"Is this how much leisure you have?" Adeline stomped towards him. "Looking at my boss isn't what a secretary should do."
Nicholas smirked. "Well that's what I want, so get to work."
As months passed by, Adeline continued following Nicholas instructions of looking at him day and night as long as he was in the office. At times, she wanted to scold him, but thought about the debt she had to pay. She wanted to close her eyes and take a quick nap, but every time she would do so, Nicholas would remind her of the interest she had to pay if she refused to follow him.
She tried holding her patience until one day, she gave up and laid on the couch as she closed her eyes.
"What are you doing?" Nicholas walked towards her. "It's only three in the afternoon. You aren't even doing anything and yet you look so worn out."
"I give up," Adeline sighed. "I can't do this anymore."
"Is my face that displeasing to look at?"
"Yes, it is."
"What did you say?" Nicholas grabbed her wrist. "Open your eyes and continue—"
"No." Adeline threw a pillow at him. "I won't do it if you don't give me something else to do."
"You dare refuse to follow me?"
Adeline sat up with her eyes closed. "Do what you want. I need a break."
"I don't want you to have one."
"Stop acting like a child. It's getting irritating."
"Well that's the why I'm doing this."
Adeline slowly opened her eyes. "I need a nap. I'm taking the day off."
"So you're sleepy?" Nicholas sat down beside her, patting his lap. "Sit here then."
"Are you insane? How can I—"
Nicholas grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer to him. "Are you refusing to follow me again?"
"You know what? I'd rather look at you than sit on your lap."
"Well I've made up my mind. I want you to sleep."
"No thanks."
"You just told me that you were sleepy."
"I want you to give me something to do," Adeline looked at the ceiling and sighed. "Something a real secretary does."
"Maybe next time." Nicholas flicked her forehead. "I'm still testing your patience."
A few hours after finishing work, Adeline immediately headed to Molly's apartment to take a nap since her house was far from Nicholas' company.
"What are you doing here? Want me to bring you home?" Molly handed Adeline a cup of water.
"Nicholas is crazy." Adeline closed her eyes. "He's letting me watch him work all day."
"Well that either means that he's in love with you or that he's just trying to play with your feelings."
"Ugh! Just do what he wants! I just wanna pay off the debt!"
"Well how about Erick then?"
"What about him?"
"He hasn't contacted you ever since that day you told him that you were gonna work for Nic right?" Molly folded her arms.
"He's just busy." Adeline yawned. "We'll catch up soon."
"Jacob and I experienced the same thing. It usually means that he has a problem."
"If it's about my work...well he should accept it."
"You should consider how he feels—"
"Stop siding with him." Adeline stood up. "Everything will be alright as long as we trust each other, so stop worrying about our relationship."
"I'm just concerned as I have already experienced that..." Molly patted her shoulder.
"L-Lets just change the topic. Talking about Nicholas makes my head ache."
"What do you want then?"
"How's the investigation going? Has the mysterious man been caught?"
"You mean the one that threatened Jacob? Well unfortunately, no. He hasn't gotten a single clue."
"Well that guy's after Nic anyway."
"And you're not worried?"
"Why would I?" Adeline giggled. "He's just my boss, that's it."
"Well seems like he doesn't see you in that way, Adele." Molly smirked.
