The Truth Behind Her Rejection

"Would you trade the information with an apartment in the new skyscraper close to Heirs Hotel?" Maya asked.

A heavy silence ensued between Maya and Christian until the latter broke it.

"How about I force the answers out of your best friend's lips instead?"

"Hahaha…" Maya cackled, letting her cheerful voice ring in his ears. "I sense that the information you are looking for might be a tough one. Do you think she is going to open her mouth and tell you even if you put a gun to her head?"

Her question got Christian thinking deeply. If Diane was never going to spill that truth even at the point of death, he was now more interested than ever to know what it was.

"Why do you say so?" he inquired as his gaze looked through the windows of his penthouse

"Because the issue might be very personal for Diane. She has a lot of pride, and given everything that transpired between you both, she doesn't want any pity from you," Maya revealed.
