"Hahh...Hah," Hiroshi panted from exertion as he finished his last set of pushups for his morning routine. He was training alone as usual and after going through the mind-numbing routine of physical conditioning, his thoughts immediately flashed and a blue screen flashed in front of him.

Hiroshi adjusted his forehead protector once again, he habitually tightened the straps as he sat down on the ground and started to meditate, though his thoughts kept bouncing on his stats and the countdown timer that was minutes away from finally ticking away.

Mark Baker was once a weeb, an avid fan of both the manga and series, though that did not prepare him for one-day gaining consciousness in the body of a small child and feeling something crawling under his skin, it was a dark period, Hiroshi doesn't remember everything clearly but it didn't end very well.

Well, it kind of did, he accepted his new identity as Hiroshi instead of Mark Baker. It was a turn for the better, although Hiroshi knew that in the shinobi world, those without the bloodlines or secret-family techniques were inherently at a disadvantage, and no matter how cool the show and manga tried to make the Aburame clan out to be, there was no way Hiroshi would allow a bunch of insects to live in his body. The Ninja world was vast and he also had the system to help him dominate the world.

At least those were his initial thoughts, now as a member of Konoha Genin Reserves and a failed product of the academy, Hiroshi's career path wasn't exactly smooth sailing. Plus his so-called system turned out to be a little dud.

'Still better than having worms crawling through me...'

Hiroshi smiled bitterly as he looked at the timer trickle through the last seconds, this was his last hope to avoid mediocrity in this lifetime.

There was too much information on the once compact status screen which took Hiroshi a few minutes to take it all in. He set aside the simulation part of the panel and focused on everything else, all the once hashed-out spaces were now filled with information about his current strength and several new more comprehensive stats appeared.

In the Physical and Mental stats now he had several stats which he could enhance with Simulation Points like Balance, Coordination, Spatial Awareness, Vision, etc...

'Why the fuck though did I have to wait soo long for this though...' Hiroshi was a little annoyed. If he had full access to the system before then maybe he wouldn't be in the reserves.

~Sigh~

He took a few deep breaths to calm down and then focused his attention on the clickable button on his status panel. He thought about pressing the button and the panel disappeared.

Hiroshi thought but there was no response from the system, it was silent like always making him wonder if he had a brain tumour or something causing all these hallucinations.

Naturally, upon not receiving an answer, Hiroshi opted for a wait-and-see approach as he clicked 'Yes' this time using his finger to try and click the button. Feeling himself physically click on the button was another weird experience as the screen vanished and a log-like panel appeared which quickly started filling with words narrating an interesting tale.

[Day 3: You leave Konoha and started travelling with a squad of 4 under a chunin for a border patrol mission to the outpost in the Kōchiyo Village.]

[Day 7: After 4 days of travel you arrive at Kōchiyo Village and report to the stationed Chunin. As your Chunin squad leader deals with the handover procedures you patrol around the area trying to familiarize yourself with the environment.]

[Day 21: A small incident happens in the gambling den, you quickly arrive to settle the disputes but were severely injured by a stray fire Jutsu when the accused jonin tried to flee.]

[Day 28: Due to your severe injuries your team hurried back to Konoha as your mission prematurely ends. You were admitted into the Konoha Hospital but quickly your background was revealed and under the pressure from the Aburame clan you only got some basic treatment before you were quickly released from the Hospital.]

[Day 30: Your injuries worsen and you were relieved from your duties and privileges as a genin. You try to complain but your requests were transferred to the civilian council and were ignored.]

[Day 123: You spent the last 3 months diligently practising your chakra control, but unluckily your condition keeps worsening]

[Day 125: You died due to your injuries and your death was swiftly covered up by the Aburame Clan.]

'wow... this is so much better than just simulating the growth of a ninjutsu, although the randomness of traits drawn is a little annoying, let's see...'

Hiroshi debated as he stared at the three options and finally selected [Skills increased during the Simulation].

"Ugh~" A splitting pain erupted from his temples as some new information and experiences related to tree walking and water walking appeared in his mind. Hiroshi immediately tried to draw some chakra from the tenketsu located at the centre of his right palm and stared as his chakra felt visibly easier to control.

Well visibly not because he had a doujutsu but because he could see the two skills now maxed out in his skill panel.
