Family [1]

[8 months later]

[Fray was sitting in his bedroom, legs crossed, fully focused on one thing—mana.]

Last month, I had my fourth birthday.

Eight months have passed now from the moment when I acquired and began practicing gathering the mana surrounding me.

My understanding of mana grew exponentially as I gathered more and more mana. Every time I gather mana by sending brain signals, the pure particles of mana seem more and more viable, as if they have some mission of their own.

In addition to that, now that I can even sense the presence of my half-created core in my body, I assume that by the age of 5 I will finish it.

"Fray, it's time for breakfast!" My mom called me out to the kitchen.

"Right away!"

As I went downstairs, I could smell the fragrant food, which made me expect the food to be delicious.

"Beatrice, could you hand over a plate to Fray?" — My mother asked our maid, Beatrice.

"Of course, Miss Norman," she obediently answered.

When my mom's famous scrambled eggs with strange seasonings from this world were served to me, I swooped up all the food. In my opinion, this is the best food I have eaten so far in this fantasy world.

A few moments after I started bingeing my food, my dad came downstairs to eat.

"Ohh! My wife's scrambled eggs—I'm not sure how many times I've eaten them. I'll never get used to how delicious they are." My dad complimented my mom's cooking, and she smiled on her behalf like a little child being complimented.

After a short silence,

"I have been deputed to a mission, so I won't be able to return home for a few days." My dad changed the subject in the middle of his meal.

"It's alright, honey, I understand." My mother answered in a sad tone, but not much could be done.

For the rest of the meal, we just ate in silence.

I'm interested to see what kind of missions my dad usually gets assigned to.

[After an hour]

An hour has passed, and it seems like dad is already ready to leave for his "business trip."

"Fray, look after everyone here, especially the baby." My dad gave me a task before leaving.

After a brief goodbye conversation, my dad departed.

Wasn't mom already on her eighth? or ninth month? As I recall from my memories of my past life, it takes 9 months for the baby to form and be born.

So that means he or she will be born soon? A new family member, eh?

Luckily, maid Beatrice is here; she already has knowledge and experience in all this, as she was the one who guided my mother when I was born. I'm sure I will never forget that day.

It wasn't a curse, though; for now, this life seems more like a blessing compared to my previous life, which only included suffering, darkness, and misery.

Except, wasn't it the same way back then? I was enjoying my life, but it went downhill after that monstrous incident.

Gatlin POV

You idiots, are you confident that the information you received is certain?

"Yes, boss, Alfred Norman was supposed to leave for a mission by the order of the higher-ups," Sid reassured me.

"And I'm confident that no one guards the house when Alfted is absent," added Frederick.

This seems way too buttery smooth.

For some reason, I'm concerned—no, actually, I'm almost certain—that something is going to ruin our plan.

"But sir, imagine all the money we could attain from the Nornan house!" - Said convinced me.

Now I need money the most. So I really don't see the reason to reject his offer...

Whatever the case, I will still need to be careful. I know that money is good, but life is more valuable.

[When the sun left the sky and the dark night appeared, we went on a spy mission to get certain information.]

"No one".  – whispered Frederick

"It seems like no one is guarding the house," I said, and both of them nodded in agreement as they continued to scout the house and its surroundings.

Doesn't really add up to me, so he's well aware that he has a pregnant wife and a mere child all alone without any guards, and he simply left?

Well, I'm not really complaining. It seems like it will be easy money this time.

"Alright, folks, tomorrow morning, early, we start our "operation," understood?" I said, they didn't add anything and just plainly nodded.

Money once again brings me to the path of success...
