CHAPTER 143

Silence descended the room. Every eye was locked in on Skai. Blocking her ears with her palm, she shook her head.

Without needing anyone to spill it, Jared understood that the memory of that night left a big dent in her personality. 

For Skai, she recalled it all as though it was only yesterday the incident occurred.

Without fully understanding what exactly had gone wrong back then, she reached out to her brother but he shook his head and ran off.

It was only the next day that she partially understood what was going on when her father glared at her and called her a misfortune bringer. 

Instinctively, she recoiled, staying away from her father and brothers while minding her business.

Only today did she realize that his injury back then—the torture was all for her sake.

"Skai?" Jared's features softened as he reached out to grab her wrist.

She shook her head, mumbling some silent words.
