First Date

It has been nearly 2 months since my arrival at Kakariko Village, during that time I've become a rather skilled swordsman.

Also I amassed hundreds of materials using the amiibo.

With nothing left for me to learn I only have to complete both Shrines in this village.

The Ta'loh Naeg shrine is located up the path leading to Cotera.

Leaving Impa's house I went to Shronia's place, I could've done the shrine alone but Shronia and I are like a team now.

She was in her parent's workshop tidying up.

"Shronia, want to help me clear a shrine" (Link)

"Sure, dad I'm going to help Link with something, I'll clean up later" (Shronia)

"Okay, be safe" (Rianu)

With Rianu's permission, we left for the shrine.

The Ta'loh Naeg shrine is a combat shrine, the basement is a large rectangular room with a giant square hole in the middle. Near the elevator entrance were 2 chests on either side.

The left chest contained an Eightfold Blade, the right chest contained a Shield of the Mind's Eye. In terms of quality, both are weaker than my go-to equipment, I hope I can sell them without stirring any trouble.

After depositing the items into the Sheikah Slate we neared the center of the room where the hole was, then a loud mechanical sound resonated as a platform raised itself and covered the hole. Riding the platform is a level 2 guardian scout.

Unlike a level 1 guardian scout, this guardian carried a sword.

Pulling out our weapons we prepared for battle, on my signal we charged. I ran right, Shronia went left. The guardian was confused for a second before deciding its target, it targeted Shronia and confronted her.

I have nothing to worry about, I know that she is capable of taking care of herself. The guardian swung downwards with its sword, Shronia dodged the attack and aimed at the arm hoping to cut it off. The guardian's armor was tougher than she had anticipated so the arm stayed intact but she did manage to inflict physical and fire damage to it.

Putting power into my legs I catapulted myself and struck the guardian, the guardian couldn't shrug off a hit from a savage lynel sword dealing 70 damage. Its attention changed from Shronia to me.

Pulling its arm back it tried to slice me in half, instead of dodging I parried it using my sword. It worked, Ossio's training has paid off. Making an opening for myself I attacked it relentlessly.

With its attention faced at me, Shronia used this moment and did a stealth strike.

The finishing blow was dealt and the guardian was beginning its self-destruct sequence.

Rushing to Shronia I carried her to safety at the far end of the room, the next moment it exploded into ancient parts. It also dropped its guardian sword. The weapon only did 20 damage, but maybe in the North Eastern Akkala University, they'll buy it for a high price.

Stashing the weapon and the ancient parts we strolled over to the wrinkled being, in front of the being was a chest that contained an opal piece.

Collecting the spirit orb from the being we left the shrine.

The other shrine in this village is the Lakna Rokee shrine, the only problem is that the shrine hasn't surfaced yet. I need to use the Orb in Impa's house and awaken the shrine with it. I could steal the Orb, but I wouldn't want to destroy the trust of the villagers. Asking her to give me the orb is an option but I'd rather do it the way you do it in the game.

In the game, you complete several side quests in order to acquire the Orb..

The first person I need to talk to is a man named Cado. In his side quest, I have to return his cuccos that have escaped from his pen.

"Shronia, can you lead me to Cado?" (Link)

"Follow me" (Shronia)

I followed her to a large cuccos farm, in the game the cuccos farm was no bigger than 10 feet by 10 feet.

In the middle of the cuccos is a man feeding them. He saw us and came over to greet us.

"Hello, my name is Cado. How may I help the Hero?" (Cado)

"Have you been missing any cuccos?" (Link)

"How did you know? Many of my egg-laying chickens have gone missing this morning" (Cado)

Yep I knew this would happen, whenever I want to do a side quest or when I travel throughout this world an occurrence appears. For instance, when I arrived at Outskirt City there was a sighting of a lynel, and then after a few days, a hinox was spotted near Digdogg bridge.

"I'll help you return them" (Link)

"Thank you hero" (Cado)

We went around the village looking for his cuccos, they have a small tag around their feet with Cado's name on it.

They were everywhere, some of them were on roofs, others were in spots you'd wondered how they even got there in the first place. It was grueling work but by mid-afternoon, we returned all his egg-laying cuccos to him.

"Thank you again Link, here have this as a reward" (Cado)

He gave me some dried chicken bullion. This could spice up our meals during our journeys.

After finishing Cado's quest, Lasli's quest would open. Lasli's grandmother is very overprotective of her, Lasli just wants to walk around the village at night and look at the fireflies, but her grandmother won't allow it.

Thankfully I prepared for this quest so I already have more than enough fireflies in the Sheikah Slate.

"Where does Lasli live?" (Link)

She led me to a house near the outskirts of the village.

I knocked on the door.

"Coming" (Lasli)

That was probably Lasli, opening the door was a young lady.

