Chapter 9

Instead of bringing my phone to talk to Evans, I leave it on the table. There is no way I am going to shade tears in front of people I barely know. After calming down I go back to my friends... I do not what relationship I share with them.

Ana, as she says I call her with her friend Zeek have ordered salads. I try paying for my meal but Mena rejects and pays for everything. As we are walking out of the restaurant, my phone rings. The caller ID reads DO NOT ANSWER.

"Better answer that. Whoever it is has been calling nonstop until Benjamin had to give him a talk," Ana speaks up. Benjamin answered the call! Evans must be so infuriated right but I do not care. He is no position to get angry we broke up long ago when he decided to secretly have a relationship with Chloe. I decline the call and promise myself to answer next time as soon as I'm out of earshot. Mena does not seem phased by the look I give him and instead sits his goody self in the car. I do not have the time to argue with him. Ana, Zeek and Jace go in their own car and so do we.

It is still 7:30 pm when Mena pulls over at the school parking lot. We were early enough before curfew. My phone rings again immediately we get out of the Ferrari. I wonder what rubbish he wants to tell me this time. Fine and Mena walk ahead of me probably to give me time to answer the call.

"Babe?" an anxious voice speaks from the other side.

"No, you have no right to call me that." I reply plainly.

"Oh! Is it because I left you now your jumping onto some random guy?"  Is he serious? His accusations stops me in my tracks. How could I not have noticed this side of Evans? You may think you know someone yet you really don't.

"You have some nerves Becky, I had important news to tell you but you were too busy fucking that boy." He continues. Wow. I laugh at his accusations.

"What is so funny Becky?" he asks.

"I get it Evans. Because you couldn't sleep with so you decided to sleep with Chloe," I note.

"No no no that's why I called you. I don't love her I only love you...."

"Stop it Evans! I was not born yesterday you know." I inform my ex boyfriend.

"You're not the Becky I fell in love with," his voice disappointed. He is acting like the victim here yet he is a devil in sheep's cloth. A couple of days ago Chloe confessed that he thought I were an obligation and he has the audacity to make me feel bad about it.

"You are not innocent here Evans. Don't make me feel like the bad person here because I'm not. You destroyed us when you slept with her while with me." I say trying hard so that my voice does not break.

"I only slept with her twice, thrice I don't remember but that's the past Babe I promise." He defends himself.

"I do not care just don't ever call me again ever." I affirm my statement and hung up.

I can not believe I dated a person like Evans. Love can be deceiving. Tears form on my eyes but I try hard not to make them spill down my cheeks. Mena stops me before I make a turn in the corridor.

"Your ex is annoying as fuck," he simply states. I laugh lightly nodding my head in response.

"How do you know that he's my ex?" I ask. I know he answered my call earlier and I still wonder what they argued about. It is obvious Mena did not keep their call simple.

"You saved the number as DO NOT ANSWER and he was annoying so he had to be an ex," he states the obvious.

"And who gave you permission to answer my phone?" I ask again.

"Let's just say your ringtone is annoying,"  I give him a weak smile.

"Get some rest. You look tired." He points out.

"Goodnight Becky,"

"Goodnight, Mena." he laughs.

"You're not calling me that in public right?"

"Why not?"

"First of all it's not my name and second of all it's not my name." This time I smile brightly.

"Okay Benjamin in public?"

"Yes." We agree.

Talking to him has brightened up my mood. He has instantly managed to change my dull mood in to a bright one.

Fine is changing into her pajamas by the time I open the door.

"You okay?" Concern in her voice as she asked.

"I'm okay," I assure her. She sits on her bed eyeing me as I take off my dress then ask her for her assistance to undo my bra. She does so.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

No, not now." I reply.

"Wow Becky!" Fine exclaims.

"What's wrong?" I ask throwing my night gown on my body. I am not used of people seeing me naked or barely naked.

"You have lovely cleavage."

"Thank you," I say while laying on my bed.

"Yeah girl you just need the right person to keep them busy. Oh like Benjamin!"

"No way Fine,"

"Wait do you mean like no wayyyyyy, fine or no way fineeeeeeeee." She excitedly yells.

"None of the above," I say trying to not break in to laughter.

"Okay. But if you....."

"No."

"Alright do you wanna watch a movie? Don't worry I'm not gay." We laugh at her statement.

"Okay," we browse through Netflix. We pick out The Perfect Date and a few others till our eyes give out.
