"Have you come home?" Mei asked as she came out of the kitchen.
"Mother," the beautiful woman replied.
"Mother?" Haruto looked at her with a confused expression.
"Who is he?" The beautiful woman asked with a blank face, looking at Haruto.
"Oh, he is Haruto, the child who has been helping me for the past few days. Tonight, he will have dinner with us here," Mei said before walking back to the kitchen.
"Sorry for the interruption," Haruto said politely.
"If mother brought you home, it means she doesn't feel bothered by you," the woman said before going upstairs.
Haruto could only remain silent upon hearing that and decide to smile resignedly.
Not long after, the beautiful woman came back downstairs and went to the kitchen. It seemed like she was trying to help Mei.
Finally, dinner was ready. The beautiful woman then walked to the dining table and placed various dishes there. After a while, all the food was served, and Mei appeared and sat in a dining chair, along with the beautiful woman.
"Ah, you haven't properly introduced yourselves, have you? Haruto, let me introduce you to my daughter. She is also a teacher at the City Academy, teaching third-year students. So, you might not have seen her before. My daughter's name is Jie Li." Mei introduced her daughter to Haruto.
"Hello, nice to meet you, Miss," Haruto said in the most polite manner.
"Yes," Jie replied flatly.
Haruto could only smile awkwardly at that and then notice that the prepared food was spicy, all of which looked delicious.
"Haruto, do you believe in gods?" Mei suddenly asked Haruto.
"Gods? Not really," Haruto remembered that the previous owner of his body did not follow any religion, which meant that the previous owner did not believe in gods.
"I see. Then do you know how the existing gods and goddesses were formed?" Mei asked with a serious face, which confused Haruto even more.
"No?" Haruto answered, genuinely unaware of that.
"The existing gods and goddesses were created after the nuclear war ended, during a time when the world was in a state of ruin. That was the beginning of the New Civilization Development Era. Many people were doing bad things, such as theft, murder, rape, and all other crimes, because they didn't have strong belief in themselves, which led them to become corrupted, not much different from the Dead and Horrors," Mei explained seriously.
Hearing this information shocked Haruto, and he listened attentively to the information conveyed by Mei, thinking that it might be useful later.
"Knowing the crimes committed by people made the government think that they had to do something. That's why they created various religions and invented gods and goddesses so that humans wouldn't fall into depravity."
"The gods and goddesses are Vuurbrander, the God of Fire. Culinaria, the Goddess of Food. Mizukami, the God of Water. Klugheitia, the Goddess of Intelligence. Fengshen, the God of Wind. Gochucham, the Goddess of Lightning. Voynabog, the God of War. Lumiere, the Goddess of Light. Terra, the God of Earth. Askperest, the Goddess of Love."
"These ten gods and goddesses have been believed in since ancient times until now. Even Fort City 085 follows six of these gods and goddesses, namely Vuurbrander, Klugheitia, Gochucham, Voynabog, Lumiere, and Terra. These six gods and goddesses are the beliefs in this Fort City. I am a follower of the religion of Goddess Klugheitia," Mei explained slowly to Haruto, leaving him very confused.
"And then?" Haruto asked with curiosity.
"Would you like to help me by working for me for a few days or maybe a few weeks? To help me organize various books in the library." Mei asked with a smile.
