Calling in a doctor

Pixel was brought in front of Rufus who explained the current findings of the investigation and was awaiting her response.

Pixel put her hand on her chin thoughtfully and frowned. "Both of them could be the culprit right now and there is no major proof besides the silver needles. One person could be lying while pushing the blame onto another while the other could be behind it as they have been blamed since their circumstances have made her more suspicious."

Rufus nodded then asked. "How would you determine which of them who was really behind it?"

Pixel revealed a very serious expression as she recalled her previous life's memories, back in her old world there were times when she encountered the Jenny family or others from the police organisations.

Each of them were usually investigating human or Pokémon related crimes or following up on some report so Pixel would watch them from far away when they appeared in the wild areas or when she stopped by a city.

She tried to recall some of the things she heard from them and spoke. "We need a clearer picture of both of them. Of course the silver needle is an important piece of the puzzle so that needs to be investigated but we need to know much more to determine if they were capable of committing such a crime."

She did not know the motivation of each of the suspects that well so she could not make a hasty decision based on one small piece of evidence. "Try to find out where the silver pins or the replica could have been made then we can send someone to look into who bought it. As for the two of them, question anyone that has worked long enough that knew them both well.

Make sure to question if they had met with anyone recently or have been called to work outside of their duties for anyone. We need to know the relationship between the two suspects but also know each of their roles are in this then we can start looking into the rest."

Rufus nodded. "You could be right in that but what about the poison?"

Pixel answered calmly. "It could have been brought in by someone or may have already been in someones possession so it is difficult to track. The only way to do so is if it is a particular type of poison that can only be sold in certain places or is more characteristically used by certain people.

I have some knowledge of herbs from my studies so I know a little about poisons but there must be someone who can identify what has been mixed into the ingredients. Oh, I just thought of another thing! Ask about who had approved of or had recommended their entry into the family and who had been involved in any way in their promotions."

Pixel did not wish to determine which person was guilty right away or show any kind of bias based on what she knew from the current investigation.

The investigation was still ongoing and not all of the facts had been laid out yet so the real culprit was not yet identified.

All that had been determined was that two people who knew each other well and joined the family at the same time had been the two main culprits.

One was questioned first and had tried to clear her own name by giving up anything that she could while there was a brief explanation about the silver needles and the betrayal she had suffered.

The other was someone who fit the narrative as someone who could commit the crime and try to frame the person who helped and was kind to them just so they could get some benefits to improve their own living situation but displayed confusion and shock over being determined as a suspect while being unable to think clearly about how to clear their own name.

Many would make their own conclusion based on what they saw but the Jenny family of her own world were patient and liked to investigate much deeper into cases to find out every detail that could better identify who was guilty and who was innocent.

Anyone could lie and come up with a valid excuse to prove their innocence but those lies would soon unfold once certain pieces of evidence or facts had been shown to be different from what they had said.

One appeared clueless, panicked and unable to provide themselves any answers to the questions given while the other was appearing upset, betrayed and had provided some assistance to the investigation but neither was proven innocent or guilty until more was known about them both.

Rufus showed a slight smile. "We are already looking into the ingredients but it will take some time to bring in someone more skilled to identify them. Ahem.. the doctor will be visiting at my request."

Pixel's eyes lit up suddenly. "You mean.."

Rufus nodded. "Yes, Dr Miyagi. He will be visiting our family soon after I had made a request."

Rufus had contacted Baan for a little extra help after knowing that there had been poison within his own home so he could not let it go so easily and needed outside assistance.

Usually he would remain proud and try to deal with it himself but it had been a long time since poison plots had been discovered on Zou.

Many Minks looked down on using underhanded tactics and it was especially so for the nobility who valued their pride and reputation above all else.

Assassination and other things could be used in family struggles for power which was not so frowned upon since they were determined by each of the raw power of the Minks and by their own strategies but poison was always something that was heavily hated among those within Zou.

It often reminded them of those outside of Zou that often had to resort to underhanded tricks in order to overcome the Minks who had more power than them.

There were not many families in Zou which were known for using poisons and if they were, their standing in Zou was very low due to the other Minks pushing them out of the political scene.

Nobody wanted to know the people that could be behind something being slipped into their meals and would rather see them being pushed much further away so they could not cause problems anywhere near them.

There had been no discoveries of poison plots in recent years but that was partly due to the noble families trying to cover up suspicious deaths and being unwilling to investigate deeper due to their own political or personal reasons.

Dr Miyagi was a well known doctor on Zou and was very respected so it was not so easy to call for him unless it was something of great importance.

He was usually dealing with bigger problems on Zou or was assisting the three dukes but Rufus had requested one of them to get his help.

If there was anyone with enough knowledge on medicine and herbs then it would be Dr Miyagi and nobody was as trusted and respected as him.

Pixel revealed a look of respect and smiled. "I have seen him a couple of times and have heard rumours about him when I was in the guardians but I never actually got to see him in action. If the rumours are true then this should be solved right away."

Just after they had finished their talk, many servants of the family were called in for a private talk and were asked many questions about many different things involving the two suspects, their relationships, their family lives, their promotions and who they met with recently.