"The Hero, how can I help you?" (Lasli)

"Is your grandmother alright?" (Link)

"She's fine, just bedridden from old age. Thank you for coming to see her" (Lasli)

She welcomed us in.

We are now in the bedroom that Lasli's grandmother is in. She was sleeping soundly.

"Grandmother wake up, the Hero is here to see you" (Lasli)

Lasli nudged her grandmother awake.

"The Hero!" (Lasli's Grandmother)

She looked around until she saw me.

"How do you do the names Nanna" (Nanna)

"I heard you were sick so I came to check up on you" (Link)

"What a gentleman, oh if it isn't Shronia as well. How was the outside world?" (Nanna)

"Amazing, the world is just so different from the village. My first visit was Zora's domain, the entire place glowed at night" (Shronia)

"I wish I could've been to Zora's domain, if Impa had allowed us to travel when I was young I would've seen the world. Now with this old body, I can barely walk to the bathroom" (Nanna)

"Staying on topic grandmother, since I am still young may I go out tonight?" (Lasli)

"What for? It is dangerous at night, not to mention that Kilton feller has been appearing around at night here more recently. I don't trust that person" (Nanna)

"Grandmother, I just want to see the fireflies" (Lasli)

"No is no" (Nanna)

"I can show you the fireflies" (Link)

"Like a date?" (Nanna)

Nanna thought about this for a second.

"No, I have th-" (Link)

Before I could finish she cut me off.

"If anyone is going to take my granddaughter out for a night who better than the Hero" (Nanna)

"Actually, what if I just bring some fireflies for her to see" (Link)

"Exactly, a nighttime date. I'll allow this" (Nanna)

"No, I mean what if I capture some fireflies and bring them to Lasli" (Link)

"Why would you do that when you're going to show her the fireflies on this date later tonight" (Nanna)

Nanna wouldn't give up on this date that I somehow created for myself.

"It's settled then, Lasli get bathed, you're going out with the Hero later I can't have my granddaughter smelling" (Nanna)

"Grandma!" (Lasli)

Lasli was a little embarrassed.

"Link, come over at around 5 Lasli should be ready by then" (Nanna)

Leaving the house, Shronia was a little grumpy.

"What's wrong?" (Link)

"Nothing, I better be returning home" (Shronia)

I am now at Impa's house.

I've been on a few dates, though I would always mess up and the other person would stand me up. I hope this won't happen later today.

After bathing myself I just sat in my room as I had nothing else to do but wait.

I wasn't ready for this, my social skills aren't at an adequate state. Getting up I went outside, there I found Paya doing laundry. I hope as I continue to talk with people I will be able to keep a conversation going, I'm not shy by any means I just don't feel like socializing.

"Do you need any help?" (Link)

"Link, could you help me hang these" (Paya)

Taking a few sheets I hung them on the wire. As I continued doing the chores I forgot my main objective and worked in silence for a while.

Paya was the first one to speak.

"What do you want to eat for dinner" (Paya)

"I'm eating dinner with Lasli later today" (Link)

"What! I mean, oh I hope you have fun" (Paya)

She was a little down after that, I tried my best to start a conversation but she was acting just like me. Giving yes or no answers to my questions.

After the laundry was finished Paya excused herself. It was almost time for me to get going.

I knocked on the door to Lasli's residence, answering the door this time is a middle-aged man.

"The Hero, my name is Green, Lasli's father. Come on in" (Green)

"Thank you" (Link)

In the main room I sat down on a pillow. In this village they have floor pillows instead of couches.

"Wait for a bit, Lasli is almost ready" (Green)

A few moments later Nanna came out.

"Link, excited for later?" (Nanna)

"I am" (Link)

"Nervous?" (Nanna)

"Not at all" (Link)

"What do you think of my granddaughter?" (Nanna)

"She's nice and seems like a well-behaved granddaughter" (Link)

"Hahaha, have you seen that Kilton fellow. He doesn't seem like a dangerous person but he only appears at night, he gives out a bad vibe" (Nanna)

In the game, almost all NPCs are wary of Kilton, it isn't surprising for Nanna to be scared of him.

"I trust him, he hasn't done anything wrong and if he chooses to live a life during the night, then let him" (Link)

"Link you are too trusting of people, you may have a good heart but that may get you killed someday" (Nanna)

We chatted for a while longer until Lasli and presumably, her mother came out.

Wow, she looked amazing. Her clothing was a bit more stylish and her hair was hung down.

"Aren't you going to say anything?" (Nanna)

"You look great" (Link)

"Well have fun now" (Lasli's Mother)

"Try not to stay out too late" (Green)

"We won't" (Lasli)

Taking her hand, I went on my first date in this world.

