"But Samuel never had all the answers," Mia muttered.
"What?" Kevin was left dumbfounded at her response. He looked at her face as if she was some sort of a creature that suddenly sprung up, from beneath the Earth. "Then why did you kill him?" he snapped.
Mia pressed her eyes shut to calm herself down. "I didn't do that!" she hissed. Anyone could sketch out the disappointment behind her anger.
"What?" Kevin looked askance. "If you didn't then who did?" he asked with grave expressions.
"I don't know that. Not yet," Mia squawked, digging her fingernails into her own palms.
The room grew silent. Kevin was regarding Mia with mistrust in his eyes. A lot of unprocessed information was being dumped in his mind, leaving him all vexed.
"It could be your father- I mean, stepfather," Edward commented, breaking the silence.
"No. He didn't," Mia shook her head.
"How can you be so sure?" Kevin enquired, eyeing Mia suspiciously.
"I just am," she answered without looking at him.
