Time to Settle the Bet

"Here, cover your ears with this." Boreas gave us ear plugs. I placed them on my ears, as did the rest of the Knights. It was made of a soft substance, and once it was on I couldn't even hear Akai shouting on top of his lungs.

Boreas shouted something, but we couldn't hear him whatsoever even though he was right next to us. He grinned and turned around

"Zephyros! A month has passed, it is time for the duel!" Boreas bellowed with a divine voice that could be heard from hundreds of miles away. The ear plugs somehow made it seem like a small whisper. After a month of hellish spars and training, it was time for the duel. We were standing outside within Boreas's magnificent castle, constructed purely of crystal and ice. The land around it were completely covered with snow for miles. Suddenly, a blast of warm air covered the area, melting most of the snow in the surrounding.

A brilliant pillar of light suddenly shot to the ground.

A few seconds later, it slowly faded out like it was never there.

I took off my ear plugs as I stared at Zephyros.

"How can you be so impatient?" He walked out toward us. "We were on our way already!"

"Well, one can't be too sure can they?"

Boreas and Zephyros continued chatting like they forgot the entire reason they came.

Boreas turned around and saw that most of the group still had the ear plugs on.

"You can take them off now, you know?"

They all just looked at him quizzically.

Boreas stomped over and pulled off one of the captain's ear plugs, and pointed at it. The rest realized and followed suit.

Boreas cleared his throat and continued talking.

"Today, will be the duel between 「Frozen Avatar」and 「The Lonely Ice God 」. The mentors of the winner will gain the items that was staked by the other mentor."

Zephyros raised his right hand forward, and summoned what looked like a shard of glowing glass on his palm.

Boreas sighed and raised his right hand, and summoned a badge on his palm.

Both men's eyes shone with greed, as 「Frozen Avatar」 walked up to the stage, fully cladded with high tier items and battle armor.

"It seems you want to makeup your disciple's shortcomings with items." Boreas smirked.

"Well, it's better to come prepared, no?" Zephyros countered.

"You don't need to be if you actually had faith in your disciple."

I walked up the stage as I stretched my muscles. I held up my fists as 「Frozen Avatar」simply crossed his arms and smirked.

"Give up, you're just a poor country bumpkin!" He pointed to my lack of armor and items.

"This is a fight to see how much we trained isn't it? Do you have such a low confidence that you brought items here?"

He growled and held up a sword.

Boreas started counting down with his booming voice.

"3... 2... 1.... En Garde!"

He charged at me while swinging his sword to my right side. I called on a shield of ice as the sword shattered it, throwing me to the side and giving me time to recover my balance.

"Die!" He pulled out a mana potion and started drinking while casting a spell.

"Do you really think I'll let you charge up a spell!?" I rushed forward as he placed a wall of ice in my way. I smashed through it with one punch, but when I ran through the wall I knew he already finished charging.

I held up my forearms and summoned a thick ice shield, then braced for impact. A enormous amount of energy crashed into me, as I fell on the floor.

"You blocked that? Not bad."

"At least I'm not the one being high and mighty when you can't even use a attack spell without a mana potion."

He sneered. "Was that really a attack spell? I mean, it was, but I'm using it for another reason."

He summoned all the energy back from the spell, with it turning into ice in his two arms, covering his battle armor.

"I'm the 「Frozen Avatar」for a reason, y'know"

He ran towards me, swinging his sword yet again. But this time, it was different. He clearly was much faster and stronger in his swings, but it wasn't worth that large amount of energy he just consumed.

I backed away and picked up a rock, throwing it at him. He sliced the rock in half cleanly in two, while the two rock pieces instantly was crystallized with ice. It shattered a second later, without even hitting the floor.

"It's my godly abilities, {Avatar Energy Steal} and {Frozen Energy Spread}. I can use it to buff myself or any of my weapon"

"Well, it's not that impressive."

I activated {Lonely March of the Ice God}, as I walked towards him.

We glared into each other's eyes as we broke into a sprint.

He ran over and swung his sword right to my head. His arm instantly froze in place.

"Wh-what the hell is this!?"

"My March controls all the ice divine or not in the surrounding area. Guess what your armor is made of?"

"Bow, before the Magnificent Ice God." I gracefully grabbed his sword's edge with my thumb and index finger.

{Lonely Touch of the Ice God} has been activated!

The sword shattered, as I threw a fist at his face.