"This is exciting, my grandmother hasn't let me leave the house at night in forever" (Lasli)

"Is there anywhere where you want to go?" (Link)

"The lake where the small Goddess Statue is located" (Lasli)

Perfect, not only will I be able to complete this quest, but I can also increase a stat of mine. I probably want more health as the journey onward will only get more treacherous.

We arrived at the statue just as the sun was going down.

Just then the fireflies awakened.

"Waaa" (Lasli)

Her face lit up with happiness as the fireflies flew around.

"Link, Link look! Fireflies!" (Lasli)

"I see them" (Lasli)

Acting like a little child she ran around and tried catching a few, it was quite the spectacle to watch.

"Got one" (Lasli)

She actually got one!

"Link come here" (Lasli)

Going to her she opened her hands for a firefly to come out. We watched it fly away.

Since we were here Lasli wanted to give thanks to the Goddess Hylia.

Kneeling before the statue the ever-familiar voice resonated within my head.

This time I asked for a heart vessel. With the same golden light, a golden heart slowly descended from the sky.

The heart was absorbed into my body, increasing my health.

My stats are like this-

Health: 16

Stamina Gauges: 1 4/5th

Strength: Orange

Speed: Yellow

Speed (Powered): Green

Passives: Level 3 Stealth

Just then Lasli's stomach grumbled, her face became a beet red.

"Let's go somewhere to eat" (Link)

She nodded.

We went to a restaurant called Koko's Grill, the place was an outdoor restaurant. A young girl seated us.

"Hello, my name is Koko, our menu for today is Tough Meat-Stuffed Pumpkin" (Koko)

"That sounds great" (Lasli)

"Okay, just wait for a bit and I'll be out with your food" (Koko)

After leaving us, lasli had a sad look on her face.

"It's quite tragic, her mother died when she was young" (Lasli)

In the game, Koko's mother was killed by the Yiga clan.

I wonder if they know that Dorian was once part of the Yiga clan, Dorian is Koko's father.

Dorian was once part of the Yiga clan, after meeting his wife from the Sheikah Tribe his life changed. The Yiga found out about their marriage and killed Dorian's wife, Dorian left the clan with his daughters, Koko and Cottla.

"Is Dorian a Yiga?" (Link)

"Dorian? I'm not sure about his background, but he always been a good person for as long as I can remember" (Lasli)

I see, Impa must've kept Dorian's past life a secret. It would be hard to live in a village if they knew you were part of the clan that is your enemy.

Koko brought the food out shortly.

"Here you go, enjoy" (Koko)

Thanking her we ate, the food was delicious. The pumpkin was cooked through, the meat was tough but wonderfully spiced, and the sauce was savory.

After finishing our meal we strolled around the village.

It was dark out, up the hill behind Impa's house I saw Kilton's shop.

"Link, can we visit Cotera I want to see her fountain at night" (Lasli)

I don't see why not, I also want to see what the fountain will look like at night. We strolled up the path to Cotera, as we passed the Ta'loh Naeg shrine I felt eyes watching us from a distance. Looking behind me I saw some heads sticking out of a bush, we're being followed.

By who? Janeson and Nashi? Is there any reason to?

I walked over to the pair, to my surprise they were Shronia and Paya.

"Link what are you doing here? Are you going to visit Cotera too? What a surprise" (Shronia)

Shronia is obviously lying.

"I was making sure you were safe so I followed you the whole time. I'm so ve-" (Paya)

Shronia tried to cover Paya's mouth, but it was too late, she already said the important things. I understood Paya following me, but why Shronia?

I'd rather not ruin this date, so I just turned and left them be.

"I'll see you guys later" (Link)

Turning around I went back to Lasli.

"Was that Paya and Shronia?" (Lasli)

"Yeah" (Link)

"Were they also visiting Cotera?" (Lasli)

"Something like that" (Link)

The fountain was extraordinary, the glimmering petals with the bright water gave a heavenly image.

"Cotera" (Lasli)

With an explosive launch, Cotera showed herself.

"My, I didn't expect to see you during this time. Doesn't your grandmother forbid you from going out at night Lasli?" (Cotera)

"That was the case, but Link said he was taking me out tonight so grandmother allowed it" (Lasli)

"Well if the Hero was my date I guess I wouldn't have anything to worry about. Come join me on this beautiful night" (Cotera)

We sat beside her and talked for a bit, then something or someone came out of the shadows.

It was Kilton, strange. I never saw him leave his shop before, this is new.

"Can I join you tonight?" (Kilton)

Lasli got scared and hid behind me.

"Who might you be?" (Cotera)

"Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Kilton and I run the Fang and Bone" (Kilton)

"That mysterious shop that only appears at night. Tell me Kilton, why are you really here? (Cotera)

"I saw the Hero strolling around at night and wanted to speak to him" (Kilton)

Cotera is suspicious of him, am I the only one who trusts him.

I walked towards him. For some reason, Kilton got scared and took a few steps back.

