Thankful For

A/N: Hi, for those who are confused on how many children Daniel has, I apologize. To answer your question, currently Daniel has four sons, namely; Mo Luangmin, Mo Ching Li, Mo Chao Yu, and Elijah Mo, but he is also pregnant with his 5th and LAST child(no name yet). Since DBTA/MHMB only covers up to the twins, I understand why you are confused but for those who didn't know, there is actually a continuation of DBTA/MHMB called SPECIALS. Basically, it is the story where Elijah Mo came to be. However, as of the moment it is still Ongoing and the update schedule is only 1 Chapter a month since I cannot put focus into it. "Fyre, what are you doing here?" Maverick asked surprised after finding the fellow Omega standing outside his grandfather's room. Of course, he was aware that Fyre was always welcome to the Mo Estate but he wasn't aware that the Omega was going today given the fact that the Omega was at the hospital yesterday.

"I thought you were in the hospital. Are you okay now?" Maverick added with a concerned expression, making Fyre frown because looking at the fellow Omega's additional bruises, it was clear that he was in a worse condition than him.

"I'm fine. But what about you? Why do you have another bruise and your lips! It's busted again!" Fyre slightly yelled before he reached out to carefully touch Maverick's cheeks and soon frowned at Joaquinn who he believed should have protected Maverick this time. He thought that because Ashton and Joaquinn were coming with Maverick while they talked to their father, Maverick would be safer but in the end, he still ended up getting beaten up.

"What in the hell were you doing to have let this happen to Mav again?" Fyre questioned furiously. He was even more convinced that he should have ruined Gared Sullen's life along with the bastards as well. People like him don't deserve pity even from his own children. People don't change that quickly or they don't at all.

"I'm sorry. I let my guard down and wasn't able to prevent it on time," Joaquinn replied dreadfully. It was clear that he regretted not being able to protect his younger brother despite being by his side.

"Please don't get angry at Quinn. It was an avoidable situation as none of us expected Dad would hurt me again but really, I'm happy that you are getting angry for me," Maverick smiled, making Fyre sigh helplessly. No matter how insecure and jealous he was with Maverick before, he couldn't really hate him because he was a nice person. Yeah, sometimes Maverick had a blunt side but there's also something about him that would make anyone want to protect him, even for an Omega like Fyre.

"Of course, since you're a friend and you've also helped me," Fyre almost whispered, which confused Maverick but chose not to question. However, what Fyre really meant about Maverick helping him was about the courage he gave him to make the first move. He didn't want to admit it but Maverick's explanation back then really set him free… made him brave enough to try to have a little trust in himself. Although in the first place Maverick was the reason why he shut himself off, he was still thankful because it made him realize how lonely he was all this time. It made him a better person, he overcame his depression, he picked up hobbies other than just sitting in front of his computer, he made a lot of friends, he learned to value his own self and most of all…

…he learned how to love again and to be desired back. Of course, not all of those experiences are because of Maverick, overall… it made him better understand his sister's desperation for love.

"Well, let's not talk about it anymore since this will be the last time Dad would ever be able to hurt me… instead let's talk about you, are you really okay? Quinn and I were planning to visit the hospital later but you're here," Maverick said, smiling softly. At the same time, Joaquinn also nodded with a worried expression.

"Fyre, don't push yourself too much. I can handle Mav's situation, for now, no need to worry and stress yourself out about this enough to send you to the hospital," Joaquinn added while Maverick nodded. He's already fine with the way things are now. As long as his video didn't get released—or even if it was—he didn't care anymore because he had people that would protect and take his side no matter what. He also didn't care if those people were punished or not, he just wanted to be free and be happy from now on.

"Jeeze, what nonsense!! I told you I'm fine and Zi was just overreacting when he sent me to the hospital so let's not bring it up anymore as well. Anyway, we came here to let you know that tomorrow will be the day of those bastards' doom. Rest assured your involvement is all erased," Fyre smiled wickedly, making both siblings look at him in surprise. Fyre was usually just a normal companion, he had a bit of a sharp tongue but this was the first time the two saw the Omega smiling so wickedly for someone else's incoming demise. But then again they could understand why he felt this way. It was because those bastards deserve it! Even Maverick felt happy knowing that those people who hurt him and many others will soon get what they deserve.

"R-Really?" Maverick uttered, his eyes began to water. Never did he imagine that he would one day be able to get away and even have his revenge. He's truly grateful to Fyre and Tian Zi for helping him without anything in return.

