In Her Shadow

Another vacation has come and gone, and it is time to return to school. Dyren dislikes getting out of bed, but his mother forces him to. He's got to be late for school. He got up from his bed and did his daily routines. Dyren was born without any parents present. His parents were too busy with their businesses to travel. They expected more from him because he was the only child in the family. Last year, he was almost kicked out of their school because of his grades, and they're very mad at him for almost bringing disgrace to their family.

He didn't forget his last vacation with his friends while driving his Lykan Hypershot. They had left him in the bar, drunk and unconscious, and they didn't mind bringing him home. On the same night, he met a girl who refuses to leave his thoughts. He didn't remember everything about the girl's appearance; all he remembers is that she has tiger-like eyes. He tries to follow the girl despite his drunken state, but the bodyguards of that bar block him. He wants to know the girl because, in a short period of time, she makes his heart beat so fast.

Cypryx High University is the school where Dyren is studying. He parked his car, and his friends greeted him with excitement in their eyes.

"Well, hello, our dear friend!" Prince greeted him with so much enthusiasm in his eyes while searching his bag.

"What do you want, Prince?" He said it with a smug expression on his face.

"We've been friends for almost two decades, and you still don't know what Prince wants in your bag?" Lyxander tried to put his hands on Dyren's shoulder, but he refused.

"It's not that I don't know him; I'm just annoyed!"

"Are you annoyed? With whom? Us?" Archer asks his cousin. In complete contrast to Dyren's attitude.

"I think you're annoyed at us because we left you drunk in the bar last time. Am I right?"

"Well, you should consider it fair because, the last time I remember, you also left us at the airport when we were going to Paris?" He really left them before because he was impatient.

"But-"

"Air pollution is one of the problems facing our country and the world. You should minimize your voice to prevent pollution." Jhaderylle cut off their conversation. He talks when everyone is noisy, and he only talks once in a blue moon.

"Doesn't small talk contribute to air pollution because our saliva deteriorates?" Dyren said sarcastically, but Jhaderylle never responded again.

Cypryx High University is Lyxander's family business. Cypryx was created by combining his father's name, Cyprus, and Lyxander's name. Dyren thought that the name of their school was lame. The school is a home for many achievers, national and international, and one of the most expensive schools in the world. It cost you thousands of dollars to get into that school, and you should also have a sharp mind. This school doesn't mind the character of the student, but it focuses on the talent, ability, and mind of that student.

While they're walking in the pathway of the school, the girls start to shout their names as if they're celebrities. Dyren will have a good time because of the girls who admire him. He likes to break every girl's heart, especially those nerdy girls. He doesn't want to see anything like them because they are annoying and a pain in the eye. Before, he had a girlfriend who broke his heart, and he promised himself that he would do the same to other girls.

He wants to see every girl's eyes full of tears and suffering.

They arrive at their classroom and sit in their favorite place. Students are talking about them, but they don't mind. Meanwhile, Ms. Rowan entered their room with two girls beside her. They are both beautiful. The other one has an innocent face, while the other one has a sophisticated face. You can see from their appearance that they come from a very respectful and rich family.

"Greetings to all! I hope you have a wonderful vacation with your loved ones!" Dyren never focuses on what their teachers are saying because he is too busy checking on the two girls in front of him.

"Another year for us to be together, and I hope that you treat each other nicely, especially these two girls here, which is new in this school. Girls, please introduce yourself to your new classmates."

"Hello everyone! "My name is Sabrina Lewis; please be kind to me and it's nice to meet you all." The girl with the innocent face spoke, and Prince didn't take his eyes away from her.

"Hi everyone. I'm Danilaey Andrews; nice to meet you all, and I'm very thankful for being here in this school." This time, Lyxander was enchanted by the girl's beauty.

Dyren doesn't like the two girls because he has very high standards and they didn't pass. Their teacher told them to sit down, and the only vacant chair is beside Lyxander and Prince. The two boys were too happy for that situation. There's also a vacant chair beside Dyren, but he didn't want anybody to occupy it.

"Miss Lewis and Miss Andrews, you mentioned a while ago that you have a friend who is also enrolled here. Where is she?" Their teacher asked, and maybe that would satisfy Dyren's standards.

"Yes miss. She has important things to do first, but expect her to be here soon." Sabrina answered.

Not a while ago, there was a knock on the door, and everyone turned their heads to see who it was. A girl with good posture and holding many books entered the room. Dyren scanned the girl; he had been pleased with her since the first time he saw her, but now he wasn't because she was a nerd. The kind of girl he hates the most

"Good morning, Miss. Is this 12-A?" Dyren wishes that this girl is lost or something because their room is 12-A, the same room she was looking for.

"Yes, come in. Are you with Miss Lewis and Miss Andrews?"

"Yes, miss." she answered. Now the world is against him. Dyren will have a nerdy classmate, but his ego says that she's beautiful, as is his heart.

What is happening to him? He asked himself. He is just one of the nerdy girls that he hates the most.

"Introduce yourself dear."

"Hello, I'm Zharia Rylie Smith."

That's the only thing she said. Her teacher wants to know more about her, but she insists, so she lets the girl sit beside Dyren since it is the only vacant chair.

"Okay, class, since it's our first meeting, we will not have our lesson for today. I will give you the opportunity to talk with your classmates." Their teacher said that before she left the room.

Dyren was not in a good mood; he was pissed, so he thought of a way to tease the girl beside him. She was reading a book called "Sherlock Holmes," and it was boring for Dyren. When the girl gets something on her bag, he pushes the book, and it falls to the floor. The girl gets the book as if nothing happened, and she continues reading it. Dyren did it again the second time when Zharia was talking to her friend Sabrina.

"What is your problem?" Zharia cannot take it anymore. She hates when her books are treated in a way she doesn't like.

"No! I don't have a problem. You? What's your problem?" Dyren asked her.

"I'm not joking. Why do you keep pushing my book onto the floor? You really are a brat."

"I'm not a brat, miss nerd. I'm handsome!" He spoke with his head held high.

Dyren tried to tease Zharia more because he loved the reaction he was getting. She is very mad at him. Dyren is slowly getting closer to the girl's face to tease her more. It was only an inch away before Zharia realized what he was doing.

"You're beautiful, but I don't like your glasses; it's a pain in the eye!" Dyren reached out his arms to touch her face, but

She stepped on his toes harshly.

Dyren was whimpering in pain. That toe of his is not yet healed from the accident last time he drove his bike. She wants to strangle her, but his friends block him. That is the time when everyone leaves the room, including the three girls. He wants to take revenge on her, but he also thinks that there is a perfect time for that.

'No one messes with Dyren Montreal', he said to himself. Zharia messed with him, and she will pay the consequences of her action. He is not so nice with girls, especially nerd girls, and now that Zharia has messed with him, he will make her life a living hell. He also promised himself that she would not last long in that institution.
