye socket which were blood vessels.

I was mesmerized for a while, staring at my own eyes. But I was interrupted by the green bead on my left palm which was blinking faintly.

I tap it which causes the bead to project a holographic screen showing my body and several gauges at the side showing my HP, stamina, RC cell? And Hunger that is blinking.

The colors of the gauge are respectively green, blue, red and yellow.

Then there are also descriptions about my ability.

[Ghoul physiology - Type Rinkaku]

-Ghoul Physique

-Hyper Regeneration

-Rinkaku Kagune

Apparently, ghoul with this Rinkaku Kagune has better regeneration than other types which I don't know yet.

I was panicking about the fact I am hungry. I remember my choice and I cannot eat normal food. I can only eat humans and that fact terrified me.

The excitement quickly fades away as I am in denial while walking over to the fridge in hope there is something I can eat.

Upon opening the fridge, there isn't any food. Instead, there are suspicious wrapped things which I could already guess.

The former owner of this body I Incarnated into is a ghoul and the only food it would store in there should be… 'meat' around somewhere, right?.

I took the wrapped thing and opened it. As I had guessed. It's meat. A mystery meat that I don't know where it's from but just smelling it made me salivate uncontrollably. I can feel my body begging me to consume the meat but I chickened out and threw the thing back into the fridge and rolled back under the sheet.

I distract myself with the Portable PIP and check the other menus other than my personal information.

Other than my character menu, I found two more which are Quest Log and Map.

Opening the map shows a blank screen except for a tiny green dot labeled 'Home'. Tapping the dot shows the inside of the apartment.

Everything happened so fast that my head was overloaded…

"This must be a lucid dream." I mumbled and covered myself with a blanket to sleep. Hoping that when I wake up, everything will go back to normal.

Uh… I kinda write this because I'm not in the mood to write the next chapter for the Rebellion of His Creation. So, I write this instead.

Also my bad luck. On the first day of Eid al-Fitr I have a massive headache but still have to cook for the feast.