"Yes, after tomorrow's show, you can finally live a normal life. You're a good person Mav, I hope you don't blame yourself more than you already are because you deserve to be happy. The cage is already open, you'll only have to flap your wings and fly towards your freedom," Fyre conveyed genuinely. Although he's happy now and overcame his depression, he still wished that there was someone who said the same thing to him when he was depressed in his life. That was why he couldn't leave Maverick alone, seeing his past self in him.

"Thank you, Fyre. I really owe you my life," Maverick sniffled, hugging the fellow Omega. Even though they weren't really close to each other, Fyre didn't hesitate to offer his help. He didn't question him and didn't judge him. If there was someone who deserves to be called a good person, it should be Fyre himself.

"Jeez... you're over exaggerating. As long as you're happy and didn't I promise that I would help? Besides, it was Zi who did most of the job. You should thank him more," Fyre said with a giggle. He's always glad that he was able to help. Maverick is a kindhearted person and he deserved the best.

"Yeah, I'll definitely will," Maverick nodded, wiping his tears and on cue, Tian Zi suddenly arrived leisurely walking towards them. At first, his expression was monotone but as soon as his eyes captured Fyre's figure, a soft smile reached his lips. Meanwhile, everything was too sudden and when Tian Zi was almost 3 meters from them, Maverick who was so grateful and couldn't help himself ran to the Alpha and hugged him tightly burying his face against his chest. Everyone was so surprised, especially Tian Zi and of course... Fyre.

"..." Unable to say anything, Tian Zi's hands were hanging as he fell into panic and didn't know what to do. He looked down on Maverick—confused—and then to Fyre who was as shocked as him. There was nothing wrong with the hug because he just said to the fellow Omega that he should thank Tian Zi and Maverick also hugged him just now but for some reason, his heart felt like it was being grabbed witnessing the situation.

"Uhmm?" Tian Zi finally began to speak because Maverick wasn't saying anything but continued to hug him anyway. Moreover, he didn't have the heart to pull him away as well, considering that the Omega had already gone through so much.

"Mav, stop that!" Joaquinn, who was shocked at his younger brother's sudden act as well, was quick to frown in displeasure before he walked towards Maverick and gently pulled him away. Although Tian Zi had helped them a lot and he owed him big time, it was not right for an Alpha and Omega to hug so intimately, even if they were friends. A friendship between an Alpha and Omega doesn't always end up good. Tian Zi is a good man but Maverick had just gone through a lot, he didn't need a man—An Alpha—in his life for now.

Meanwhile, waking from his sudden action, Maverick blushed from his ears all the way down to his neck and shoulders as he immediately pulled away from the Alpha. He was so stunned at his own doing that his mind went blank not knowing what to do. After that day 4 years ago, he and Tian Zi had decided to forget everything. The kiss they did in Hawaii was the last of their intimacy and since then they never touched or talked to each other much. There was only a short exchange and it was only days ago that they managed to have a long conversation.

They have always been awkward with each other and he didn't know why he suddenly had the urge to hug him. Even if he was very thankful, he should have thought of the consequences.

"I-I'm sorry. I-I didn't know what I was doing..." Maverick stuttered, falling into panic as well. On the other hand, Tian Zi began to relax from his panic while he secretly glanced at Fyre only to discover there was no change in his expression at all. Tian Zi wasn't sure what he was looking for exactly but he felt a little disappointed, causing him to sigh and quickly wanted to change the subject.

"It's fine. Anyway, how's your talk with your dad and grandfather? I hope it ended well," Tian Zi asked instead, massaging his temples. He quite resembled his Eldest Brother at the moment because, for some reason, he felt like a headache was coming his way.

"I-It's fine. I'm sorry I hugged you so suddenly… I-I was so thankful to you I wasn't thinking."

"It's okay. I'm sure Fyre already told you everything. You can relax from now on." Tian Zi assured with a gentle smile, to which Maverick replied with a shy nod, holding his chest. For some reason, it felt like his heart was going to pound a hole against his chest if he didn't hold it down. He didn't feel this way about Tian Zi before. Due to their family's relationship, it always felt like they were distant relatives more than a prospective marriage partner and he didn't know when it started but all of a sudden, it became like this.

He didn't know what to do because out of everyone in the world, only he knew that he never had a chance. But then again, he looked at the Alpha and then to Fyre… 'Just maybe… m-maybe I have a chance?' Maverick thought. If there was anything that his unfortunate experience had taught him then it would be to not be afraid to speak up. He is aware that the chance is low but he wanted to at least try. Whatever happens next… he will think by then. 'If they really love each other, then maybe this will be the last push I can offer,' Maverick thought and smiled on his own. It'll be killing two birds with one stone.
