CHAPTER 2: DREADFUL

After the devastating worldwide phenomenon, human start to change and adapting the harsh environment. It is not so easy to live to the new world, where the change of the mass and the gravity affect to the revolving earth which is 24 hours a day and 24 hours at night also the animals began to grow more faster and very aggressive but mostly the threat of new world began when hexapod kingdom became the top food chain

Yes, the insect became the most affect to this meteorite, the mutated and become bigger, bigger than the human and carnivore to any of it, what mostly fear is the insect are the most dominating species to the old world and became the human threat in this era.

30 years after, the human began to steady their life, they defend and live in a big city in the floating island. The floating island create after the meteorite struck and mess the gravity and mass of the earth.

This floating island are above to the Europe, where this boy live.

My name is Eric, 12 years old and I live in a small shard of the floating city, small shard is like a part of the floating island but you need use airplane before you reach the main island. We live in this island very peacefully and have great view in the sky. Although this small shard is approximately 1 hectare, it is big enough to us 8 kids and 2 guardians. I always felt that I need to get use in this life and began to live comfortable, but the truth is my dream is to have a journey on this new world,

Aunt lify is my one guardian who always telling me a story as if she is journeying together with us. She is always makes don't sense but so realistic to hear, I mean I've been here since I able to remember so I never see other island besides the wall of the main floating island.

She travel us to another history where how people used to live and how meteor landed by telling the story, by hearing them every night my curiosity ignite and force myself to learn more and widen my imaginary.

My sibling always nagging me for being lazy, I mean I always prioritize my imagination. In conclusion I always sleep and skip the house chores and gardening, by the way when I seed gardening, this is the only work we can give and also we eat.

If you ask why we survive in this remote floating area, We are very healthy because of armen, our other guardian he always give us inspection everyday given the healthy check, we are not supposed to ask why we need it but we just feel our body is unusual and then couple of hours everything is fine.

Somehow this very life of ours feels empty and uneasiness to me, I don't want live and die without knowing the world but what can we do? It is always in my heart that something is not right and want to know the truth.

But without knowing the future, the nightmare that he didn't expect suddenly just happen before his eyes while regretting that why he didn't use his heart and fully trusted what other say.

Every 2 months they have a carrier for the supply and new child want to live in the land, or so they say. The rules is if they have child to enter they also have a child to come out, it's like graduation to them and became an adult with the help of the guardian they can also help to the orphan and find a job suiting to them.

Eric sibling albert, sheina, grace and tony are selected. They overjoy while tear come up to their eyes it is like they dream to discover the world and knowing it. After a while they realize that they come to separate ways, also they tease up that I am so unlucky I couldn't get pass the selection

"There is always next, time. Don't worry we will wait for you." Albert said and smile in front of me while his hand softly landed to my shoulder.

"Yeah. Make sure your safe" I replied without knowing what happen during that night.

While saying goodbye to them my back feel weird, like saying that something is bad going to happen. My back hair begin to stand like the danger always near but then what could be go wrong? That is always been on my mind, but this time I got hesitated and ask Mr. Armen.

"Excuse me uncle, are they really going to the very safe place" I'm old enough how to say properly but this feeling right now mixed with my accent and somehow it became a child sentence.

Mr. Armen shockingly stare at me frightened and then he inhale and get back his calm face.

"There is no need to worry Eric, they just want to help this orphan and I am so very proud of them" smiling again.

I noticed that everything I ask, they didn't answer properly and almost he purposely dodging it.

I understand that it useless to say and walk away from him. As I walk, feel the gaze of him staring like his eyes going to pop out and his mouth tremble and getting pale out. I walk fast and hide in the side of the building, I sit and catching my breath, it was very frightening that I couldn't catch my break.

They are not blood related sibling but then they are the one I got, I could just ignore this anxiety but this is the first time it happen, what just this feeling of mine.

Eric wonder but then he realize that my worries cannot change the outcome, he then give up his thought and go to his bed to sleep.

4 months pass by, wondering what happen to them while dishing the plates, a strong wind struck in front of me while staring through the window. I saw a man glaring at me like it want me to know something he walk to the side of the building and vanish and then a paper landed on me, I read it carefully.

"Come to the back of the storage room where there is air ventilation go there when midnight. Don't come with someone else"

As reading in small note I have feeling suspicious and then shock why do I have this feeling? I've been here since I remember why? I think about this all this time while waiting till midnight and then when the time comes I have to know the whole truth.

