Small Talk

Currently, my mind, body, and soul were awaiting divine retribution from the figure before me, a literal deity. The words I had just spoken were something which would be considered by many to be blasphemy of the highest order. It gave those zealot people enough reason for a straight-up execution. It was equivalent to calling the Bible; an edgy teen's wet dream.

'I might die here.' I thought, a little terrified.

I was terrified, but I wasn't that afraid to lose my life here. Dying because you disrespected, who in my opinion, was something like a head god was a very awesome way to die.

"Sigh, did you have to? I mean, sure, my name was an easy target, but seriously? Did you think that would be any clever?" he sighed, disappointing, as he continued, "It's like fighting a cripple, winning, and thinking yourself as 'cool'."

He wasn't even angry; his disappointment was just that great. And thanks to his words, I now felt even worse. Causing me to feel embarrassment of an unparalleled magnitude. I was happy that he didn't just pop my head like a balloon; otherwise, I would be very embarrassed while going to the afterlife.

"Sorry, I guess…" I said embarrassingly, "But you didn't have to kill me there, you know. Couldn't you have just said, "It was bad."?" I complained.

I really started to bitch around. I wouldn't even be mad if he just killed me right now. No, you could even say that I would be happy. As what I was saying was equivalent to an ant trying to mock you so bad the ant started to bitch at you because of how bad its mocking attempt was.

The moment he had heard the complaint come from my mouth, he got disappointed. Even without any features on his face, his body language easily showed what kind of disappointment he was feeling. It was a disappointment that a parent would give to their teenage child. A look filled with sympathy and sadness.

"Sigh. Really!? Don't give me that shit when you can do this," he pointed to all the orcs and the forest as a whole, "So, anyway, let's just forget that this conversation ever took place."

"Sure…" I said with a wry smile as I embarrassingly nodded.

"Oh, by the way. Before we do anything, could you please tell me what my breath does, first?" I asked him, "I want to know what it does, why it is so powerful, and only causes an explosion of that level?"

What I didn't him was the actual reason for the said question. I wanted to know about the only divine ability I had before I died from divine retribution. As I didn't know why, but I wanted to disrespect or mock him even more.

"Sure, I guess." he shrugged, "In the most basic form, your spacetime attack, your breath, is something which only does one thing and one thing only. You understand?"

I nodded.

"The thing is: tearing and annihilating everything in its path. It would be easier to say it annihilates everything that comes in contact with it. Your attack can also ignore any defensive spell or ability, no matter its strength." he explained.

"Wait," I stopped him, "does that mean if there is a barrier that has infinite mana in it, my attack can break it?" I asked.

"Theoretically, yes! But I don't know how that would work, though. Let's just say that your attack can destroy the strongest defensive barrier I can create." he replied, "How does that sound?"

"Absolutely terrifying and insanely broken." I bluntly replied in a monotone voice with a terrified tone, somehow.

I knew that he had said my attack was already insanely powerful, being capable of destroying this world tenfold. But, hearing him say that its defense ignoring properties were stronger still. That was both terrific and horrific at the same time.

"Ok." he said with a calm voice, "So all that's left to explain is the explosion, right?"

I, once again, nodded.

"The explosion is going to be hard to explain." he sighed, "I mean, you literally call science black magic!" he complained.

"Actually, now that I think about it, it's not surprising since, in your world, which doesn't have magic, people used to burn women as witches just because they did something 'weird'." he sighed disappointingly.

"Wait? Did that really happen?" I asked him.

I never knew that kinds of things happened. The rich, though bastards who all deserved to burn in hell, were geniuses and very conservative of their people. They wouldn't kill anyone like that; losing .001% of their wealth would make them lose their seat.

'This jogs dark memories.' I thought, terrified, 'I wonder what that Sex Demon is doing after my death? Ah, who cares; that bastard is probably r*aping my lifeless corpse. Crap, shouldn't have thought that…'

"Don't worry about it. It's just a piece of history lost to your kind." he answered.

"Sure," I said, still horrified by what sick things that man-whore was doing to my corpse.

"Well, I'll finish this explanation quickly now," he said, "the explosions are, basically, caused by the atmosphere and not your breath, ok? Just remember that."

"Ok," I replied.

"Ah, before ending this explanation," he looked at me intently, "You should probably be aware of the fact that you won't get any stronger from the beings you kill with your attack, as you destroy their soul as well as their body. Do you understand?"

"Yes!" I exclaimed, "You know what, every time I learn more about my attack, the more terrifying it becomes. I mean just destroying their soul, doesn't that mean that they permanently die?"

"Yeah, they do." he replied, "You can't revive them afterward."

I carefully thought about the words he had said, but there was one thing which bugged me -- a lot, "What do you mean by revival? And did you say I can resurrect people?" I asked.

By the way, without this note, this chapter is exactly 999 words long. That was the limit I had set upon myself this time. You know what, limiting myself to a set word count is probably the best! As it makes writing more of a challenge and not me just typing on my keyboard like a neanderthal.
