Like Fire and Water (Rosario Vampire x Reader)

It's only the third day of school, and I'm already starting to dread this year. "New start my *ss." Just being back on this campus for my second year makes me feel sick. It doesn't help that my friends are already bickering. My breakup was only a few weeks ago, but to them it was often like the whole thing didn't even happen until they pointed out that I was still moping. The whole 'I'm sorry that's horrible' phase was over and now it was 'Just get over it, there are plenty of fish in the sea!' I'd try and laugh it off, because I know. The ocean is literally my home! Though this is my first time actually attending a school for monsters.. But you'd think something could happen in my life to distract me from this whole heartbreak business. Instead it's just the same things on repeat.

"Hey, (y/n)!" Asahi calls. We've been in the same class since our first year and he's one of my best friends here. One of the few that doesn't try to dominate my life, or more specifically my love life. I roll my eyes as one of our other friend's faces pops into my mind.

I keep on walking towards our classroom, but I honestly could care less where I end up. "Where are the others?" I ask him, keeping my usual indifferent attitude. It helps me from bursting out crying any second. "We should all hang before class starts or something."

"They're probably out in front of the school fighting still." He lets out a sigh, running a hand through his curly, blonde locks.

"Again," I mutter to myself. Despite how often they fought those two actually got along really well. They only had problems when one of them spotted a hot guy.

"What's with those two and fighting over every boy they see?" He tries to distract me from my thoughts, turning the little annoyances into conversation. "You women and men, I just don't get it." He realizes he's hitting a sensitive topic though and quickly changes the topic.

Not quickly enough though. My eyes land on a familiar head of brown as he passes by me in the hall. His icy blue eyes pierce through mine for a brief moment before we both quickly look away. There's no greetings, no words. We're strangers now.

I furrow my brows and look down at my feet, trying not to let my emotions show. But Asahi knows that such reminders can be more than painful for me. "You deserve someone so much better than that jerk," he tells me again, but I don't believe him.

He grabs my hand, pulling me down the hall as we head towards the vending machine. Might as well get something to drink while we wait for class time. While he's figuring out what to drink though, I notice a familiar purple head peeking out from behind one of the pillars. I approach her quietly whispering in her ear, "We're all friends. You know you can just say hi."

"(y-y/n)!" She gasps, but keeps quiet so he doesn't hear. I've known about Tsurara's crush on Asahi since we met. She was in a different class, but I found her following him, started talking to her, and then introduced her to the others. She puts her lollipop back in her mouth. I've been trying to get her to confess to him for forever, but now she says she won't because she doesn't want to make things awkward. Plus she'd 'hate for me to be the only single one', or to remind me of what happened with Luke. So I've given up on pushing it. It's true that some days I really hate her and Ageha, but they're my friends, and I want them to be happy.

"What happened with Ageha?" I ask, their fight must've been over if she was over here. I wondered how long she'd been following him without either of us noticing.

"She's getting it off with some guy.." Tsurara mutters trying to not sound irritated, but I can hear the annoyance in her voice. It's probably whoever they were fighting over this morning. But with how straightforward Tsurara can be with other guys, you'd assume she'd have done something about her crush on Asahi by now. I think it's mostly worry over Ageha trying to "steal" him from her that really bothers the poor girl by now.

I tug on her hand, "Come on, stop staring at him and let's just say hi." Asahi, who had only barely decided on his drink and paid for both, is quite surprised when he finds Tsurara next to me. He extends a friendly greeting though, turning back to get her something before we all head to class.