Seeing Eric this time feels so trouble to doubt that this floating island is not normal. This moment on the nightmare he didn't expect began and he don't know for sure that belief waver instantly of he saw.

That night became the worst memories and what truly fearsome world he live in.

Midnight. It is time to move, I sneak in and stop hesitating every step I take. I got surprised when armen suddenly pop up, I hid in and hold my breath. I decided to believe my instinct to stop but my eyes cannot stop staring at him and thought that he is not armen I supposed to know, my hand shaking and my sweat became cold. Something change I don't know anymore. Armen continue to walk and I continue to sneak in going to where the note want me. I am here in rendezvous, it is quiet that my breathing can totally hear, I take small precaution and I look around to see if there is someone who follow. It's been 10 minutes since I got here but no one would come, I feel disappointed and give up but the air ventilation suddenly open I shock and step up a bit. I stare and not sure what to do, a head of a human appear I immediately open my sleep eye and about to shout but then the head talk slowly.

"Shhh, hello don't make any ruckus and follow me."

"Eek"

I spouted some nonsense I immediately apology and making a space between us.

"Sorry I said something I shouldn't."

I just listen to him and follow his words.

My mind confused of what happened. I enter the ventilation and start crawling slowly. I don't seem how is goes and

"ahh so awkward" while having these thoughts the further we go some machine is getting louder and talking people I hear first time I hear it.

Hearing them inside ventilation seems fading away, I guess we pass it already. I saw a light and headed towards it. I want to know what this place is.

"Thi- this place is.... What is this place"

confuse of what I see. I see many adult people wearing white clothes. Very unusual clothes.

What's more is that I don't recognize any of them rather why did not see them in these past year. Hearing them make my head spinning, they saying some stuff that I don't know.

A laboratory inside of the orphan has been operating decades and intentionally hiding because of illegally experimenting. You know now why too many children are moving out without people who actually adopting them. Usually these people want to know the world evolving it's just that their method is not orthodox and much crueler.

As the 12 years old seeing for the time, he faze and trembling, I don't know what to do now. I have to report these to aunt lify, they are look like a bad guys. As I step back and crawl back to the outside the kid who is with me grab my shirt and look to me

"Don't"

I was confuse why he look at me and then look back at the light and my gaze turn that way and saw aunt lify commanding the stranger people.

"Aunt lify?... why? How? What is… what is going on?"

my eyes covered in tears, while terrified of what I saw, I don't know what is happening, and wanted to know what this place is. I grab his neck and choked him. I almost forgot to not make a noise and made something, unfortunately they seem to ignore it.

"Sigh, okay explain this to me now. I mean right now!" I angrily speak to him even though he showed me this. I don't if I'm thankful or just legs froze off.

The child emotionless to me and couldn't say a word, I guess he is scared, but why me though?

Why did he want to see this to me, which is a big mystery to me. I decided to follow him go further as I soon see those people the more I want know this place.

The boy stopped and open the ventilation, he comes down and started to walk. As I look below there is him and the room seems empty why would he go down. I look around and something a weird object I saw in the corner. I decided to come down without knowing what it was. This situation is very dangerous but then it seems that we are the only one inside. The boy approach to the object like a ball, a big ball and bow. I don't know why he do that and step closer to the weird ball. The ball move and produce a small tentacles, the boy turn in front of me and creepily smile.

"Shhh, hello don't make any ruckus and follow me."

Repeated saying this. I step back and unknowingly a light red line trigger the alarm and make a siren activate.

"What the hell"

I shock and then stay in the corner, while the boy still staring at me. Then the light came out and reveal its body.

He is living organisms larger enough to have space like a room this species is unknowingly doubt to the human society, no eyes, don't have parts, it is just big ball but alive. They call it living room.

I instantly thought it might animal but this is so abnormal phenomenon, I can't feel my leg as I want to run away near the door. But what is more I saw a face of people in its body. The brightness of this room came brighter and then this faces feels familiar. This faces is very recognizable but I don't know where.

This face I saw make a noise and start talking as if he wants to breath but then what worst is that his voice and the way he talk is so much more like albert.

