Chapter 10

DAMIEN POV:

I was currently driving to the hospital with Olive. I could tell that she was upset about the whole Enzo fiasco. I put my hand on hers and squeezed it. "Do you want to call Dad to see how he is?"

"What would I say?" she asked.

I pulled out my phone and clicked on Dads icon and put the phone on speaker. "Hello Damien."

"Hey Dad. Any news on Enzo?"

I looked over at Olive and saw that she looked eager to hear what he had to say. "The bullet was laced with some sort of sedative or something. We're trying to figure out what it is now. It's not looking too good, it'd be a miracle if he makes it. Is Olive okay? Are you on your way?"

Well that plan went to shit. "Yes we are on our way. See you soon."

With that I looked over to Olive to see her with tears forming in her eyes. You can tell that she puts up a wall to cover emotions, but why? I couldn't understand why she would feel the need to. All I could see was that she was terrified, and I don't think it's from just today. I pulled the car over to my favorite fast food restaurant; Chipotle.

I unbuckled then walked over to Olives side. She very emotional right now and I'm not quite sure why. I unbuckled her seatbelt and took her out of the car, she was very light. And keep in mind she is about 5'8 she shouldn't weigh this little. I take her place in the passenger seat with Olive on my lap. "It's my fault. It's my fault. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I'm sorry." she kept murmuring.

I raised my hand to brush the hair out of her face when she flinched. It was little, but not unnoticeable. "Baby, it's not your fault. Shhh. We'll figure it out, we always do."

She just continued to cry. I hated seeing her like this and I'm sure this was a side of her she didn't want me to see. She was starting to calm down and leant her head against my chest. "Y-you a-aren't even gonna a-sk?" she asks looking down. I grab her chin softly and look her in the eyes. I can only see one thing floating in her eyes, pain.

"Princess, I can tell that you've been through some shit before. I'm not going to pressure you into something you can't think about without crying. I don't care about anything other than the fact that you're with me right now. But whenever you feel sad you come to me. I'll always be here for you." I said.

OLIVE POV:

As soon as I heard Dominic say that the bullet was poisoned I freaked. My foster mom was shot the same way Enzo was. The only difference was that my foster dad Harper immediately put the blame on me. I was sitting in the car with Damien when the flashbacks that I had been trying to keep away suddenly flooded back.

--FLASHBACK-- 3 Years ago

I was sitting beside my foster mom Blaire who was bringing me home from school because I was feeling sick. The nurse wouldn't let me leave without a parent, so Blair had to pick me up.

"Why did you do that you whore?"

"D-do w-what Blair?"

We stopped at a red light when she turned to me. "What did you just call me?"

"I'm s-sorry ma'am."

She slapped me across the face and continued driving. We hopped out of the car when I heard a gunshot. Blair fell straight to the ground with blood pouring out of her stomach.

Harper came stumbling out of the house and saw Blair. "WHAT DID YOU DO WHORE?"

The neighbor across the street saw us and called the police. 15 minutes later an ambulance came and picked her up. Leaving me and Harper. "BASEMENT. NOW."

I knew what that meant. Another beating. I ran towards the basement and sat on the cold concrete ground.

I heard his footsteps coming down the stairs and stop in front of me. He grabbed me and tied my arms to the poles on the ceiling. He tied my feet apart to the poles in the corners. He punched me in the stomach and said, "I'm not in the mood for playtime right now."

I let out a relieved sigh. "But I know some people who might. Come on down boys!"

Four guys walked down the stairs with beer bottles in their hand.

"50 bucks per person."

They each handed Harper a fifty dollar bill and looked at me. "Do what you please. Don't make too much noise." Harper said then left.

One of the officers had collected tears and started shaking. They immediately dropped the bottles and came to untie me. "Hey sweetie, I'm Davonte McCoy with the local police department."

-FLASHBACK OVER-

All the sudden I was on Damien's lap with him consoling me. My mind kept shouting at me to push his arms away but my body was ignoring my minds commands.

"You hungry?" He asked me.

I shook my head and clutched his shirt like a child. "Come on little one, let's get to the hospital."

I unclenched my white fist and put my seatbelt back on. We sat in a comfy silence and arrived at the hospital. I took my seatbelt off and walked to the door of the hospital. We walked upstairs to Enzo's room where the rest of the family was. "Is he okay? Can I help in anyway? Are you guys hungry? I can go get food! What would you guys l-" I rambled.

"It's alright Olive. He is going to be fine. He's in surgery right now." Antonio cut me off with a stoic expression and voice.

I sighed in relief and went to sit down.

"Have you been crying?" Roman asked in a harsh tone.

"Enough Roman. Follow me Olive." Dad scolded.

I stood up and followed him out the room. "Princess what happened?"

"I'm fine." I shrugged.

"You're obviously not fine if you've been crying, baby."

I shrugged and said, "Pms"

I walked back into the room with a smirk as Dad was walking in behind me holding back a chuckle.

"Mr. and Mrs. De Luca?" A doctor asked behind us all. The boys and Dad immediately put a stone cold front up and fixed their loose poster to look like a fucking Navy Seal. Dad then turned to the Doctor who now was shaking, "H-He is ready for v-visitors. H-e is waking up. Please follow me." he stuttered.

Mom and Dad walked first with Sean with me walking in between the boys.
