My Life As Naruto Uzumaki - Harem Version

Chapter 01: Reborn as Naruto Uzumaki

[MC POV]

So, here I am, running for my life with what's left of my team after failing that thrice-damned mission; hoping that the emergency evac we requested goes through with minimum issues, and wanting nothing more than to just take a good long nap for my troubles.

My team and I make it to the rendezvous point just in the nick of time and throw ourselves into the open bay of the plane before the aircrew hightail it out of there like a bat out of hell. Then, not 15 minutes later, I felt like my body was shot out of a cannon at terminal velocity, as weird as that sounds. I struggle to find my bearings and get a sense of my situation. Next thing I know, a large piece of metal stabs me in the chest just missing my heart - although my left lung could only wish to be so lucky.

I look around frantically as I struggle through the pain and see something that spells out the situation for me. The plane I was on just got turned into an extra crispy meteor falling from the sky...it was then that I realized that my team and I had been shot down during our escape from the lost combat zone; a painful death fast approaching - I could see the ocean coming ever closer.

"...Well...I'm not surviving this one, that's for sure... May as well take myself out before I go splat, haha", I chuckled to myself morbidly for but a moment.

I grabbed my combat knife, staring at it sadly, and stabbed myself in the head... It was supposed to be my 18th birthday today.

I look around and notice that my surroundings are a weird mixture of utter darkness and a sort of glowing grey dust all around me- or is it smoke? Maybe some type of mist?

"Well, this seems awfully boring. And here I thought that death was just like falling into a dreamless sleep. I wonder if I'm just supposed to stand here and philosophize for the rest of eternity...", I say to myself out loud.

Kind of weird considering my body doesn't seem to be all that solid so my vocal cords shouldn't work.

"Meh, it is what it is, I guess", I finish my monologue and begin walking towards what I believe to be an ethereal glowing ball of blue light.

At first, it looks whole but I quickly realize that it looks more like a console with a hole for you to stick your hand in. I examine it and walk around it, intrigued. I shrugged and stuck my hand in; I was already dead so I had nothing to lose.

Then I felt a weird prick in my wrist that traveled all the way up my arm and quickly spread throughout my body. I felt no pain of any kind but a warmth spread outwards from the weird sci-fi markings and then get absorbed into my body. My body absorbed more and more until everything went black and I heard a ding in my ear.

[Third Person POV]

October 10th

The young man would be reborn as Naruto Uzumaki, one of his favorite fictional characters, something the system knew he would appreciate in the future. His past experiences and memories were with him, but at present his cognitive abilities were still that of a young newborn babe. That meant that the night's events would play out similarly to the established story, with few but important differences. 

There were certain rules and key changes that took place when the system recognized him as its owner that would forever alter our hero's path as Naruto Uzumaki. The first, and most important rule, is that there could only ever be one transmigrated soul inhabiting a body at a time. That meant that when its user's destination was selected, it had our hero's soul absorb and assimilate everything about Asura Ōtsutsuki the moment Naruto had been conceived. This is when souls are injected into what would later become their bodies.

However, this would also cause various changes in his destined counterpart, Sasuke Uchiha, and he too would absorb Indra's soul before being born. Thus, breaking the cycle of hatred and confrontation established by the two sons of the Sage of Six Paths. 

But as the night went on and the events continued to unfold, young Naruto instinctually realized what was going to happen and reacted as a babe would; he cried. He sought the comfort of his new mother, instinctually knowing that he would never again be able to feel her warmth and affection. His mind was undeveloped, his cognitive abilities limited, but he could enjoy and appreciate Kushina's loving and caring embrace.

But, as birth was just as stressful and tiring on the babe as it was for the mother, the young Naruto grew drowsy, falling asleep at several points throughout the night, only being able to catch glimpses of his new parent's demise before being picked up by Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Lord Third Hokage of the Village Hidden in the Leaves.

He instinctually felt that the old man would not take as good care of him as his parents, but he knew he wasn't bad. What little agency he had as a babe, he used to try and charm his way into the old man's heart, before once again falling to sleep.

However, unknown to our hero, who was currently unable to comprehend the events that just transpired, many things had changed. 

In the canon version of events, Minato Namikaze, realizing the immense risk that sealing such a massive and powerful being would have on his son, he separated the Nine-Tailed Fox into its Yin and Yang halves. Taking with him the Yin-Half into the belly of the Shinigami, and leaving the Yang-Half with Naruto, so that he could one day master its power and defend the village and shinobi world.

However, in this timeline, due to our hero having assimilated the original Naruto and Asura Ōtsutsuki's souls during the process of transmigration, he was much stronger than the original Naruto would have been when he was born. This prompted Minato to seal the entirety of the beast into his son, using the Reaper Death Seal. Making him a much stronger version of Naruto than he would have been without the Game System's rules for its transmigrants.

However, strong as our young hero would be for his age in comparison to his peers, he would later discover his new powers and abilities hindered by the infuriated fox. Naruto would need to work to unlock his full potential and grow without being subjected to the fox's intervention.

But for now, his story would remain unchanged until a certain ANBU would take personal involvement in his growth.
