Chapter 4 - Aston

The Summer princess. The Summer fae. How could she even mention them? They killed father and she hated them. Detested them. This was one of her plans, and let's just say, most of them didn't end well.

"The Summer princess?"

"Yes. I want you to bring her to me."

"I don't understand."

"Since when did you have to understand everything? Aubin, your duty is to listen to my orders and obey them. Not question them."

"I offer my sincere apologies." Each of my words were laced with barely hidden distaste.

She knew I hated her. Hated her for letting father fight. Yet, she never once said anything. He was her mate, her everything, and yet, she was so willing to let him go.

"Gain her trust, and bring the princess to me. A public execution will be set a day after you arrive. One life for the one that was taken. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Don't you want to avenge his death, the blood that was unnecessarily spilt on the battlefield?"

I swallowed. This was a chance, but could I take it?

"I don't have all day, Aubin. It's now or never. Perhaps, I could ask North, instead?"

"No."

"You'll do it?"

"Yes."

A rivalry had grew between North and I, ever since that thing happened. I wasn't going to lose, now.

"Pack your things. I expect you to be out in the Summer Lands looking for her by dawn. And if you get discovered, don't think I'll spare you."

I nodded stiffly, and said, "I'll be back."

It was partly informal, and might have been rude, but I felt like it. I was going to be back with the Summer princess, and soon, her Summer blood would be spilt on the execution stage.
