"Comeback Golem." The Pokeball retrieved Golem with a white ray of light, it was back in the hands of Flint.

"Golem has been called back by the title defender Gym leader Flint, hence according to the rules, this round had been forfeited. The winner of this round and the battle is Ethan Hunt from Palette town!" Forrest announced my victory, I won but calling Golem back before it fainted left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I called Ivy back to her Pokeball and passed the Pokeball to Chancey for taking care of any serious injury she had during the match. Walking down the podium I was now face to face with Flint.

"Good match," he said, while rummaging around a box of badges, that's a disrespectful way to keep a badge. "Here is the A-rank badge of Pewter city." He placed the badge in my palm while scratching the back of his head.

"Why did you call your Golem back, even if he was under sleeping powder he could have dealt more damage after its effects wore off?" he stood silent for 3 seconds, enough to make it serious and awkward between us.

My son dreams of being a Pokemon breeder, so I spent my time in his area of interest. That Ivysaur and Totodile cannot be older than half a year and they were tough, tough enough that if my Rhydin fought with his life on the line, the battle would have reached a draw, which is a major win if the opponent fights like a cornered hondoom. And I trust my fellow gym leaders if it is not meant to be, you just won't collect 4 A-rank badges, but there is a reason Pewter city is called "soft Rock gym", I had to live it up to the name"

That's a disappointing excuse, but still, it worked out for me, nobody is gonna ask if I won easily or with hard luck, in the end, it matters if I won.

"If you actually fought me a match seriously, how would my Pokemon have fared in that match?" I asked, I had to gauge what the gym leaders measured up to against me presently.

"Hmm.. that's actually a difficult question. Tell you what, I will answer that the next time we meet."Patting my back many times, he left with his kid, wait I am still a kid. So he left with Forrest, which sounds appropriate.

I check out the new Boulder badge in my hands, true to its rank, it was marked with the letter A in the back.

"Chancey let's meet up with nurse Joy at the Pokemon center before going forward to our next destination." We exited the gym while Chancey was holding my two balls, POKEBALLS. Dammit, me and my dirty mind.

"Monthly reports ?" Asked the man with a shadowed-out face while sitting in the center of the room.

"Y-Yes sir! First, from the Celadon city base, nothing is out of the ordinary, the monthly quotas are being fulfilled while in Viridian city, there was a somewhat huge event where two of our own made a bit of a public show in your absence but it was taken care of but the matter of interest was a huge transaction by some trainer in Pewter city, which included a sum of 400 million Pokedollars for info about the Wartodle breeding area you asked but was taken care by the league, it will be taken care of by this week and lastly, some disturbances in weather and sightings of a huge Dragonite along the coast of Cerulean city lighthouse." The girl spoke in one full breath, non-stop.

"hmm See to it that the Wartodle place is found as the league sealed the info too quickly even for a royal Pokemon. Also, trace the path of the Dragonite, if it moves along the path of the Kanto-Johto area, it would be a great addition to the team, contact Lt. Surge for this task, and he will see to it." The female answered the report, as the boss looked over the proceedings taking place.

""Yes ma'am!"" Greeting their seniors, they eave, and the Boss continued to caress his Persian in peace.

I reached the Pokemon center in peace, Chancey had already informed me that there were no serious-serious injuries to Ivy and Totodile, but I still insisted they go through a regular and thorough check-up, including Chancey who insisted that she won't take it while being checked by an inferior Chancey, damn.

This was true as my Chancey had probably years of experience while this one was just sent here to help at this Pokemon center.

Anyways, while they were at it I contacted my home, my uncle was out of town for some work-related matters, but Aunt was happy when I told her about my well-being and my victory at the gym.

I told her about my Pokemon, Ivy, Totodile, and Chancey, she was happy that I had won the gym battle and after a 15-minute conversation about news at home and town, we said our goodbyes.

Then I contacted professor Oak, who was surprised that I was still at Pewter city, bragging about his grandson's 49 Pokemons and the size of his crabby. Size doesn't matters, its the technique

of their move is what matters in a battle, but then I proceeded to show him my A-rand badge which at last, made him swallow his words of victories Gary had accumulated.

He was surprised as A-rank gym battles were tough ad most trainers only went for it at the end of their journey, just before the Indigo league starts.

He was not surprised about my Totodile though, said something about how the handler of a particular Pokemon trainer knows about their Pokemon, and the league is also told about them on a regular basis.

That was an invasion of privacy.

He then asked about my next stop on my journey, which was something I also wanted to ask myself. According to canon, I have a month before nash reaches Granpa canyon to free the Aerodactyl, I could defeat the Cerulean sisters in a B-rank match, but in an A-rank battle, I need time to teach Ivysaur some moves and make Totodile evolve. It's a lucky encounter that the first gym I chose was rock type, being weak to both grass and water type Pokemon otherwise it would have been difficult to impossible to secure a win.

I could go on a month-long training spree, then after getting a new addition to my team come back and go on a gym battle spree.

That actually sounds pretty good.

Also with Aerodactyl, I would have three Pokemon teams ready for the rookie tournament which is 2 months later, gym battles can be won later.

Gym battles are actually well paying for someone poor. For the A-rank match I had just won, the league paid me a sum of 100,000 Pokedollars, which is actually a lot but not for me.

B-rank gym battles pay you a measly sum of 6000, which is again a lot when you are a free-to-play trainer, but I spend money on every little thing so I need an equally supporting income. I should look into some Pokemon to sell or something.
