Chapter 1Empty Hospital?

I awoke in a bed, and the scratchy feeling of the sheets managed to pass over me because a constant beeping went off in my ear. It sounded like the one in a hospital when someone dies.

The light blinded me when I opened my dreary eyes, but I held them open.

What greeted me was a hospital room with no one inside. A simple bed, which I laid on decorated the room with machinery behind it that hummed a constant beeping. The only privacy I had in this 'room' was a curtain that separated my bed from the other 'rooms'.

'What... what's going on?" I said, rubbing my eyelids.

I moved my frail, weak legs over the bed to rest on the floor.

It felt cold, and my toes curled. IVs were stuck to my body like alien parasites and then I noticed the light that was above me wasn't on and the only source came from the morning sun that bathed the room In a dull yellow.

But then, all at once, hunger and thirst ran rampant in my throat and belly as if my brain's cognitive function was glitched.

'Food, water, I need it I thought no longer able to think straight.

I pushed myself off the bed and stumbled like an uneven tower on the cold tile. Pushing the curtain revealed something that made my stomach churn.

Blood trails painted the floor like a sick painting, it managed to get on the curtains of the other 'rooms' and ceilings too.

I held a single hand to my mouth as if it'd do something.

But despite this scene I had to keep moving, looking for sustenance.

I turned a corner and found a water fountain, drenched in blood. No longer caring about the consequences I stumbled over and took gulp after gulp of enriching liquid. At first, it tasted bitter, but my mind didn't care and I sipped as though it were the last drop of wine.

As I sipped I heard a soft banging along a gurgle.

This wasn't enough to detach me, but after getting my fair share I removed myself from the faucet and listen closer.

Bam...

Bam...

Crnch...

I took a cautionary step, and I felt the water slushing in my stomach. It was uncomfortable but somehow managed to give me temporary immunity to hunger.

Bam...

Bam...

aurrrghhh...

I stared at the dirt and blood-stained curtain as if it'd move. Whatever I had heard was in there.

I took another step and then looked closer. Through the curtain, I saw a silhouette of someone standing in the corner of the room right next to the bed.

I got on all fours, slowly making sure not to make a noise, and peered underneath the curtain to see two pairs of dull white feet showing streaks of bright red blood.

Bam...

Bam...

Crnch...

But this time I understood where it was coming from.

''Why is he slamming his head into the wall?'' I whispered to myself.

Picking myself up I neared the curtain and pulled It back slowly. The rings on top of the curtain sliding made a noise, and just as I had pulled the curtain far enough so that the strange man was in view, he turnt around.

His entire lower torso was missing, ribs stabbing through his gown like a needle through the fabric. A horrid odor wafted into my nose in waves not giving me a break.

I fell to the floor at the sight.

"AURGHHHH" He screamed, completely disrupting the entire room's silent aura.

The creature marched towards me as I pushed myself from the ground.

He chased me but I limped fast, almost like a jog. As I passed medical trays and equipment I pushed random assortment of objects into his path to little effect. When I turned the corner exiting the curtain room I saw a reception area of sorts.

Once again, like a common trope blood splattered every inch. Inside the circular corner desk meant for patients sat a woman with dull skin and bleary eyes. Hearing the roars of the creature behind me shook her to life, and like a pack of wolves, they followed me.

The room had two hallways, so I chose one at random.

Then I randomly chose again when more pathways appeared.

My limp jogging couldn't get me much farther. The creatures that ran behind me grew in number and they were catching up.

Then, not knowing, I turned a corner to see a dead end. To the very right of the dead end was a door, and above read 'Staff Only'. It was most likely locked, but I didn't care. I ran to it knowing that this would mean I couldn't limp-jog again.

To my surprise, the door clicked open and I quickly shut it behind me. The groans of those creatures echoed in this room. Then shortly afterward a slapping sound started like they were trying to bust open the plastic door.

I gazed around my surroundings and saw a pool table, foosball, vending machines, and a couch that stood opposite of a 40 Inch flatscreen TV.

'A Staff Lounge!' I thought happily. But before I could truly appreciate what I had found the banging got louder.

The entire horde had caught up, and now they were all viciously banging at the door as though death was behind them.

The door began to buckle and the hinges squeaked an awful sound.

"Fuck it, let's fight then"

Earth's Greatest Magus

#Top 20 Webnovel Best Sellers 2021, 2022, 2023, and in 2024 #### History is said to be written by the victors. If so, how about Earth's history? Two millennia ago, a young boy named Emery met a tragic fate. In his final moments, he was transmigrated and accepted into the Universe's most prestigious school of magic. “You are among the chosen few from thousands of human worlds. Only one in tens of thousands of acolytes possess this!" Thus began Emery’s journey together with his 4 friends from the furthest corner of Earth. Each year they returned to Earth to grow, seek revenge, save the princess, conquer the world, and become Earth's Greatest Magus. Their names are still etched in our history books to this day. Authors Note: I have always been fascinated by writing fantasy relating to historical facts. In this story, you will find characters inspired by real-world myth and legend. The universe I created hopefully will make the reader's imagination excited and logically plausible. I hope you enjoy it. ### Here are some key aspects you'll encounter: MC: The protagonist follows the classic weak-to-strong arc. World: Picture a blend of Harry Potter and Star Wars. System: While it's primarily a magic-based story, there's a structured system in place that's easy to follow. Additionally, elements of cultivation. Harem: No, there are several female interests. But I enjoy romance first. So even if there will be more than one love interest it will be deep. Note: English is not my first language, but you'll notice that my writing and English skills gradually improve throughout the chapters. Other: The novel delves into deep research on science and history, enriching the storyline with factual and intriguing details. Give it a read—you might be pleasantly surprised by what unfolds. Disclaimer: I'd received a few complaints from some readers that my MC is not a real villain, and I have to agree; if you're looking for some complete psycho MC who burns random farmer villages down just for fun then don't read. The MC is a ruthless man who does evil things from time to time, but only to his enemies or those he considers to be true scum. He gains no joy from tormenting strangers. Also don't read if you want a story about buying s*x slaves and r*ping them, that doesn't happen in this novel. He will treat the women he wants to be with as if they were normal people, whether they're slaves or not.
