As the years passed, two more years had gone by.
The world remained relatively peaceful, but Paradise continued to grow as more Mutants arrived. In two years, the population in Paradise had reached over three million. Though this number seemed significant, it was comparable to the population of a major city in a large country.
Despite its size, Paradise held considerable social status. The township, while remaining low-key and focused on development and integration, boasted impressive combat power. Its unique nature, due to the presence of Mutants, made it a distinctive entity on the global stage.
Yet, the residents of Paradise were more focused on their internal affairs and less concerned with the world's perceptions.
Meanwhile, in the United States, at Stark Industries' space agency, Reed Richards was eagerly inspecting a spacecraft alongside a document in his hand.
"My research on the high-energy cosmic storm generated by coronal solar wind could potentially trigger the evolution of early planetary life. In about six weeks, a cloud cluster with similar characteristics will pass through Earth's orbit. Conducting research on this phenomenon will revolutionize our understanding of the human genome, potentially curing numerous diseases and significantly extending lifespans. It could help children live longer, stronger, and healthier lives," Reed explained to Alex, his excitement palpable. The virtual projection before them shifted constantly, reflecting the details of Reed's enthusiastic presentation.
"Hey, you have a good idea. So you plan to go to outer space in five weeks to study cosmic storms up close?" Alex listened to Reed's explanation, which also piqued his interest.
"Yes, once the research is successful, it will be of great benefit to us humans," Reed said with excitement.
"OK, then do you mind adding a few more passengers?" Alex asked.
"Definitely, you're the boss. As long as it doesn't affect my research, but I do have a friend who is also very skilled in aerospace, and I hope to bring him along," Reed replied.
"No problem. You can rest assured," Alex said with a shrug.
He was also extremely interested in the cosmic storm and curious about what it might contain that could cause genetic mutations.
"Well, it's up to you then," Alex nodded and got up to leave.
After telling Susan the good news, she was surprised.
After being let down by Alex last time, she had been eager to go to space. Alex had always said the time wasn't right, so now that she finally had the chance, she was thrilled.
"Can I let Johnny come with us?" Susan asked.
"Definitely, why not?" Alex shrugged. This trip was originally a whim for him, so it seemed only natural to include anyone who wanted to come along.
"Thank you so much, dear," Susan said softly as she hugged Alex.
"Verbal thanks are too insincere. How about a meat compensation?" Alex asked with a teasing smile.
"Now, it's daytime."
"What does that matter?"
Time passed quickly, and five weeks flew by in an instant.
Soon, everyone was prepared, and Susan, who had been working at the space agency, arrived with Johnny.
"Long time no see, Alex!" Johnny exclaimed, rushing over to Alex. He had really enjoyed the racing club Alex had set up for him.
"It's been a while, Johnny," Alex said with a smile.
After exchanging pleasantries, they all boarded the spaceship. Susan, however, seemed a bit out of place as she followed along by herself.
After a brief rest, the spacecraft officially entered space.
Alex and Susan explored, taking in the scenery of outer space. They took several photos with their phones before heading to the viewing cabin with Susan.
"Hey, Susan, you're here," a man said, approaching with a proud demeanor. His eyes lingered on Susan with undisguised interest.
But when he noticed Alex, his expression turned cold. "Who is he?"
Susan's heart skipped a beat at the sight of this man. She quickly turned to Alex, saying, "My dear, I have nothing to do with him."
"I know, I trust my own woman," Alex said, his eyes flashing with cold intensity. The idea of someone trying to take his woman? Unthinkable!
Alex pulled Susan close and said calmly, "I am Susan's husband."
"Husband? Heh, the young man is so shameless. There are many things a woman needs—how much can you provide?" Victor sneered, his face showing dissatisfaction.
"I can provide everything she needs," Alex replied, lifting Susan's chin with a smile and planting a kiss on her lips.
"Ohhh! He kissed her!" Johnny cheered, laughing.
Reed shook his head helplessly. He wasn't sure who to support—Victor was his friend, but Alex was his boss. Being neutral seemed like the best choice.
Victor's face flushed with anger. Susan was the woman he desired, and he hadn't expected someone like Alex to intervene.
Susan appeared a mix of helpless and pleased. She was somewhat frustrated by Alex's antics but also touched by how much he cared for her.
