Chapter 27

He had to spend a few days after his assimilation regaining his previous levels of chakra control after which he had spent the rest of the time training in the usage of the Kurama clan's Genjutsu mostly under the guidance of Yakumo and Keiichi. This was probably his greatest gains in the last three months as even as now as he headed towards the shinobi headquarters building, he couldn't wait to test out his current capabilities against other shinobi.

The two entered the building and met the receptionist who handed them a booklet containing all the available missions with each of the mission marked either with 'In progress', 'Cancelled' or 'Currently available.'

Keiichi scanned the mission list carefully and soon selected a mission which the receptionist marked down in their names after which he wished the both of them good luck as they departed the building. As soon as they left the building, the receptionist took the documents containing Yuu's mission and walked towards a room hidden in the back of the building. After ensuring that no one was around, he entered the room where he was met with a ninja wearing a mask of a rabbit.

"The target has accepted an outside mission. Here are the details" said the receptionist after which he handed the document to the rabbit-masked ninja. The ninja quickly sealed the documents and left the room through another hidden pathway connected to the room. Afterwards the receptionist too left the room and returned to his previous position where he continued his day's work like nothing had happened.

In the land of fire within a vast stretch of trees that were connected as far as the eye could see, two shinobi could be seen bounding silently across the branches of each tree. One was Keiichi Kurama dressed in the standard jonin attire of a green jacket armour with the hidden leaf's headband worn on his head while the other was a 12-year-old child dressed in an ordinary black shirt and shorts on whose waist were shinobi combat pouches and scrolls containing his weapons, survival food and water among other things.

"So, what's our mission?" asked Yuu as soon as they were at a far-off distance from Konoha.

"We will be infiltrating the Land of Waterfalls where some of the leading nobles have been suspected to be colluding with the Hidden Stone Village despite their signed treaty and alliance with the Hidden Leaf Village. We are to find these nobles and if there is enough evidence, eliminate them and return back to the Hidden Leaf village." Instructed Keiichi to which Yuu nodded understanding his task.

They accelerated their running speed until finally three and a half days later, they arrived at Asaki, the capital of the land of Waterfalls where most of the nobles resided. Yuu and Keiichi sneaked into the city by calmly walking through the front gate, their chakra levels suppressed and concealed by their Genjutsu skills, and their appearance changed using the transformation Jutsu making them look like two ordinary strangers. They quickly found an inn located near one of the city's exits and after booking a single shared room which they would share, they discussed their plans and division of work after which they rested. Normally a jonin in such a mission would only allow a genin to tag along to gain experience which meant that they wouldn't get to do much due to how weak they were however Yuu was a genin who already possessed the combat power of a low jonin at the lowest which meant that Keiichi didn't have to waste his energy babysitting him which worked out well for Yuu.

The next week and a half was spent observing the movements of every noble in the city, determining things such as their daily schedule, enemies, friends e.t.c. The entire time Keiichi and Yuu were split up each observing their respective target of the day while under disguise hence they were not discovered even by the ninjas that guarded the nobles.

On this particular night, Yuu could be seen monitoring a noble in his home from a distance when he suddenly noticed this particular noble open a secret hidden passage in his bedroom and enter it after which the entrance closed but not before Yuu quickly launched a chakra tracking tag concealed with his Genjutsu which attached itself to the noble's back going unnoticed by him. Using this tag, Yuu was able to track the noble's movements underground, closely following his movements until finally he managed to spot the same noble emerge from a door than appeared on a large round rock within the forest outside the village. The noble, however, was now accompanied by four ninja wearing headbands with the symbol of the city on their foreheads. Judging by their chakra, Yuu was shocked to see that they were all Jonin. One was a high level jonin while the rest were low level jonin.

Yuu continued to follow them, his every move concealed by his Genjutsu making him completely invisible to the outside world. It was a move he had learned from Yakumo and only a person with a genjutsu prowess similar or higher than his would be able to detect him.

After half an hour of constantly tailing the noble, Yuu saw them all finally come to a stop under a small clearing surrounded by trees. One of the low level Jonin shinobi beside the noble then spread out his chakra field which remained open for a few seconds before finally retreating back into his body. Through this action Yuu could tell that this shinobi was the sensor of the group who judging by how large his chakra sensing field was, was actually pretty good for a low level jonin though he still didn't compare with Yuu who had sensory skills obtained from multiple shinobi.

The sensor ninja then whispered towards the rest of the group after which another shinobi took out a small flute and blew on it however to Yuu's surprise no sound actually came out of the flute. Yuu however didn't let his guard down as just because he didn't hear something didn't mean it didn't exist just like how one doesn't hear the flowing of time, yet it still exists. 'The flute probably produces a sound not hearable by human beings' thought Yuu and he was right as soon a large group of ordinary-looking people arrived being led a creature that looked like a large mole-rat the size of a large pig.
