As Far as I Can See
A blind kid shoulders the heavy responsibility of taking care of himself. Money, lodging, food, all the daily necessities of a human being are provided by him and him alone. He has never seen his parents or anyone of his family, quite literally, though they have also disappeared one day when he was little. He now owns a room in a inn and has a stable job which earns him sufficient money.
However, he still hopes that his parents come back one day, not to help him, but only to be able to tell them that he is fine without them. That he doesn't blame them for leaving him, a little blind kid, alone in this harsh world, he has managed to survive and will keep on living this way.
Khan, gone outside of his small village to scavenge some herbs for his neighbor, stumbled upon a small statue as he escaped from a beast. The statue offered him a wish of his to be granted for having found itself, Khan politely asks: "I wish to be able to see as far as I possibly can".
This is the story of how a blind kid managed to become the most feared being in the universe.
