Chapter 1Prologue.

'December twenty first, twenty eighteen. Dear diary. It was a cold and dreary morning, I woke up on the same bed I wake up everyday with pain on the most part of my body. I have little to no recollection of what happened last night but seeing my appearance, it must be because of him. I have always put up with his abuse but for some reason, I was ready to put it to a stop.'

...

"Are you sure about this Miss Andrea? You have been with him for 5 years. Surely, you can forgive him." A dark blue haired man wearing formal corporate attire asked with desperation as he looked at the woman pacing back and forth, grabbing her clothes out of the closet and shoving the pile of clothes on her arms on the small suitcase on the bed with a emotionless look on her face.

Upon hearing the man's remarks, Andrea heaved a deep sigh before answering the man who was imploring the woman to change her mind.

"Secretary Jun, that's the point. I have been with him for 5 whole years now but he still treats me like a contracted wife on display rather than a normal human being. You of all people would know how much I love and yearn for his affection… and now I'm done," Andrea responded in her usual calm tone as she closed the zipper of her suitcase.

Andrea grabbed the handle of the case and lifted it in air as she slowly placed it down on the ground. She then began to slowly drag the suitcase still maintaining her composed demeanor as she walked toward the front door of the penthouse.

On the other hand, the nervous secretary followed Andrea with a panicked look visible on his face. Before Andrea could even open the door, the same secretary blocked her way with his arms raised on each side.

"Andrea! Please don't do this. I'll apologize in his stead so don't leave him." The secretary begged, showing a concerned expression on his face. He was really determined to change the other party's mind. It was an admirable thing to see. But Andrea was feeling too tired to drag this conversation and argue.

Andrea raised her line of sight, staring right into the eyes of the man before her before responding, "Jun, I'm tired…far too tired to forgive him again. Please, as a friend… don't stop me."

Hearing the emotionless tone from her response and the dead look on her eyes, the secretary froze. Maybe it's because he knew that he had no right to stop her or maybe it was just because she looked pitiful.

With that being said, the blue haired man slowly dropped his arms with a shamefaced expression. The man could only look away from the woman's dull gaze. Seeing that the secretary has nothing more to say, Andrea excused herself as she made her way out of the door and steadily walked towards the elevator, leaving the stiff and speechless secretary on the doorway with an unsettled expression on his face.

As Andrea stepped outside of the tall establishment, she was then greeted by buzzing strangers and car engine noises. But Andrea did not mind it for she was used to it. On the contrary, for some reason Andrea finds it like their motions become slower and slower.

Andrea slowly grabbed the phone on the side pocket of her khaki brown coat and called her first speed dial. As the other line only responded with a recorded autoresponse, Andrea decided to leave a message.

"Theo, I finally did it… I'm gonna run away from here. I should have listened to you a long time ago,"

Andrea said in a soft and downhearted tone of voice as she lowered her line of sight as she continued, trying not to get emotional, "I will get in touch with you once I will find a place far away to settle. But for now, I have to get myself together. Don't worry though, I will be fine. Goodluck with your business trip."

After saying her goodbye, Andrea ended the call and shoved the phone back to its place. She then raised her head as she gazed on the scene before her.

"Now, where do I go from here?"

Andrea asked in a whispering tone as he slowly raised her head up in the gray gloomy weather. It looked like even the somber weather was taking pity on her as it corresponded with her bottled up emotions that are going to burst any second now. Andrea closed her eyes as the cold gust of wind brushed against her pale face. The woman can only close her eyes as a tear trickled down her cheek. Despite the bustling noises of busy people walking past her and looking at her like she was a crazy person, Andrea remained on her spot as she took a deep breath of relief.

Andrea turned her head to the side and immediately noticed a vacant taxi in the distance. She then raised her arms. As the car stopped in front of her, Andrea shortly went inside after setting her luggage at the trunk.

"Where to, miss?"

Upon hearing that question, Andrea looked at the old driver through the front mirror with a bittersweet smile plastered on her face as she responded nonchalantly.

"To the sea,"

When the certain darkness threatens to take Oriana away, will the Dragon be able to protect his mate? ----- Excerpt- “If I knew you were my betrothed, I would have killed you the very first moment we met." Arlan's gaze darkened with hatred. “If I knew I was betrothed to you, I would have killed myself before you even killed me!” Oriana mirrored the same emotions as him. He pulled out a dagger and offered it to her. “It’s not too late. Just slit your throat with this and you'll bleed out painlessly.” She accepted the knife, her fingers clutching its handle tightly. The next moment, he was pressed against the wall and the knife was on the right side of his neck. “How about I try it on you first, my betrothed?” “Feel free to try. But when you fail, this knife will first taste your grandpa's blood, then yours.” Anger rose in her eyes, and the next moment, blood was flowing through the right side of his neck. She cut deep enough to severe an important blood vessel. “You should not have challenged me,” she sneered and stepped back, waiting for him to collapse. He simply smirked and brushed his finger along the deep wound on his neck. “Seems like you failed.” She watched the wound on his neck heal on its own and felt shocked to her bones. “You.. what are you?” “Guess?” ----- Instagram- mynovel.20 Facebook- Author mynoveltwenty