"E…..e.err….eic….e…..errric"

My mind burst out to confused also mad about myself. What is this why my brother face are there. While looking to the other side of the ball the faces of sheina, grace and tony starting to recognize

"WHAT IS GOING ON AHHHHH!!?" I shout till my voice running out

Never so much in my life see this stuff on my own accord. My mind shut off while this boy approach me without fading his creeping smile.

While this happen, when the alarm trigger all the personnel in that lab starting to wonder why it activated, it is never been activate before, as the security watch the surveillance camera, they saw to boys in the living room facility. They immediately contact to the expert in the field and went down to the room.

"Its first time that this happen."

"How the hell there is the boys in that room?"

The lab filled to the confusing state and make everyone panic, then evacuate all people that cannot help in that situation to minimize the current conflict. They took the countermeasure and proceed to their high alert mode in the laboratory. They run to the door and open it, they saw the living room rampage to the noise and almost destroyed the room while Eric and the boy in the corner faze and couldn't move. As they move closer the saw a tiny tentacle in the back of another child, because of the angle of the light they immediately saw it. The child turn and tilt his head in front of the people who response to the alert. The boy suddenly stop smiling and shout in front of them, then it emerge to the weird looking big ball or they called it the LIVING ROOM.

They shock and back step at the time, they use the electric gun they brought to calm it down but it became more angry and rage. It made a hole in front of the ball, more like a mouth and produce a sound, shouting like a trouble began. The response team run away, afraid to involve such thing but the tentacle stopped then eat it just like a monster filling his hunger till it filled full.

Eric hear his name, someone speak his name and eventually he woke up and saw the destroyed, empty yet full blood.

"Where….ouch where am I?"

When I stand up dizzily I realized and instantly remember everything that I saw. I need to go now where it went. I run and run, seeing the bloody path but don't have body remaining, it's like eating them whole bit whose blood is it? When I turn I saw many carrier, it is like the garage of this facility and also the creature also there fighting or should I say it hunting its prey. Should I help, but what can I do? The thoughts mixed up but my resolve to know the truth didn't faze and stand.

I sneak closer behind its back and talk to the faces in the back, telling them how to defeat it. But it just talk about how they end up getting emerges to the monster.

We also shock of what they going to do to us but, they told us to trust them and not waver of what they want to do. First is it is just some samples of our blood and then exercise of how healthy are we, but then when we inside in that room it just a weird looking ball who have space inside. They told us to get inside and say what we see. In that moment we realize that we just food and filling its stomach, we couldn't do anything and struggle to the end of our life and became like this.

After saying those words, the more I want to save those who got eaten but the faces say that I can't, I'm too young, that what meant to say. I know that I can't do anything, I cried and felt helpless but then sheina spoke to me very faintly.

"Live…. See the world for us, discover and tell us in the other side" saying this while smiling breaks my heart.

I hesitated and feel complicated but then the creature found me and surround me its tentacle. I slap me in the face and thrown away. The tentacle capture and will put in its mouth but it stop in the midair. It suddenly shout and go crazy. The creature destroy most of the carrier make it more explosion to the lab. The lab cannot be repair and almost the island got blaze. It shout so loud that make my eardrum wreck.

I throw away and almost cannot move because of the impact, I barely stand up and want to comeback but my consciousness is fading away. My vision suddenly became black and want to lean but my finger push a button eject. I don't know what happen and can't remember anything.

Eric eject himself with a broken carrier it flown temporarily but you never know what happen after that. Meanwhile the island became blazing with fire because of the explosion that created.

That shard of the floating island became nightmare to those who can remember.

The LIVING ROOM falls below and don't know what will happen, aside from that no one actually knew that there are people who live in it.

That shard of a floating island is meant to know and evolve the species that they discover to the new world. Discover the odd insect despite being dangerous, they continue to nurture that monster. First is just like a palm size of a human being it feed to the small chunk of meat and then it evolve and eat alive small animal and now it can eat a human being size. That facility is hidden and a certain company provided the supplies and constantly provided information about that creature. That incident erases and don't exist to the history.

Meanwhile Eric who escaped luckily began to travel unconsciously, his story will be continue and became more dangerous here after. The dangerous journey began.

Few days after that incident, before they erase the report. A man smiling pause to the video and saw a weird looking ball transforming into a weird box

"Intriguing"

He push the delete button and stand up to the chair, slowly walking and walk out to the room. What his purpose?
