It was a sweet morning. The rays of sunlight gently streamed through the curtains, casting a warm glow in the room. The soft chirping of birds outside created a soothing melody, and a delicate breeze carried the scent of blooming flowers through the open window.

It was a perfect morning to laze around and sleep long but not everyone could sleep through it…

"La~ la~ la~..." While singing a random song, someone entered the room.

The moment Li Yi saw a certain someone still on the bed, she came to a standstill. As she sipped hard of her boba tea, her frowning eyes turned towards the clock.

The next moment, her eyes widened in shock. She flung her boba tea in the air and rushed towards the bed.

"Yuexin, wake up! It's 8 am!" Li Yi shouted at Mu Yuexin's ears. Her high voice was enough to render anyone deaf!

As expected, the sleeping one's sweet dream got replaced with nightmares.

Mu Yuexin, who was still sleeping with a contented smile on her face a second ago, jolted awake at the demonic scream.

"Who?!..." Yuexin shouted and glared ahead. Upin seeing it was her friend, she scowled and rubbed her ears. "Li Yi! You want to die?! What are you shouting early in the morning for?!"

Li Yi tsked as she placed her hands on her hips and looked at her friend dramatically. Yuexin looked like she needed more time to defrost.

"I say… it's 8… A! M!"

Yuexin frowned and looked up at Li Yi. "What 8 am... for what?!"

Li Yi sighed and folded her arms, "you forgot, today's your interview…"

"Interview… MY JOB INTERVIEW!" as realisation dawned on Yuexin, she yelled in panic. She fumbled for her phone and was horrified to see the time displayed on the screen.

Yuexin rushed out of the room in a panic, wearing the sexy pyjamas her friend had gifted her in the past. In the next moment she returned and grabbed her forehead.

"Oh my God, I'm going to be late!" she exclaimed, already feeling the stress building up inside her.

"Don't run like a fool! Quickly get ready!" Li Yi urged her anxiously. She was Yuexin's close friend and roommate.

They were both staying at the Ming City Commerce College Girls' Hostel. Who would have thought that while she left to live in her parents' place for one night, her friend would mess up enough to nearly oversleep and miss the interview.

Li Yi found the extra boba tea she got for her roommates and got one for Yuexin. As she stuffed it in Yuexin's hand, she said, "Eat before you go! What if you lose sense during the interview and they think you are sick?!"

"I don't have time to eat now! Ah! Ah! Oh my God!... Sip! Sip!" Mu Yuexin exclaimed as she hurriedly made her way to the adjacent bathroom. Even though she said that she still drank the tea with anxiety while being inside the washroom.

After quickly freshening up, she rushed to the closet to pick out a dress. As Mu Yuexin was changing her clothes, Li Yi watched her friend's slim figure while she shared the other two teas with the other two roommates.

While admiring Yuexin's figure, she felt that buying matching black pyjamas for Yuexin and herself was worth every penny!

Yuexin paused for a moment and then looked up, feeling a little self-conscious about her friend's gaze.

"Hey Li Yi, don't you dare stare at me!" She threatened as she turned her back at her friend. She was well aware of that stinky brat's perverted thoughts!

"I will, hehe~ what can you do?" Li Yi showed a smug smile and said naughtily, living up to Yuexin's thought!

"You!" Yuexin widened her eyes exasperatedly.

"The mole on your chest looks good on you!" Li Yi winked. She even felt like whistling and teasing her further. The other two roommates hid further under their blankets as they heard their bicker.

"I can't believe you're still obsessed with that mole, Li Yi!" Yuexin rolled her eyes, trying to hide her blush as she struggled to clasp her dress.

"I can't help it, it's so cute!" Li Yi giggled.

"Okay, can we please focus on the fact that I'm running late?"

As Mu Yuexin finished getting dressed and putting on some light make-up, she tried to ignore other distracting things. However, Li Yi couldn't resist coming to stand behind Mu Yuexin and admire her appearance.

Together, they gazed at their reflections in the mirror, with Yuexin being nervous and excited about her upcoming job interview.

She adjusted her dress, ensuring that it was neat and professional-looking. Meanwhile, Li Yi couldn't resist making a few cheeky comments about Mu Yuexin's appearance, causing her to roll her eyes but secretly appreciate the boost in confidence.

"Do you think I look good? It's my first interview and I'm pretty nervous!" Mu Yuexin asked, her voice laced with a hint of anxiety.

As she looked at herself in the mirror, she couldn't help but feel a bit self-conscious. With her savings, she could only afford a new light pink shirt, a black skirt, and a pair of black heels for the job interview. She wished she could have afforded more suitable attire.

Li Yi noticed her friend's unease and asked, "Did you buy those clothes without me knowing? You should have told me before!"

"Well, cough!" Mu Yuexin looked guilty and said, "Sorry, I forgot to take you with me."

"Buy me snacks when you come back and I will forgive you." Li Yi replied graciously, like an understanding friend.

"Sure, I'll bring you some snacks when I'm back," Mu Yuexin replied with a smile.

Despite realising that she had fallen for Li Yi's prank, Mu Yuexin didn't mind and was happy to fulfil her friend's request.

"You better leave now!" Li Yi said seriously as she pointed at the clock. Mu Yuexin quickly grabbed her bag and rushed out of the room.

"Good luck!" Li Yi called after her. The other two roommates groggily echoed their well wishes.

Yuexin walked out of the college hostel, her long hair swayed in the breeze as she rushed forward.

By her walking posture it was easy to guess that she wasn't used to walking in high heels.

Yet she was nearly running and it was the scariest thing.

'I will definitely be late!' Yuexin thought as she again checked the time in her watch and quickened her steps.

As she approached an intersection, Mu Yuexin realised she needed to cross the road to get to the bus stop on the other side. However, just as she stepped off the curb, a flashy, extravagant car suddenly appeared in front of her, causing her to scream in terror and stumble backward.

The car, which had been driving recklessly, came to a stop only after passing her figure on the road. Mu Yuexin, dazed and disoriented, found herself on the ground with her file scattered elsewhere.

After a quick assessment that her dress had only gathered a little dust, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Mu Yuexin's heart raced as she glanced up at the driver's window, ready to give him a piece of her mind. But before she could say anything, the car's window rolled down, revealing a man who appeared to be in his early twenties.

"Can't you drive carefully!" Mu Yuexin folded her arms and glared at the driver. "You nearly killed me today!"

The man seemed unfazed by her accusation and looked at the traffic light through his sunglasses, which was green. Mu Yuexin watched as his expression changed slightly, but she didn't know what to make of it.

"Woman, you look like someone who is poor. Take this and get out of my way!"