"Hero, you don't have to come to me. Actually, if you don't mind, could you stay away from me" (Kilton)

"Link, don't get any closer to him. I don't trust this man" (Cotera)

He is acting strange.

"What's wrong, I got close to you before. Remember that night when we climbed the mountain and purchased some of your goods" (Link)

"Yes, how could I forget. My first customers in this village, that being said I think you should stop coming closer to me" (Kilton)

Kilton began to back up in fear, is he scared of me?

"LINK! Get back here right now!" (Cotera)

"Link, I think you should listen to Cotera" (Lasli)

"I trust Kilton, let me show you" (Link)

Kilton looked incredibly frightened to see me before him. I held my hand out, he didn't want to shake it. He started trembling.

Just then a loud shriek came from the village.

"What was that?" (Lasli)

Without missing a beat I ran towards the village, looking down the path I saw a large crowd gathering outside Impa's house.

I made my way through the crowd. Inside Paya was crying, Impa was calming her down. Ossio was standing guard.

"What happened?" (Link)

"The Orb has been stolen!" (Ossio)

"Yes" (Link)

The final part of the quest is now active.

Ossio looked at me strangely.

"I mean, yes I can see that the orb is missing, but how?" (Link)

"Lady Paya was taking a stroll and when she got back home the Orb was missing. I don't know who could've done this" (Ossio)

From within the crowd, I saw someone backing up and leaving. That must be Dorian.

Quickly I found Shronia and took her along with me.

"Link, where are we going?" (Shronia)

"Shhh, we're following Dorian" (Link)

"Did her steal the Orb?" (Shronia)

"No, but he'll lead us to the person who did" (Link)

We followed him up the path to Cotera, but halfway towards her he suddenly took a right. Quietly we followed him. Dorian arrived at the activation circle for the Lakna Rokee shrine.

Then Dorian shouted.

"I know you're there! Show yourself!" (Dorian)

In a puff of smoke, a tall man wearing a mask with an upside-down Sheikah symbol appeared. He had a long blade that resembled a katana.

He is a Yiga Blademaster, the Yigas were once part of the Sheikah Tribe but due to their differences, the Yigas decided to branch off and start their own clan.

"You don't have to shout. I'm right here" (Yiga Blademaster)

"I know you stole the Orb, give it back" (Dorian)

"You fools worship a useless Orb, you were a member of our clan how could you join this tribe of idiots" (Yiga Blademaster)

"You killed my wife!" (Dorian)

"You killed her yourself when you married someone from this village" (Yiga Blademaster)

Dorian just unsheathed his sword.

Then the Yiga Blademaster turned to us.

"It appears we have an audience!" (Yiga Blademaster)

With a swing an air blade flew from his sword, we dodged out of the way. Preparing for battle, we unsheathed our weapons. The Yiga Blademaster chuckled as he welcomed this challenge.

I rushed in, he sent another air blade. I rolled over it and tried to disarm him. Just as I was about to make contact he suddenly vanished.

"Link! Behind you!" (Shronia)

Instead of looking back I jumped into the air, looking below I saw the Yiga swing.

Shronia drew a cross in the air and sent a flaming X at the Blademaster, he stood his ground and blocked Shronia's attack.

Dorian came up from behind and tried to attack the Blademaster, but he did the same trick. Teleporting behind Dorian he tried to cut him in half. I was still in the air, with no other options I threw the lynel sword. I managed to hit his arm. With only 1 arm left the Blademaster began to back up.

He tried to use his teleportation technique, but Shronia was quick to react. In a blink of an eye, she incapacitated the Yiga member. With him captured we retrieved the Orb.

"I can't believe I was being followed" (Dorian)

Dorian explained his story, he was a member of the Yiga Clan. Then one day he met his wife who blessed him with 2 wonderful children. Anyways, shortly after the Yiga killed his wife and he left the clan with his 2 children.

I already know all this, Shronia became sympathetic.

"I'm so sorry for your loss" (Shronia)

"There's nothing you could've done" (Dorian)

He sat down with his head hung loose.

"I must've led the Yiga's to this location, I endangered the lives of everyone here" (Dorian)

"What's done is done, Impa has accepted you into this village, repay her kindness by owning your life to her" (Link)

He looked at me before offering the Orb to me.

"Use this" (Dorian)

Using the Orb I placed it into the hole in the middle the shrine lit up revealing the way in.

The ground rumbled as the shrine emerged from the ground.

This is a blessing shrine, there are no puzzles or challenges, just a chest. Looking inside the chest I had horrible flashbacks, I decided not to receive my treasure.

"What's wrong? Aren't you going to grab the treasure?" (Shronia)

"Its an Edge of Duality, I'd rather not have one on me" (Link)

Speaking to the wrinkled being, I received the spirit orb.

All the important tasks in this village have been completed.
